Magus Supremacy - Chapter 730
Capítulo 730: A Stupid Decision?
CHAPTER 730
“Appraisal.”
The shimmering, translucent runes materialized immediately in front of his vision as he stared intently at the sword held firmly in his grip.
<Abilities:
Indestructibility: This blade was forged from the core of an almost indestructible divine beast. Its physical body was so incredibly hard that it was nearly impossible to overcome; hence, the sword inherited that exact same attribute.
Energy Veil: This specific ability allows the sword user to store up to half of their total energy within the blade, whether that be mana or whatever unique power they currently wield.
This energy will remain stored for as long as the wielder desires and can be consumed with just a simple thought to replenish the user’s reserves.
Soul Link: This weapon can be linked directly to a wielder’s soul, ensuring that no other individual can wield the tool unless the original owner is deceased.
Furthermore, it can vanish into the linked soul’s core and be summoned back out with a mere thought. (To initiate the soul link, pierce your own body with the blade right at the abdomen.)>
Grey blinked rapidly at the detailed information flashing in front of his face while he struggled to fully process the extraordinary things he was seeing.
‘This sword can actually do all that?! And I have been using it like a common kitchen knife to just slice and dice my enemies? What the hell?!’
It felt as though his eyes were about to pop out of their sockets as he stared at the legendary weapon in front of him.
He took in several deep breaths, trying desperately to regain his composure while continuing to study the steel.
‘Damn! This blade is remarkably powerful. I truly wonder how much more formidable it will become if I manage to upgrade it further,’ he mused silently as he watched the metal in front of him.
A knowing smile crossed his face as he observed the blade gleaming softly in the dim light.
‘I don’t know who Thalos’ master was, but I truly have to give it to the man. He crafted a genuine masterpiece of a weapon.’
He lifted the sword high in the air, watching as the stray sunlight hit the edge, making it give off an ethereal, soft glow.
“Well, let’s link up, shall we?” He gulped loudly as he turned his head toward where Clarice was standing.
She wasn’t paying any attention to him at the moment as she strived to prepare breakfast alone in the corner.
Grey turned the sharp tip of the blade toward himself and stared at it for a few tense seconds, contemplating exactly how to go about this painful process.
‘Damn it! I can’t just casually stab myself. I know that I am quite crazy, but am I really insane enough to impale my own body knowingly? That seems rather absurd.’
“But you literally sliced your own arm off during that battle with the demon, right? What is the difference now?” Noir uttered in his mind from right across the room, his voice echoing with a hint of a taunt.
“Are you inside my head again? Get out of there, you furry bastard!” Grey shot the wolf a sharp death glare.
Then he turned his attention back to the sword.
‘Back then, my life was in extreme danger; hence, I had to do something drastic by cutting off my hand. Right now, there is no immediate danger, and I honestly feel terrified of doing this.’
Noir’s furry face curled into a slight, mocking smirk.
“Let me assist you.”
Currently, Grey felt like sending a massive lightning bolt toward the wolf’s direction, but he had to force himself to calm down.
“Well… let’s give this a try then.”
He took in a few sharp breaths, steeling his resolve as he placed the cold sword close to his abdomen.
His grip remained tight on the guard, and his face was already twisted in perceived pain even though he hadn’t actually done anything yet.
‘If you do not do it now, someone else might eventually get their hands on this sword. Besides, you can just use your ki to seal your body afterward.’
Slight beads of sweat trickled down his face as he stared at the sharp edge again.
His gaze hardened as he ground his teeth back and forth.
All of a sudden, two mini-versions of Grey appeared around him, hovering in the air like spectral manifestations of his psyche.
“Oh, come on! Why are you suddenly being such a pussy about it?” the first mini-Grey groaned out, crossing his tiny arms in annoyance.
The second manifestation merely smirked, waiting to see if the mage would follow through with the ritual.
“Remember the last time? You were such a coward that you were unable to follow through. But now, if you actually do it, you can gain a truly powerful weapon, so stop being a pussy.”
The first manifestation added with a mocking sneer;
“Or aren’t you supposed to be the Supreme Magus? Or perhaps we should just call you the Supreme Chicken instead?”
They both laughed together with a dark, mocking glee that echoed in his skull.
Grey’s teeth grated back and forth in pure, unadulterated rage at the insulting words flowing through his mind.
Without any further hesitation or doubt, he lifted his sword high.
“Breakfast is re…” Clarice suddenly froze mid-sentence as she turned her head to see Grey lifting the weapon up, the sharp tip pointed directly at his own body.
The ceramic plate in her hand slipped from her fingers, shattering on the floor as her eyes widened in absolute horror.
“Grey! What on earth are you doing?!” She shouted at the top of her lungs as she made haste to dash forward across the room.
‘Here goes nothing. It surely cannot be that painful,’ Grey resolved firmly, remaining entirely oblivious to the shouting woman’s panicked approach.
“Grey, Stop!”
With Ki coursing through his hands, every single drop of that energy swirling around his limbs while leaving none to protect his physical body, he hurled his hand forward with full force.
He kept his eyes tightly shut, bracing for the inevitable impact.
“NOOO!” Clarice roared in motherly horror as she leaped forward, hands outstretched trying to stop the mage but it was too late.
TCHWK!
The sword sliced cleanly through Grey’s abdomen as bright blood sprayed out in rhythmic waves.
The weapon drove in deeply, lodging itself far inside his body as he gasped desperately for air.
It felt like time itself had paused in that singular moment.
It was as if the entire world froze at the reckless move the warrior had just pulled off.
‘Okay. I take it all back, this hurts like hell!’
An almost electrical, searing kind of pain surged through his whole body as his blood spewed out onto the floor.
The very next second, a faint, high-pitched crackling sound was heard and before Clarice could even land on the ground from her desperate leap…
SWOOOSH!
WAM!
An enormous gust of wind blasted out with a crushing, invisible force from all around the sword and most especially from the wound in his abdomen.
It smashed directly into Clarice, sending her slender form hurtling through the air.
The entire house trembled under the pressure as Grey’s own body was also blasted backwards.
He smashed violently into the wall, and more blood sprayed from his mouth, splattering across the sword still lodged deep in his gut.
While this chaos unfolded, Noir remained lying down with an almost amused smile on his furry face.
He watched the Supreme Magus suffer as Grey slid down from the wall and collapsed onto the ground with a dull, heavy thud.
