Capítulo 608: Wrong Guess

Selina blinked. She was being bullied? Seriously?

“I’m late.”

The next moment, a smooth, clear male voice came from outside the S suite. Logan chuckled lightly as he knocked on the door.

The Brown Family all turned their heads.

Logan’s lips curved faintly, and he gave Selina a small nod.

Mrs. Brown frowned, displeased. “Mr. Reid, where were you just now? You didn’t even bother to help Selina. You left her to be bullied by that crowd, and you’re not even ashamed of yourself.”

“My fault. Mrs. Brown is right to scold me.”

Logan stepped inside. “I went to meet with a senior.”

Hearing that he had gone to see a senior, Mrs. Brown didn’t press further, though Selina raised a brow.

Logan came to NF Restaurant to see a senior?

She had seen every guest who came today. Apart from the older artists attending the apprenticeship banquet, no one else could possibly qualify as Logan’s senior.

She shot him a questioning look. Logan only nodded back at her.

And suddenly, she understood.

She got it!

The so-called senior Logan went to see had to be one of those artists!

“Logan, I know who you went to see.”

Logan’s brows lifted slightly. “Oh?”

He had gone to meet a friend—someone who also stood tall in the world of oil painting. The two had become close after their first meeting. Despite their great age difference, they had been like lifelong confidants.

Logan had gone especially to see this friend.

But how could Selina know that the person he met was Samuel’s teacher? Samuel’s teacher hadn’t even shown up today—Samuel himself didn’t know.

That senior had come partly to reunite with Logan, his old friend, and partly to see if Samuel’s chosen student was worthy.

The truth was, the senior had already been disappointed with Samuel—and seeing the kind of student Samuel had taken on made him even more disheartened.

Thinking of this, Logan gave a quiet smile. “You know who I went to see?”

“Of course!” Selina blurted without hesitation. “I know you went to see Mr. Brandon.”

Logan’s fingers stilled. “You said… who?”

Mr. Brandon?

Logan couldn’t help a laugh.

So that’s what she thought. Too bad Mrs. Reid had guessed wrong again.

“Everyone’s here—let’s start the dinner.” Just then, Mr. Brown gave the signal for the servers to bring out the dishes.

The meal was filled with warmth and laughter. NF Restaurant wasn’t just a place to eat—it also offered lodging and hot springs. Selina left the S suite for Mrs. Brown to enjoy, so that if she wanted a soak in the hot springs, she could go anytime.

Once everything was arranged, a sudden knock came at the door of the S suite—

“Miss Clark, the guests in the A suite have invited you to attend their apprenticeship banquet.”

The manager stood outside. Remembering Hannah’s earlier words, he felt disgusted, but as a manager, his duty was to pass on the message. Hannah had told him flatly that Selina was a Hill Family daughter and he, an outsider, shouldn’t meddle—just deliver the invitation.

And so he had.

Selina narrowed her eyes, her tone deliberately slow. “Not going.”

The audacity—they still had the nerve to invite her.

After that brief interruption, Selina and Logan said their farewells to Mrs. Brown and left the S suite.

Because of the layout, the alternate route from the S suite was blocked whenever it was in use. So the only way out for Selina was to pass directly by the doors of the A suite.

As they walked, Logan asked with a soft chuckle, “Why were you so sure earlier that I went to see Mr. Brandon?”

Mr. Brandon was, in fact…

“What kind of question is that?”

Selina answered naturally, “A senior you respect that much—who else could it be?”

“If you already know Mr. Brandon is here, don’t you want to meet him?”

Selina still shook her head.

“In that case, shall we go home?”

Selina nodded. Just then, they passed by the entrance of the A suite.

The door swung open.

Hannah’s surprised voice rang out. “Selina? You came.”

Selina frowned, but before she could say anything, Hannah turned toward the people inside and said, “Master Samuel, the Selina I mentioned has arrived.”

The room went quiet for a few seconds.

Earlier, Hannah and Ava had told everyone that Selina was deeply passionate about oil painting and wanted to learn under Master Samuel. Samuel hadn’t wanted to agree, but since Ava was his student—and part of the Hill Family—he reluctantly consented to at least meet Selina.

But when the waiter delivered the invitation, Selina had sent back word that she looked down on Samuel and refused to come.

Then whispers began spreading—that another figure had shown up today, someone of such stature that even his name made people tremble. A senior above Samuel himself. People said Selina had gone to see him instead.

When asked who it was, the reply came quietly: Samuel’s own teacher, and even Mr. Brandon, had arrived.

The moment those names dropped, the entire room fell into hushed silence.

Samuel’s teacher was one of the kings of the oil painting world. And Mr. Brandon…

Samuel’s face had darkened immediately when he heard.

Here he was, holding an apprenticeship banquet, and yet his own teacher didn’t come to see him. What did that mean—his teacher no longer valued him?

He had always known his teacher wasn’t particularly impressed with him. But to hear that Selina herself had dismissed him, only to seek out his teacher and Mr. Brandon? Samuel’s pride nearly shattered. His expression had stayed stormy ever since.

And now word came that Selina had arrived at the A suite.

Ha. What was this supposed to mean?

She must have been turned away by Mr. Brandon and his teacher, so she came crawling back to him?

Hannah strolled over with a pleasant smile. “Selina must have come around, Master Samuel. What do you think?”

Samuel tilted his chin arrogantly, his expression dripping with disdain. “Am I expected to meet with just anyone who comes knocking? Today is my student’s apprenticeship banquet. Don’t bring every stray cat and dog into my suite.”

Just outside the suite, Selina froze for a beat, her brows arched slightly, then she lifted her foot and kept walking.

The A suite was simply on her path out… Who said she was here to ‘apprentice’?

“Selina, Selina!” Hannah hurried after her, speaking loudly enough for the entire suite to hear. “You child, Master Samuel only scolded you a little, and you’re already upset? If you truly want to learn, you should have a proper talk with him.”

She played the part of a kind, well-meaning elder, seemingly going out of her way to help Selina find a good teacher—while the child pouted unreasonably.

Did Selina not realize how much of an honor it was to be accepted as Master Samuel’s student?

Ava certainly did.

Hannah’s voice softened. “Master Samuel is a senior. He won’t hold a grudge against a junior like you. Just be obedient, admit your mistake, bow your head, and everything will be fine.”

Selina lifted her gaze, her voice cool. “Step aside.”

“Selina, I know you—”

“Hill Madam, when you blocked me at the entrance earlier, it proved you were imagining things.”

Selina’s tone remained flat. “And now you want to imagine things again?”

The words fell, and the atmosphere instantly stilled.

Hannah’s expression didn’t falter. She even sighed softly. “About earlier, I apologize. But I don’t want you to let your temper cause you to miss out on such a great teacher as Master Samuel.”

Logan’s eyes narrowed.
