Magus Supremacy - Chapter 712
Capítulo 712: Let’s Go Shopping!
CHAPTER 712
“I’m sorry, but I can’t help you.”
That single sentence struck Dame’s soul like a brutal blow, his thoughts spinning wildly as his mind refused to accept what his ears had just registered.
“W… what?”
Grey paused briefly, steadying his breathing before speaking again, his tone firm yet restrained.
“I said, I’m sorry, but I can’t help you.”
Dame staggered a step backward, pulling away from the hands that had been resting on his shoulders as disbelief flooded his expression.
His voice fractured, trembling violently like a creature gasping on dry land.
“But… but why?”
Grey shut his eyes for a fleeting moment, then opened them again with a measured exhale.
“Honestly, I want to help you. Believe me, I truly do. But…”
“But what?!” Dame interrupted sharply, anger bursting through his words as his eyes burned fiercely, teeth grinding with barely restrained fury.
Grey responded with a calm sigh, refusing to rise to the provocation.
“I don’t act without preparation, and I never move without certainty. I may possess strength, but I am not untouchable. I calculate risks, weigh consequences, and assess outcomes before making a decision. I only charge forward when I am completely certain of victory.”
Dame stared at him, grief and rage twisting his features into something almost unrecognizable.
“Don’t misunderstand me,” Grey added quickly, sensing the brewing storm.
“I’m not rejecting you entirely. I will assist you, just not at this moment. We need more information about the enemy. I can’t recklessly invade a camp and start cutting down opponents blindly.”
Dame lifted an eyebrow, disbelief etched deeply across his face.
“You can’t? That’s something we both know you are more than capable of doing!”
Grey shook his head slowly.
“Not now. For that camp to deliberately provoke your father, knowing how terrifying his strength is, means they possess something significant.
Either an individual or a hidden advantage strong enough to restrain him, at least temporarily. That realization likely influenced his refusal to act.”
Dame clenched his fists tightly, knuckles whitening as the sound of grinding teeth echoed faintly within the room.
“Bullshit… bullshit… don’t fucking lie to me here, Supreme Magus!” Dame roared, rage surging as Ki surged violently through his body.
His aura expanded, becoming unstable and oppressive.
Grey’s frown deepened as he observed the outburst.
‘He’s dangerously close to the next stage. One final push and he’ll advance to Stage Five, unlocking the third level of Ki. Hpmh. Truly impressive,’ Grey assessed silently.
“After everything I’ve done for you!” Dame shouted, his voice cracking under emotional strain.
“Yes, I benefited too, I won’t deny that, but I still helped you. I’m still helping you. And you refuse to save the only family member I genuinely care about? How heartless can you be?!”
Grey offered no immediate response, watching quietly as Dame vented his fury, the room trembling slightly under the unstable energy.
“Fine then!” Dame snarled, his expression darkening. “If nobody is willing to help, then I’ll handle it myself.”
He stormed toward the door, footsteps heavy with resolve. Stopping at the threshold, he turned slowly, casting a venomous glare back at Grey.
“And if we die, remember this. Our blood will stain your hands, because you chose to stand aside.”
With those final words, Dame exited forcefully, leaving the door partially open as Grey remained rooted in place, eyes blinking at the empty doorway.
“…”
Silence settled thickly within the room, stretching for several seconds before faint crackles of lightning began dancing through the air.
“Damn you, Dame!” Grey roared, fury finally breaking through as he hurled his arm toward the wall, power surging violently from his strike.
A crackling sphere of lightning burst forth, slamming violently into the wall and blasting a deep crater straight through the solid structure.
Grey sucked in several heavy breaths afterward, his aura gradually receding as his teeth continued grinding in agitation.
“You think if I could help, I wouldn’t?!” he roared at the ruined wall, eyes blazing.
“If I rush there without caution and they reveal that trump card against me, and I end up losing my life, then what happens next?! How do I take revenge on those filthy Otherworlders for everything they stole from me?!
How do I save my companions from the Principal of the Aetherian Academy? How do I protect my squad and friends back in my original world?
Don’t I have a life of my own? Do I fucking look like some savior meant to rescue everyone?! I grow stronger every single day for one reason only, to protect those I personally deem worthy of that protection. I guard the people I care about!”
His voice thundered through the room as violent winds spiraled wildly around him, pressure surging outward while his jaw continued clenching relentlessly.
“Then he storms in here yelling at me like I’m some kind of heroic icon destined to save the entire world.
What? Because I wear a robe? Does it resemble a cape? Tch! Idiotic humans!”
He inhaled deeply several times after finishing his outburst, the raging winds gradually calming as the room settled back into silence.
Grey exhaled long and slow, shoulders finally relaxing.
“What do you want?”
Step. Step. Another step.
Footsteps echoed as someone entered the room.
It was Ash, who had apparently been standing there for a while, silently watching Grey’s outburst through the still open doorway.
“I noticed you were available, so I came to ask for your assistance,” Ash said calmly.
Grey slowly turned his head toward the man, brows twitching with lingering irritation.
‘What is it with people requesting my help today?’ he thought.
“You want to rescue someone too?” Grey asked flatly.
Ash shook his head.
“No. I want you to accompany me.”
Grey raised a brow.
“Accompany you? Where exactly?”
Ash drew in a deep breath before responding.
“I intend to gather some herbs for a potion I am currently developing. The location I’m heading to is inhabited by several stray beasts, and they are extremely protective of those materials.
Normally, Killian would escort me, but he’s away on a mission right now. That’s why I decided to approach you.”
Grey released a quiet sigh, his head pulsing faintly.
‘With everything happening, I nearly forgot. I also planned to brew a potion after analyzing the one I obtained for defeating Thalos back then. I already examined the ingredients used in its creation. So I suppose…’
He rolled his shoulders slightly before giving a casual shrug.
“Fine then. Let’s go shopping, I guess.”
