Chapter 738: Mars the Hero

Mars raised his warhammer high and brought it down at Rochan.

Rochan avoided the blow and watched as the warhammer smashed through the ground cleanly.

“Whoah…”

He switched the grip on the saber sword into a reverse grip and swung it through the air.

An aura slash flew out of the blade and headed straight to Mars, but he just smashed through it with his warhammer.

Unstoppable force, Mars!

“Prison Warden Mars…”

The prison guards whispered with amazement at the sight of their feared leader’s power.

“This is the reason why Mars became famous around World Seas in the first place. During the Dark Night of the Cold Moon festival, he single-handedly defeated an entire army of invaders.

“An entire fleet of pirates was attacking a small island called LaRessa Island, but Mars was there with just ten other navy soldiers.

“To protect the safety of the innocent citizens, Mars wielded his warhammer and single-handedly stopped the advancement of the evil!

“He is the hero of the LaRessa people and the great Prison Warden!”

In one hand, Mars was holding the warhammer, and with his left hand, he reached out to Rochan and seemed to be grabbing empty air.

“?!”

Rochan felt something appear behind him, and at that moment, he was put into a chokehold by an unknown entity.

When he turned around to look, there was no one there, as if an invisible man was chokeholding him!

Mars crossed the distance, raised his warhammer, and swung it towards his head.

“Fire Lord!”

In that moment, Rochan started burning hotter than a thousand degrees and got caught in the blaze of his own making.

The invisible man behind him got burned to ashes, and Rochan immediately dodged the warhammer strike.

BOOM!

The warhammer struck the ground, shaking the entire floor and the rest of the prison as well.

“Now it is fire? Just what is this guy’s ability?”

Mars asked himself.

He usually talked with every new inmate of his prison to find out their abilities, et cetera, but he really didn’t have any recollection of ever talking with Rochan.

It was almost like Rochan didn’t even belong to this prison, as he couldn’t remember ever having such a prisoner!

Rochan covered the blade of his sword in flames and clashed with the warhammer, sending sparks flying in all directions.

“Piss off!”

Mars swung the warhammer with great force and sent Rochan flying backwards through the air.

Before he could chase after him, a butterfly-winged woman descended down from the air.

Mars lifted his warhammer and blocked her kick.

The clash of the two auras created a shockwave that rippled through the air, knocking both of them off balance.

“Whistle~ Some help!”

Rochan whistled to the Martial Legends, and a few of them split from the main battle to help them with Mars.

They surrounded Mars and unleashed their Martial Abilities.

Mars, with one hand, swung the warhammer as if it were light as a feather and smashed through their martial abilities.

Renette triple kicked Mars in the chest, and then, Rochan threw a flaming spear, which Mars blocked with the warhammer.

The rest of the Martial Legends released their attacks on his backside, and some of them landed successfully.

“Ugh…”

Mars stumbled forward, and then, he slammed the warhammer on the ground, and a shockwave spread across all directions, knocking all of his opponents off their feet.

“Army of Ghosts!”

He spread his arms, and a couple dozen invisible men jumped from his body and attacked everyone in his vicinity.

Since they were invisible, their attacks came from nowhere, but their strength really didn’t match well with those above Martial Kings.

Renette cut through everything in her way with her wings and kicked Mars’ warhammer off his hand with a swift movement.

“You…”

Mars caught her by the throat, slammed her down to the ground, and made one of his invisible men fetch his warhammer.

Once the warhammer returned to his hand, he pressed it against her chest, and the entirety of the warhammer started glowing.

“?!”

Renette’s eyes widened in a panic.

In that moment, a sharp kick came from his side, and Mars barely managed to block it with his warhammer just in time.

It still sent him flying back several feet.

“Who…?”

He turned to look at the man that he didn’t recognize and frowned.

“Are you okay?”

Kiernan asked.

“…Thank you.”

Renette said with a smile and jumped back to her feet. She brushed off the dust from her knees and said.

“I will be handling this. You can step back now.”

She said.

‘Why is she talking like that to him…? Could it be that this guy is the mastermind?’

Mars looked at Kiernan with a serious look on his face and took a step to approach him, but in that moment, he was rained on with attacks from all sides.

Yet, his attention was still on Kiernan, like a hunter focused on its prey.

“…”

Kiernan saw the gaze, but he ignored it and returned back to the sidelines.

“Why did you help her?”

Julian whispered into his ear.

He thought that Kiernan wanted the criminals to either die or get recaptured, but for some reason he went to help her.

“I need her help with the escape. Someone has to attract the aggro of the navy, and she is the only one capable of doing that.”

Kiernan said.

There was also another reason.

He had to make Mars attack him so he could trick him into killing Langham while he was at it.

The battle kept raging on.

In the main battle, it was pretty even with the criminals and the prison guards, as both sides were quite injured.

The number of the criminals had been reduced by half already, and it was mostly Martial Masters and Martial Grandmasters who died.

In the battle with Mars, Rochan, Renette, and several Martial Legends, it was also quite even.

Mars was riddled with injuries, but he still moved like he was in perfect health. It was ridiculous how tanky he was.

Meanwhile, Kiernan was checking the time on the phone and then tossed it back inside his inventory.

“It is about time that we should start heading out. The navy shouldn’t be too far from here now.”

“Can’t we just make a run for it? Just two of us? You are the only one capable of controlling the elevators, and we can leave the rest behind.”

Julian said.

“…We can’t. I have checked the cameras, and they’ve left several strong fighters in the first level just in case.

“We need the criminal’s help if we want to escape.”

Kiernan said.
