Chapter 768: Martial Arts Meet

“Are you all ready?”

Kiernan said while standing by the cottage door.

He was waiting for his students to get ready as they were about to leave for the Martial Arts Meet.

“Yes, master!”

His students echoed.

They were wearing Martial Redemption’s uniform, which was black qi, and had their very own headband.

With that, they left the cottage, and they saw countless people—tens of thousands—walking down the street.

They were all going in the same direction.

The city of Real Rokyo was under a shade of mountain—God Mountain, the highest peak in all of Celine—it was also a pathway to another realm.

There was gigantic-sized entrance to the mountain, and when people walked through the boundary between Real Rokyo and God Mountain, they were transported elsewhere.

Kiernan’s students were nervous, but they followed with full belief in their master and stepped through the boundary.

They appeared elsewhere, in some kind of white padded room that had a singular door at the end, but it was currently locked.

“Where are we?”

Cleo asked.

“I’ve read about this place. It is apparently whole another realm, and it has been used to determine the strongest dojos for a while.

“When that door opens, we will enter the room, and there will be another dojo awaiting us. I am sure there will be a referee as well, who will explain further.”

Kiernan said.

His students nodded and waited.

They had to wait close to half an hour, and then, the door opened with a loud click, revealing a tall man in a black and white striped shirt, holding a clipboard.

“Welcome, Martial Redemption Dojo. I am this match’s referee, Riorand. Your opponents are East Side Dojo. Please follow me to the arena.”

The man turned around, walked forward, and they followed closely behind him down a corridor.

The corridor led them to a spacious arena with a floating platform in the middle. There were two bridges connected to that platform, and the opponents were already waiting on the other side.

East Side Dojo students wore purple uniforms, and they were of older age than those from Martial Redemption Dojo.

It looked like a couple of them have reached the Age of Growth already.

“Stay here.”

The man said, stopping them from walking with him down the bridge, and he then walked to the platform.

“Welcome to the First Round of the Martial Arts Meet. It will be between Martial Redemption and East Side Dojo!

“There will be three challenges, and the dojo that wins two challenges will advance to the second round of the Martial Arts Meet!”

The referee shouted.

On the big screen, the first challenge was quickly decided, and the words “Point Match” appeared on the screen in bold letters.

“It will be Point Match. The master of the dojo and their five students will have one-versus-one matches that last three minutes, except for the master vs. master match, which will last one minute.

“By damaging your opponent, you will acquire points, and the dojo with more points at the end of the challenge, once all matches are concluded, will win the challenge!”

The referee shouted.

[East Side Dojo: 0 Points]

[Martial Redemption Dojo: 0 Points]

In that moment, the screen flashed with the word “FIGHT,” and the referee then told the two dojos to send their first fighter.

“…Nichols, you go.”

East Side Dojo’s master, Girard, said with a haughty expression, but in that moment, everyone’s expression froze.

From Martial Redemption Dojo’s side, Kiernan stepped forward and entered the platform, already donning his Black Qi.

“With Martial Redemption choosing their master to fight, East Side Dojo also has to send their master!”

The referee ordered.

“Hmph!”

Girard stepped forward, his baggy sleeves fluttering in the wind, and he entered the platform with his long ponytail waving behind him.

“You can do it, master!”

“Go, master!”

Cleo and the rest of the students were cheering him on, and East Side Dojo did the exact same.

There was tension in the air—Girard was a Low Stage Martial Legend, and Kiernan was just one rank below him, but that gap was enormous.

It didn’t matter that he defeated Idrian, as he was a weak Martial Legend. Girard was a martial arts master.

He was on a whole other level.

“FIGHT!”

The referee shouted.

“Peacock Style, Beautiful Dance!”

Girard waved his hand—his hands looked like a bird’s beak—his arms spread wide like wings, and he moved as gracefully as the majestic bird itself.

His arms swooped in like birds diving for prey—they multiplied, and it looked like hundreds of his hands were flying through the air in a mesmerizing dance.

They were surrounding Kiernan from all sides.

“Rendering Edge!”

Kiernan waved his hand and parried the attacks, but he didn’t stop there and kept moving forward as if he was walking through gunfire.

“What a masterful usage of Rendering Edge!”

Shiro admired.

“…Master Kiernan is still using Iron Style’s defensive stance, but how can he keep such a solid stance even under such a barrage of attacks?”

Cleo asked.

“I don’t know. The Iron Style defensive stance is very fragile, as it is easy to lose balance, but Master Kiernan has mastered it to perfection.”

Lumian said.

“Peacock Style, Death Dive!”

Girard thrust his left hand past Kiernan’s Rendering Edge and aimed at the side of his neck.

It neared Kiernan’s neck with alarming speed, but then, he suddenly swung his right arm and chopped Girard in the left shoulder.

CRACK!

“Void Chop!”

Girard’s left shoulder dislocated, and his face twisted in pain.

Beep!

[Martial Redemption Dojo: 0 → 225 Points]

“Reigning Fallow!”

Kiernan rained Girard with punches, and there was nothing else he could do except hunch over and defend himself pathetically.

East Side Dojo students looked frightened and screamed for him to keep on doing his best, but it really was not looking good.

The referee looked at the watch and then blew a whistle.

“Match is over!”

Kiernan stopped his attack and turned his gaze to the points board and nodded with satisfaction.

[Martial Redemption Dojo: 550 Points]

[East Side Dojo: 0 Points]
