Capítulo 717: An Order!

CHAPTER 717

“Yo… you are a member of the Midnight Sun Clan!”

***

‘Now I know where I have seen that insignia from.’ Ash exclaimed inwardly as he focused on the yellow robed man, his heartbeat subtly increasing.

Then his gaze drifted towards the second individual who wore a complete set of white attire.

From his shirt to his trousers, everything carried the same colour.

Pristine. Immaculate. Untainted.

‘And that should be a higher ranked member from the Umbrafell faction huh.’

The Umbrafell faction, unlike the other powers that had two or more clans governing them, was structured quite differently.

They possessed just a single clan overseeing the entire faction.

That clan, in turn, had only one leader who functioned as the public head.

However, what the majority of the public never truly knew was that the faction leader answered to a council.

A gathering of powerful, often aged warriors who operated from the shadows.

Each council member was formidable in their own right, boasting frightening strength and vast experience.

Once someone reached stage six and stood at the brink of evolution or higher, they automatically became eligible for council membership whenever an existing seat opened.

Right now, it was evident that this man belonged to the higher ranks of the faction, and that assumption was accurate.

The pressure he radiated alone confirmed that he was a stage six warrior.

High ranking Umbrafell members were infamous for their pristine white clothing.

Elder figures adorned long white robes, while elite commanders wore fitted garments, still maintaining that signature pale aesthetic.

The man exuded a suffocating dominance as he stared at Grey with an unchanging scowl etched across his face.

Seeing that expression, Grey was momentarily tempted to nickname the man frowny.

Still, he dismissed the thought quickly, his attention remaining locked on the yellow robed figure instead.

The Midnight Sun Clan member.

A clan that collaborated with multiple factions to enforce order within the Vayun world.

They apprehended rogue warriors, neutralized uncontrollable threats, and acted as enforcers when conflicts spiraled beyond control.

In simpler terms, they functioned as the world’s regulators.

While Grey had never been interested in joining, circumstances once forced him into becoming a member within the clan for his own protection.

Thinking about it now, that protection was no longer necessary.

He had long surpassed the need for external backing.

In truth, he had even forgotten about the clan’s existence entirely.

Yet here it was. A representative from the Midnight Sun standing before him, glaring without restraint.

“Who are you?” the robed man demanded, his voice edged with authority.

Grey tilted his head slightly, eyes studying him through the mask.

“Shouldn’t it be obvious already? From the beeping we both received.”

Frowny shifted his stance, turning towards the robed man.

“You know him?”

The robed man shook his head calmly.

“Not personally. However, if my assumption is correct, which I am confident it is, he is a field agent of our organisation. The Midnight Sun.”

Frowny raised an eyebrow slowly.

“Oh.”

After a brief pause, he added with indifference;

“Then this should be easier for you, since you outrank him within the structure.”

The robed man nodded faintly, a small smirk tugging at his lips before his gaze returned to Grey, eyes glinting with intent.

“I could feel your aura from deep within that cave. Coming out here to see this,” he said calmly.

He extended a finger, pointing at the lifeless bodies scattered across the mountain top. Blood stained the ground, soaking into the dirt and stone.

“Considering what I’m seeing,” he continued evenly, “it’s obvious you are strong. I don’t know how you managed this, judging by the fact that you are merely a stage four warrior and a field agent of the organisation.”

He paused, studying Grey’s stance carefully, watching for any shift or reaction.

“But I don’t particularly care,” he added with a dismissive tone.

“Your actions can be overlooked since you were unaware that someone like me was present.

So why don’t you return with your companion over there, walk away quietly, and don’t look back. Do not even entertain the thought of saving the girl.”

None of the men could tell if their words reached Grey properly.

His face was hidden behind the mask, leaving them clueless about the expression he wore at that moment.

The Supreme Magus remained silent, taking several seconds to process everything that had been said.

Slowly, he turned his gaze toward Anna, who still lay on the ground, barely able to breathe.

‘She’s a stage five warrior, dangerously close to stage six, yet she’s reduced to this state. It’s obvious those weak fools weren’t responsible. It had to be these two.’

His eyes narrowed slightly.

‘If they subdued someone at her level this easily, then their strength is no joke.’

He inhaled deeply, weighing his options carefully.

‘I don’t have much mana left. My ki alone at stage four won’t be enough to handle both of them.

I can’t abandon her either. If no one helps her soon, she might actually die from those injuries, especially with her aura fading.’

Grey lifted his head, staring up at the sky as his thoughts spiraled.

‘This isn’t about playing the hero or doing the righteous thing. It’s just… this situation irritates me. What if this had been Jesse? What would I have done then?’

A long, weary sigh escaped his lips.

“Now I understand how Dame feels,” he muttered quietly.

Frowny raised an eyebrow, impatience flickering across his face.

“What’s your response?”

Grey shrugged casually.

“What if I refuse to leave?”

The robed man pierced him with a sharp glare.

“This isn’t a request. It’s an order from a captain of the Midnight Sun Clan to a field agent.”

Grey tilted his head slightly, a faint frown forming beneath the mask.

“You might be a captain, but you are not my captain. And the Supreme Magus answers to no one.”

The robed man froze instantly, his eyes widening in disbelief.

‘The Supreme Magus? Is he really… him?’

Frowny released a tired sigh, uncrossing his arms before stepping forward deliberately.

“I suppose speeches are pointless then. I’ll just make you feel pain.”

Grey shifted his stance as a small smile curved across his lips.

“Funny. That happens to be my line.”

Seeing Frowny advance, the robed man snapped out of his thoughts and took a step back.

‘There’s no need for both of us to intervene. I’ll stay put and observe what happens next.’

BANG!

Frowny erupted from his position, launching forward like a blur.

Using the full speed of a stage six warrior, he closed the distance between them in an instant.
