Magus Supremacy - Chapter 718
Capítulo 718: Just like you!
CHAPTER 718
‘Oh boy. This is bad.’ Ash gulped as the deafening bang erupted from Frowny’s charge, officially signalling the brutal commencement of the clash.
Grey wasted no time shifting into a combat stance, arm stretched forward while a lightning sword crackled into existence within his grasp, concealed from the robed man’s view.
Frowny’s body blocked the weapon completely, preventing the observer from noticing the flickering blade.
Sensing danger, Frowny swiftly manifested a visible Ki sword inside his palm, the weapon brimming with lethal force and the pressure of a battle seasoned veteran.
Within a heartbeat, he was already upon the mage, blade arcing overhead before crashing downward like a cleaver meant to split flesh and bone apart.
Wind spiralled around Grey’s feet in a flash, launching him sideways as the Ki sword narrowly missed him by a hair’s breadth.
The strike released a violent Ki wave that ripped through the exact spot Grey had occupied moments earlier, blasting stones skyward as the mountain quaked beneath the impact.
Grey’s pulse thundered.
‘That was too close. Worse still, I cannot afford complex spells right now. If I rely heavily on magic techniques, my mana will drain within seconds, leaving me defenceless once the robed man intervenes.’
Seizing the narrow opening, the mage surged forward and swung his lightning sword horizontally toward the exposed flank of the charging warrior.
Sensing the scorching arc slicing toward him, Frowny pivoted sharply on one heel, twisting his body aside with remarkable agility and narrowly evading the slash.
Without hesitation, the stage six warrior retaliated, thrusting his Ki blade toward Grey’s uncovered arm with deadly precision.
With instincts sharpened by countless battles and his affinity with wind reinforcing his reactions, the warrior mage spun his body smoothly.
His lightning blade snapped into position just in time, intercepting the thrust head on.
A sharp crack echoed from the collision as sparks scattered violently.
Grey’s muscles shuddered as the impact forced him backward, boots scraping against stone while his jaw clenched tightly.
‘Damn it. I have relied on overwhelming magic for too long. I nearly forgot how terrifying a stage six warrior truly is in direct combat.’
Before he could stabilise himself, Frowny closed in again, delivering a crushing downward strike aimed directly at Grey’s skull.
Wind flared around Grey’s form, propelling him aside as the attack narrowly missed, his heartbeat pounding furiously within his chest.
‘When I fought Rivock, another stage six, I was unleashed completely, drowning the battlefield in lightning without restraint.
Back then, my reserves were full. Now they are not. I cannot afford reckless devastation, especially with Anna and Ash nearby.’
Planting one foot firmly, Grey narrowed his gaze as Ki condensed beneath his soles. His muscles tensed, teeth grinding as power coiled tightly within his legs.
He exploded forward like a bolt, vanishing from his previous position.
In the blink of an eye, he crossed the distance separating him from Frowny and slashed toward the man’s abdomen with everything he had left.
Lightning surged violently from the blade, bursting outward as a blazing arc streaked straight toward the stage six warrior.
But with a subtle adjustment of his footing, the warrior blurred through the assault, allowing the lightning arc to slam into the mountain behind him, tearing apart a massive chunk of stone while dust and shattered rock erupted outward in a choking cloud.
Ash stood frozen, eyes wide, as he watched the exchange between the once terrifying Supreme Magus and the stage six combatant with unfiltered amazement and disbelief.
“How could you ever think of challenging us?”
The voice drifted into Grey’s hearing from behind as Frowny’s arm flickered toward the mage’s head, fingers stretched to seize him.
Yet in the very next instant, the mage vanished entirely, leaving Frowny grasping nothing but empty air.
“Wind pulse.”
Bang. Bang. Bang.
Three invisible projectiles resembling compressed gales erupted from Grey’s fingertips, racing toward Frowny at blistering speed.
As expected, the warrior scowled.
Spinning sharply, he swept his Ki blade through the space ahead.
Although the attack remained unseen, he sensed its trajectory and met every strike flawlessly.
The echo that followed resembled solid metal smashing repeatedly against glass as his weapon shredded each invisible blast with brutal efficiency.
The robed man observed quietly, mild interest dancing within his gaze as he continued underestimating the field agent’s adaptability.
Landing several metres away, Ki flared beneath Grey’s boots.
With a thunderous burst, he surged forward in a straight dash.
“How foolish can you truly be?” Frowny barked, a trace of amusement creeping across his stern features as he watched the mage rush directly toward him.
Within a blink, Grey was already there, hauling his blade into a sweeping horizontal strike. Frowny braced himself to intercept.
Then Grey smirked beneath the mask.
He vanished.
Instantly, the mage reappeared midair directly above the warrior.
“Block this.”
Snap.
Twenty lightning arrows materialised at once, screaming downward from the sky like divine punishment, all aimed squarely at Frowny.
The robed man stiffened, shock flashing across his face.
Had his eyes been capable of popping free, they surely would have from how widely they stretched.
He could not comprehend what the so called field agent had just unleashed.
“How is that possible?”
Frowny merely smirked, unmoving, gaze locked on the incoming barrage.
A heartbeat later, the arrows struck.
Explosions erupted violently around his position, lightning detonating again and again with crushing intensity.
Yet astonishingly, none of the attacks touched him.
They shattered against empty air, dispersing as though colliding with an unseen wall separating the warrior from harm.
Grey’s brows knitted tightly as he realised the futility of the assault.
Dropping back to the ground, his expression hardened.
As the final sparks faded, Frowny casually brushed imaginary dust from his pristine attire, the hint of arrogance surfacing beneath his perpetual frown.
“Seems the kid resembles you quite a lot, hm?”
Grey lifted a brow, puzzled, when suddenly.
BANG.
“Indeed.”
The voice sounded directly behind him.
Grey spun in alarm, heart lurching, only to find the robed man standing inches away, palms extended toward his chest.
Lightning crackled violently around those hands, energy condensing and ready to be unleashed at point blank distance.
‘Shoot.’
