Martial Arts Worlds - Chapter 729
Chapter 729: Chained Woman
Level 12, Control Room.
Tap… tap… tap…
Kiernan pressed on every button on the keyboard, but nothing seemed to work, not even the monitor cameras.
They were only showing red with the word “alarm” going off.
He then waved his hand.
A pond of black smoke appeared next to him, and one of the prison guards appeared from the smoke, coughing and wheezing.
“Cough… Wheeze… Ahh!”
He touched his throat and looked panicky.
While he wasn’t that long in that strange dark world, it really felt like he was hours in there, just being slowly suffocated by the smoke.
It was the worst feeling he had ever experienced.
‘T-The alarm… went off…’
The prison guard said as he looked at the flashing red lights, but since this guy was still here, it meant that Prison Warden Mars hadn’t come to rescue them just yet.
“Hello. I don’t think we’ve met. My name is Jack.”
Kiernan crouched before him with a smile on his face, and touched his bleeding stomach with gentle fingers.
He covered the wound with his darkness, and it started to slowly heal.
“I brought you here instead of your loud-mouthed friend. I think you are a smart guy, and I only need help with one thing.”
Kiernan said.
“W-What… do you want?”
He asked, his voice trembling.
“I think you are a smart guy, and you must know everything there is about this system. I only need you to make those monitors work so I can see the cameras, and I also need access to the elevators.”
Kiernan said.
“…That’s it?”
He asked.
“That’s it.”
Kiernan smiled.
“…Very well.”
The prison guard said, was helped to his feet by Kiernan, stumbled to the keyboard under Kiernan’s watchful eye.
“I don’t think I need to tell you what happens if you try something stupid.”
Kiernan said.
“I have a wife with a baby coming. You think I will do anything to jeopardize that?”
The prison guard asked.
“Fair point. What about your friend? Is he also a family man?”
Kiernan said as he walked around the control room, looking at the things on the walls.
“Him? This prison is his life. He joined the navy when he reached the Age of Growth, and after several incidents atsea, he was assigned here.
“It was thought to be career suicide, but he got delusions of becoming the next Prison Warden. He didn’t realize that we, the control room Prison Guards, were meant to die in case someone broke out.
“Right above us, the Killer of the Red Sun is imprisoned. This is the first place she will attack if she manages to escape.
“The Prison Guards of this floor are meant to die so that the alarm goes off to signal Prison Warden, and the rest that there is a possibility of her escaping.
“They’ve already called the navy fleet, and they are sending their strongest ships to intercept her if she manages to escape.”
The prison guard said.
And then, he typed something on the keyboard, and the red flashing lights disappeared. The cameras also showed again on the monitor.
“You have the elevator access.”
He said.
“Shut off every elevator on the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth floors. Leave elevators of fifth to ninth intact.”
“What about the tenth, eleventh, and this floor’s elevators?”
The prison guard asked.
“Leave them be for now. I want absolute access to the elevators on every floor on my phone, and also the cameras. Can you give it to me?”
Kiernan asked.
“Give me your phone, and I will do it.”
The prison guard showed his empty hand, and from his pocket, Kiernan pulled out a phone and handed it over to him.
‘How did he manage to get a phone inside…’
The prison guard wondered for a moment and noticed that the phone was brand new.
There was nothing in the phone that he could use to find out more about this Jack guy, and thus, he quickly gave him the elevator and camera access.
“With this app, you can control the elevators as you wish, and you can also see the cameras on whatever floor you want.”
The prison guard said.
“Thanks, and don’t worry, you don’t need to lie about what happened here to the Prison Warden, and the rest.”
Kiernan said and pocketed the phone.
“What do you mean?”
The prison guard frowned.
In that moment, Kiernan chopped his hand at the back of his neck, and he dropped to the ground unconscious.
“Twisted Amnesia…”
“Your job is to press that button.”
Kiernan patted the shoulders of the Explosive Paper Slip Figurines and looked at the big red button at the middle of the desk.
It was the button to open up the ceiling of the prison, which was the only place to escape this wretched place.
Explosive Paper Slip Figurines didn’t react, but they knew their job and stayed sitting still like the loyal and obedient creatures they were.
Kiernan entered the elevator, controlled it with the phone, and descended down to the eleventh floor.
When the elevator doors opened, a dark corridor opened up before him, and Kiernan slowly walked forward.
He instinctively turned to look left at the bulletproof glass, and dangling from the ceiling, the crazy-looking woman wasn’t sleeping anymore.
Her head was up, staring at him with her wild eyes, and she mysteriously smiled like a vixen.
“…”
Kiernan stopped walking, turned to look at her, and slipped his hands inside his pockets.
“You…”
She spoke, but it sounded like she hadn’t used her voice in many years and took a moment to find it.
“…Help me?”
She asked.
“Help you? I don’t know. You do scare me a little bit.”
Kiernan said with a smile.
“Giggle~”
She giggled and smiled sweetly despite the stitches making her look closer to a monster.
“I… If you help me… I will be in your debt forever.”
“Forever is a long time.”
Kiernan said.
“It can’t be worse than this place…”
She said.
‘I didn’t come here to let one of the greatest criminals in the history of the world escape. If I did that, Xerxus will probably kill me.
‘However, also escaping without her is quite impossible. I can pin this escape onto her and have her bait the navy while I use the commotion to escape.’
Kiernan thought and smiled.
‘What a nasty decision I have to make.’
