Martial Arts Worlds - Chapter 642
Chapter 642: Sheriff
Candlelight Ripper crawled through the mud with a dent in his chest. It looked like he got hit pretty hard.
He was wheezing as if he had difficulty breathing.
“…Where am I, hmm?”
Kiernan put his foot on Candlelight Ripper’s back, stopping him from crawling any further, and then turned him around.
Candlelight Ripper swung his pointy hook, but Kiernan caught it with ease and yanked it out of his hand.
“We, the Order of the Candelight Rippers, rip this world from all of its light and plunge it into darkness!”
“Never heard of you.”
Kiernan said.
“Then you are definitely lost. Everyone on this planet has heard of us, as we’re candlebearers of the eternal flame.”
Candlelight Ripper said.
‘…This guy either has a bloated sense of importance, or I might not be back in the real world just yet. Am I in another fake world, or what the hell is going on?’
“We shall bathe you in the blood of your wife and children. We, the Candlelight Rippers, are the great evil of the world!”
Candlelight Ripper shouted in excitement.
“Yeah, yeah…”
Kiernan swung the pointy hook down, pierced through Candlelight Ripper’s skull, and yanked it out with a sickening squelch.
“Whistle~ Come on, boy!”
He whistled for Fen, and he quickly followed after him.
Leaving behind the corpse of the Candlelight Ripper and the destroyed wagon, they just followed the road, as it surely would take them somewhere.
Candlelight Ripper was taking this road somewhere for a reason.
After walking all night, they were ready to take a short rest at one of the fallen trunks that lined the dirt road, but in that moment, Fen howled.
Fen stared at the distance at the pillar of smoke that wafted from afar, and Kiernan quickly headed over there.
When they left the forest, they came across a town. All buildings were simply lining the main street, with there being a T-junction at the end.
It was a town that resembled quite a bitthose old Wild West places that he used to watch back on Earth.
With Fen in tow, Kiernan entered the place and walked down the street, but he could feel that people were looking at him through the dusty windows of the saloons and general stores.
He arrived at the old saloon and pushed open its swinging doors.
The saloon turned quiet. Everyone inside turned to look at him. They all had revolvers holstered on their hips.
They didn’t look friendly.
Tap~ Tap~ Tap~
Kiernan stepped down the dusty floors. Fen followed him. The people inside stared at Fen and Kiernan with narrowed eyes.
They hadn’t seen an animal like Fen before. He wasn’t using his Ethereal Bond form currently.
“May I get water?”
Kiernan sat on the high stool and asked the bartender, who just grumpily nodded in response and poured him a half-full cup of water.
However, before handing him a cup of water, he put his hand forward and asked for payment first.
“Sure thing…”
Kiernan reached into his pocket, pulled out a gold coin, and gave it to him.
When the bartender saw the gold coin, his eyes turned to saucers, and he quickly pocketed it before heading to the back.
The people inside the saloon saw the gold coin. They exchanged greedy glances. One after another, they started approaching Kiernan.
Kiernan took a sip of the water, let out a relieving sigh, and then turned around on the stool, looking at the dusty, grime-covered faces of the saloon people.
“You must be really rich to just give away gold like that, boy. Why don’t you share some of that wealth with us?”
One of them asked with a yellowish-teeth smile.
“I don’t mind giving some if you point me to the closest phone.”
Kiernan said.
“…What the fuck is a phone?”
The man asked with a frown.
“…Sigh, that’s just great.”
Kiernan chuckled, scratched the back of his head, and drank the water.
“Give the gold, now!”
The man pulled out his revolver and pointed it at Kiernan. The grip on the revolver was steady. It was clearly not his first time holding that revolver.
“…”
Fen stayed silent.
Not even his Guardian’s Instinct went off, as he could tell that none of these people posed a threat to his master.
“Where am I?”
Kiernan’s eyes were cold, and at that moment, he released his Martial King aura with a dominating presence.
BOOM! CRACK! SHATTER!
The saloon’s windows exploded, and its swinging door flew off its hinges.
Everyone inside the saloon were sent flying to the ground, and their revolvers had flown out of their hands.
They were looking at Kiernan with frightened gazes.
“He is one of the Evil God apostles!”
“Run for your lives!”
They scurried away, leaving the saloon with tails between their legs, and not a single one of them stayed.
“Fen, I think we are not at home just yet. We were lied to. I guess there is another person we need to punch.”
Kiernan said with a sigh, and Fen whimpered as he was also feeling homesick.
A while later, the stomping of feet came from the front of the saloon, and with a shotgun in hand, a wide-brimmed-hat-wearing man entered.
He had a sheriff’s badge on his chest, and there were frightened townspeople just waiting outside.
“Ptui!”
The sheriff spat on the ground, wiped it off with his boot, and then cocked the shotgun.
“Hey, demonsbane. You think you can come to terrorize my town and get away with it? I have dealt with you Evil God apostles before, and all of you have met the same fate.”
“I am not here to cause trouble. It was your people who tried robbing me. I gave them warning to stay the fuck away from me.”
Kiernan said.
“Blah, blah, blah… Bloh, bloh, bloh… Bleh, bleh, bleh!”
The sheriff mocked his accent, pointed the shotgun straight at his head, and approached him with fearless steps.
“Did I fucking ask for your version of the story, demonsbane?”
“Fair justice system you got.”
Kiernan said mockingly.
BANG!
The sheriff pulled the trigger on the shotgun. The rain of bullets came at Kiernan. He vanished from his stool.
The bullets embedded themselves into the wooden wall at the back, leaving splinters flying in all directions.
With Void Step, Kiernan appeared behind the sheriff and shot his fist towards him, but in that moment, the sheriff caught his fist with his bare hand.
The impact of palm and fist cracked the floor beneath them.
“Hmph!”
The sheriff towered over Kiernan. He was muscular, broad-shouldered, and made of pure hard muscle.
“You’re strong.”
Kiernan said.
“I know.”
The sheriff said, and at that moment, he headbutted Kiernan straight in the face and sent him flying through the saloon wall.
