Chapter 766: Two Masters

Celine, Real Rokyo.

A white van rolled to a stop next to a nice-looking wooden cottage that had big, flower-filled planters on the front porch.

The city of Real Rokyo seemed like a village—except it was enormous—with dirt roads, wooden cottage buildings, and dojos scattered about.

It was a really quaint-looking city, but it was closed to outsiders, and only the invited ones were allowed to enter.

“Whoah!”

Cleo exited the van and looked amazed at the sight of the city. It felt like they had come to a summer camp or something.

She excitedly took her bags and ran inside the cottage to check it out.

Lumian and Shiro left the van, stretched their limbs, and breathed in the fresh mountain air.

‘It does remind me of Tiamut’s Training Village, except a hundred times bigger.’

Kiernan thought and helped Aoi with the bags and entered the wooden cottage to check it out.

It had a spacious first floor with a cozy fireplace and rustic furniture. It had a kitchen at the back, and there were stairs to the basement.

The living room was connected to the dining area with a large window overlooking the forest outside.

The stairs to the second floor were located in the middle of the living room. Wooden stairs led up to four bedrooms and a bathroom.

There was also an attic.

“Alright! Lumian and Shiro will share a room. Cleo and Alpha take two other rooms, and I will take the fourth bedroom with Aoi!”

Kiernan shouted.

“Yes, master!”

His students shouted, and they quickly chose their rooms and started unpacking their things to get settled.

“I will message my grandfather that we’ve arrived. They arrived yesterday already.”

Aoi said and pulled out her phone to message him.

…

Later in the evening, Yokai Dojo’s master, Arakawa Raizen, Dante Rojas, and Gunwoo Park came to visit them at their cottage.

“It doesn’t feel like it has been that long since we last met, but you have already passed me in the Martial Arts Pathway.”

Arakawa Raizen shook Kiernan’s hand, treating him as an equal now.

He had been stuck in the Middle Stage Martial King for so long and had already given up on advancing further.

It felt unreal to see this nineteen-year-old surpass him so effortlessly and in such a short time.

He thought that Aoi definitely chose her husband well, as he was definitely going to become a legendary figure in the martial arts circle.

Dante and Gunwoo also greeted Kiernan, and they were friends, but they treated Kiernan with the same respect as they did with their master.

It was because he was also a master, and he had also achieved amazing things, such as his victory against Beast Prince Arazimir.

They gathered around the living room to chat about it, and shortly afterward, the rest of Kiernan’s students also joined in.

“You were part of Yokai Dojo?”

Cleo said in surprise after Dante told her that.

“Haha, yes. I actually started as a janitor there and eventually became a student over there.”

Kiernan said with a smile.

So many things had happened that it felt like an eternity ago.

“…Janitor? Unbelievable.”

Lumian whispered in disbelief.

“Ah, I am very embarrassed about that. It makes me chuckle a little bit when I think about making the greatest talent in the current generation of humans work a janitor job when I could’ve just had him as my student right away.”

Arakawa Raizen said with a wry smile.

“It’s where I also met Kiernan.”

Aoi said.

“…How did you get to Dusk Town to begin with? Aren’t you from New Rakuya, master?”

Cleo asked.

“…Destiny, I suppose.”

Kiernan said.

Alpha was just listening to the stories and thought about how he would also like to visit different places.

“Master Hunter, I actually came to talk to you about the Martial Arts Meet.”

Arakawa Raizen said.

“You can call me Kiernan.”

He said.

“In other situations, definitely, but we are here as masters, representatives of our dojos, so we need to play the part. You deserve the respect of being called Master, and if I didn’t, other masters might think of me as disrespectful.”

“…Very well then, Master Arakawa.”

Kiernan said with a nod.

“Martial Arts Meet will happen in a couple of days, and honestly, it will be a pretty short one for us, as we can’t survive for too long.

“The strongest dojos will have to stay here for a month or slightly over, but we weaker dojos can’t survive that long.

“I will be blunt—I think my dojo can last maybe three days, but your dojo is just very new, so you’d be lucky to make it through your first day.”

Arakawa Raizen said with a serious look.

Kiernan’s students felt ashamed at their lack of strength, but it was also true that they would probably not last long.

“I still don’t know much about Martial Arts Meet. Please, enlighten me, Master Arakawa.”

Kiernan said.

“It is a competition. Your dojo will go against another dojo in a series of challenges, and the winner will move on to the next round, and the loser will be eliminated from the competition.

“It’s the way rankings are decided.

“In those challenges, the strength of your students only matters. You’re very talented, Kiernan, but you can’t influence the outcome, as we masters have a small role to play.”

Arakawa Raizen said.

“…We might be the weakest dojo here.”

Kiernan said.

“…Honestly, you might be. I don’t quite understand why the government invited you, a new dojo, as it usually takes some dojos five to six years to even be considered for the first time.

“Your dojo has barely existed for two months!”

Arakawa Raizen said.

“I don’t know either, but it will be a good learning opportunity for my students, and even if we lose, we’ll come back stronger next year!”

Kiernan said.

“That’s the spirit! I think we better go rest and prepare for the Martial Arts Meet, and hopefully you’ll surprise everyone.”

Arakawa Raizen shook Kiernan’s hand and then hugged her granddaughter, but before leaving, he asked how she was doing.

He had heard about Aoi’s pregnancy and was so thrilled to hear that he was literally celebrating with cheers back in Dusk Town.

Of course, he didn’t want his students to tell them that.

It made him very happy that Aoi was happy and that she was going to have a child, but it also made him sad that Aoi’s parents weren’t here to see that.

Seeing that, Kiernan remembered that he hadn’t actually spoken to his mother and father about Aoi’s pregnancy.

‘I should call them.’

Kiernan thought.

After Arakawa Raizen, Dante, and Gunwoo left, Kiernan headed to his room to make a call to both of his parents.
