Capítulo 713: Lucky Day?

CHAPTER 713

Exiting the room, the duo found themselves outside the warehouse-like structure.

Luckily or unluckily, the building had been constructed quite far away from town, isolated from most foot traffic and daily noise.

“We would have to walk a bit to get to town and hire a carria…”

“No need.” Grey interrupted calmly as he suddenly grabbed Ash by the waist.

The man’s pale eyes widened instantly in alarm as he stared at the mage in disbelief.

“I… I don’t swi…”

“Neither do I, just hold on.” Grey scolded as violent currents surged around the pair and, like a launched projectile, they blasted upward, hovering several metres above the soil for a brief second.

“Kaiser.” The mage softly called out, his voice steady and composed.

At once, the surrounding air twisted violently, roaring and shrieking like a feral entity awakening beneath them.

A heartbeat later, a massive wind bird formed from pure mana burst into existence.

The creature was enormous enough to carry over a dozen people across its broad back with ease.

Its wings stretched wide, glowing faintly with an ethereal radiance, giving it the appearance of a mythical beast despite being a conjuration.

Landing smoothly atop its back, Grey smiled faintly.

“It’s been a while, huh.”

With that casual remark, the wind bird shot forward.

Its velocity was terrifying, slicing through the sky so quickly that Ash’s already pale complexion turned almost ghostly as nausea churned violently in his stomach.

“Kindly don’t throw…”

Blech!

The man failed to restrain himself, twisting sideways as the contents of his earlier meal emptied into the rushing air.

“…up.”

Grey merely sighed in resignation and allowed the wind bird to continue onward without slowing.

Guided by Ash’s directions and aided by the wind bird’s incredible pace, what would have taken forty-five minutes by carriage was completed in no more than ten.

Their destination turned out to be a forest nestled away from the main roads.

The woodland itself was not particularly vast, spanning roughly two and a half kilometres at most.

Medium-sized trees enclosed the area densely, their branches interlocking overhead.

Occasional chirps echoed faintly through the air, though no beasts were immediately visible.

In the distance, a small mountain loomed quietly, positioned several metres away from the forest’s edge.

“We’ll still head there,” Ash said as the wind bird descended gently into the forest.

“The final herb I need grows at the mountain’s base.”

With a loud whoosh, the conjured creature dissipated into nothingness.

Ash immediately began moving between trunks and shrubs, examining leaves and stems with focused precision as he gathered ingredients.

Grey remained stationary, recalling the components he had previously observed while analyzing the potion.

Initially, three brews had been rewarded to him that day.

After his battle with Thalos, where both hands had been destroyed, the gargoyle had administered one, restoring his limbs completely.

The second had been consumed after the clash with the demon, leaving only a single vial remaining.

That final potion was the one he had thoroughly examined using a magic circle alongside his appraisal skill to confirm its contents.

Although the mage lacked knowledge of the herbs’ appearances, he trusted the alchemist nearby to identify them accurately.

As Ash located his materials one after another, Grey requested directions for his own components.

Ash responded casually, pointing him toward each location.

Grey followed, harvesting carefully and storing everything within his pendant.

‘I might be nearing the storage limit of this thing,’ he thought briefly.

‘Fortunately, my spatial skill allows infinite containment. Living beings, creatures, objects, all can be sealed within. Though living entities have a time restriction unless they attempt to breach the space.’

Shrugging lightly, he continued his task.

Five minutes later, their work in the forest concluded, prompting them to head toward the mountain ahead.

***

After several minutes of cautious walking, they arrived at the mountain’s base.

It stood roughly eight metres tall and stretched about ten metres wide, its summit flat and bare, overlooking the quiet forest below.

At the base of the mountain, several bushes were visible, each hosting the exact plants Ash had been searching for.

However, there were no beasts anywhere in sight.

“Huh? That’s strange.” Ash frowned slightly while scanning the surroundings.

“They’re usually loitering around this area, trying to prevent anyone from getting closer. Where did they all disappear to?”

Grey merely rolled his shoulders faintly, unconcerned.

“I guess today decided to smile on you. Pluck away.”

Ash nodded without hesitation and immediately began harvesting the herbs, moving swiftly with the practiced efficiency of a stage five warrior.

His motions were sharp, controlled, and precise.

Meanwhile, Grey lazily tilted his head upward, gazing toward the sky, his pupils glimmering faintly with wandering thoughts.

‘I wonder what Dame plans on doing right now. I really hope he doesn’t act too impulsively and end up trapped somewhere with no escape.’

The mage sighed quietly.

‘He keeps talking about how powerful his older brothers are. I’m curious what warrior stages they’ve reached and how I’d fare against the…’

“I’m done.” Ash’s voice cut through Grey’s thoughts, pulling him back to the present.

Grey exhaled softly, snapping out of his internal musing.

“So, shall we return…”

He was just about to summon his wind bird when his ears twitched subtly at an unfamiliar sound.

Ash reacted at the same moment.

Both men snapped their gazes upward toward the mountain as the noise echoed again.

A scream.

A feminine cry filled with fear, followed closely by several coarse male laughs that sent a chill through the air.

“Huh?” Grey muttered, brows knitting tightly.

“What’s going on up there?”

Ash stiffened slightly, his eyes darting away from the mountain as unease crept into his expression.

“Let’s not involve ourselves in matters unrelated to us,” he said cautiously.

Grey shot him a sharp glare.

“It’s obvious they’re doing something to that girl.” His jaw tightened. “If that were your sister, would you just turn your back and walk away?”

Images of Millie, Vanessa, and Jesse flashed vividly through his mind, causing his teeth to grind with restrained anger.

“You’re free to leave,” Grey added coldly. “But I’m checking this out.”

Before Ash could respond, the wind surged violently around Grey’s body, lifting him high into the air.

In the next instant, he shot toward the mountain’s summit like a bolt of unleashed force, intent on discovering the source behind the screams echoing through the sky.
