Capítulo 715: Twenty Seconds

CHAPTER 715

“She…she’s Dame’s sister!”

***

Rushing out from the cave on the mountain top, the remaining men inside filtered out after hearing Ash’s shout and the commotion caused by the dozen warriors already stationed outside.

In total, fifty-two men stood their ground, each gripping different kinds of weapons in their hands, blades, spears, axes, and staffs gleaming under the light.

Even so, two noticeably powerful figures still remained within the shadows of the cave, clearly confident enough not to rush out with the others.

Grey tilted his head slightly, examining Anna’s egg-shaped face with sharp focus, his brows knitting together as he stared at her repeatedly, as though confirming the truth with his own eyes.

“Ash…” he called softly, his tone calm and gentle, smooth like a passing breeze.

“Are you certain about this?”

Ash nodded without hesitation.

“Affirmative. Alba and some others haven’t seen her before, but as an alchemist, I move around the faction frequently. I’ve seen her on several occasions, and one of those times was with Dame himself.

When I teased him about secretly getting a lover, he shut me down immediately and told me she was his younger sister.”

Grey’s fingers slowly curled into fists, knuckles tightening without him even noticing.

“Is that so,” he muttered quietly.

A thin smile crept across his lips as he raised his head.

“Hey! You there! Who are you?” one of the men barked.

“How do you know who she is? Were you sent b—”

The sentence never finished.

A silent, invisible wind projectile tore through the air, striking the man’s skull without warning.

The impact was clean, brutal, and instant.

His body collapsed heavily to the ground, blood spurting from his forehead where the compressed wind had pierced through.

The remaining men froze, shock flashing across their faces as they stared at their fallen comrade, confusion rippling through the group as they searched for the source of the attack.

“That means they belong to the Umbrafell faction, correct?” Grey asked calmly, his voice echoing softly across the mountain top.

Ash nodded in confirmation.

A weary sigh escaped the mage as he rubbed his face, shaking his head slowly.

“Funny how the universe works,” he said quietly.

“Just thirty minutes ago, Dame was kneeling in front of me, begging for help, and I refused him outright. Now look at me, standing in front of his sister, forced into a situation where I can no longer walk away.”

His gaze shifted from Anna and lifted upward as shimmering blue runes materialised before his eyes.

Grey released another slow breath, rolling his shoulders slightly.

‘I barely had time to recover after battling Kira,’ he thought grimly. ‘My reserves are low, but I still have ki backing me up. This could get messy if it drags on.’

“Hey, kid!” another man shouted aggressively.

“Were you sent by Borfan?”

Grey didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, he extended his hand, and a shimmering light gathered around his fingers before dimming, revealing a solid mask resting in his palm.

Gripping it firmly, he placed it over his face, the surface moulding perfectly to his features.

“How rude,” he said coolly, his masked voice carrying authority.

“To assume the Supreme Magus was dispatched by someone else.”

The men exchanged uneasy glances, murmurs spreading among them.

“Supreme Magus?” one scoffed. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

Grey lifted a brow behind the mask, momentarily puzzled.

‘Has my name truly not reached the Umbrafell faction yet?’ he wondered.

After a brief pause, he shrugged inwardly.

‘No matter. By the end of today, they’ll remember it.’

Meanwhile, Anna, still barely conscious, reacted at the sound of the title.

Her blurred vision sharpened slightly, her weak eyes widening as recognition stirred within her fading awareness, even as pain threatened to pull her back into darkness.

‘S…Supreme Magus? Wait! Did he just say that Dame approached him a while ago? What can a stage 4 warrior actually do? And I…isn’t he just an alchemist?’

“Ash…” Grey called out as the wind began coiling around his hands, spiraling like unseen serpents eager to strike. “Count one to twenty for me.”

Ash raised an eyebrow, confusion flashing across his features.

“Huh?”

Before he could utter another word, the men roared in rage and surged forward, veins bulging as killing intent flooded the air.

The strangers were clearly ignoring them on purpose, and that insult burned deeper than steel.

“No worries! We would take care of you specially!”

Swords, spears, and ki-infused fists tore through the air toward Grey, whistling with murderous force.

He stood still for a brief moment, eyes cold as he stared at them, unmoving.

“Countdown now.”

And then he vanished.

Their weapons struck only empty air, colliding with one another as a small explosion echoed across the mountainside.

Ash stumbled back two steps, swallowed hard, then forced himself to speak.

“Twenty.”

BANG!

A thunderous sound erupted behind the charging men.

They spun around just in time for twenty of them to be impaled mid-motion by razor-sharp wind swords.

The translucent blades sliced through throats, pierced ki coatings, and tore flesh apart without resistance.

Bodies crashed onto the rocky ground with heavy, lifeless thuds, blood spraying across the dirt.

“Nineteen.”

Before panic could fully register, Grey reappeared inside their formation.

Lightning crackled violently around his boots, sparks snapping with savage intensity.

A pair of lightning-forged swords materialized in his hands, humming with lethal power.

In the next instant, he blurred forward.

Ash continued counting, his voice shaking as he watched the slaughter unfold.

Grey moved like a phantom, blades flashing, bodies falling before screams could escape.

The men were helpless, ranks collapsing within seconds.

“Screw whatever trump cards you all have,”

He snarled as he drove his foot straight into a man’s face.

Using the collapsing body as leverage, he flipped backward, smashing his toes into another man’s skull mid-rotation.

A compressed wind spear erupted from his foot at the final second, piercing straight through the man’s head and pinning him to the ground.

“Fourteen…”

Several fighters rushed him as he landed in a low crouch, mistaking his posture for weakness.

“After what you all did to her, my blood boils.”

He swept his arm outward.

Crescent-shaped wind blades tore through the air, slamming into their kneecaps.

Bones shattered. Limbs burst apart. Screams filled the mountain.

“Ten…”

Others attempted a sneak attack from behind.

Portals snapped open behind them without warning.

From within, lightning spears shot out, skewering their bodies, electricity coursing through flesh and armor alike.

They dropped instantly, smoke rising from charred corpses.

“Eight…”

Only the men surrounding Anna remained.

Five of them.

They tried retreating, terror etched across their faces, but Grey flicked his wrist.

The ground beneath them liquefied into thick mud, swallowing them waist-deep as they screamed and struggled.

Grey clenched his fist.

The mud hardened instantly.

Their bodies split apart with a brutal crack, blood spraying outward as silence followed. Ash stared, mouth hanging open, completely stunned.

“Five…”

In less than fifteen seconds, Grey finished off fifty-two men.

He straightened slowly, standing tall amidst the carnage, his expression calm, unreadable, utterly devoid of emotion.
