Magus Supremacy - Chapter 710
Capítulo 710: Sister Trouble (1)
CHAPTER 710
Back at the Noxarian faction, inside Ash’s warehouse-like base, within one of the secluded rooms, an ashen portal yawned open with a faint hum.
Out of it stepped Grey, a wide grin plastered across his face, one that stubbornly refused to fade despite everything that had occurred.
The gateway snapped shut behind him with a sharp electrical crackle.
“Why does it feel like my head is swelling…”
He muttered while clutching his hair, the smile faltering briefly before returning even wider than before.
“…Swelling with immense pride! Buhahahahahaha!”
He grabbed his abdomen and collapsed onto the bed, laughter spilling out uncontrollably like that of a lunatic who had just discovered a forbidden truth.
“Man, is this what power feels like? I honestly felt like dragging Kira and Thalos along, marching into one of the factions, then wiping the entire place off the map.”
His chuckles slowly settled as he stared at the ceiling, fingers drumming against his stomach.
“Even after that long clash with Kira, I don’t feel particularly drained. Strangely enough, my body feels light. But unfortunately, I can’t act on impulse.”
He clicked his tongue sharply before continuing;
“I don’t know how strong the leaders truly are. From what I’ve heard, the principal of the Aetherian Academy is teetering on the edge of godhood.
I have no clue about Dame’s father, and I certainly know nothing about the heads of the remaining clans or factions, so acting recklessly would be suicide.”
A weary sigh slipped from his lips as irritation crept onto his expression.
“And returning to the academy is out of the question. Orion needs to believe I’m dead. That shock factor is necessary when I crash the tournament unannounced.”
His fingers curled into tight fists, knuckles paling as his teeth ground together with restrained hostility.
Then, just as suddenly, the tension drained from him.
He fell backward onto the bed again, eyes locked onto the ceiling as a relaxed smile resurfaced.
‘I’ve got the Crimson Lotus Clan, the vice principal of the Aetherian Academy who doubles as the vice leader of the Aetherborn Clan, direct descendants of three powerful bloodlines, Instructor Gunther, Sera, Thalos, Kira, Noir, and myself—A stage four Yun Warrior and a six star mage wielding five affinities.’
His brows twitched.
Grey abruptly sat upright, a deep frown carving into his features.
“Meanwhile, the enemy side has a man flirting with godhood, at least two major clan leaders likely hovering around stage eight, vice leaders probably touching stage seven, terrifying alliances, elite instructors, an entire faction backing them.”
He exhaled sharply.
“Hpmh. This is more troublesome than I expected, especially since Orion is an Upper Zodiac among the Otherworlders.”
Grey tangled his fingers in his hair, growling softly as frustration bubbled up.
“Man! This is seriously annoying.”
‘I don’t even know if everything on my side is enough. It feels like I still can’t afford complacency. I need to grow stronger, but how? I’m nowhere near the next mage star, and the next warrior stage feels just as distant. What else is left for me…’
His thoughts abruptly halted.
A subtle glint flickered within his eyes, silent yet dangerous, as an idea slowly began to take shape.
“I know,” he snapped his fingers sharply. “I should just learn the second stage of Ki. Whether it turns out useful or not, it would still be wise to add it to my arsenal. There’s absolutely no harm in accumulating more strength.”
He shrugged with a weary sigh, shoulders drooping slightly.
He was just about to collapse back onto the bed when an image suddenly flashed through his thoughts.
His heart slammed violently against his ribcage as he jolted upright like a spring-loaded trap.
He rose to his feet instantly, eyes blown wide.
“H… how could I forget about her?” he muttered, lips trembling, fingers shaking faintly as fragments of his past resurfaced, memories of his original world crashing through his mind.
A little girl appeared in his thoughts, no older than seven or eight.
A child his biological mother had rescued from a rampaging beast during a portal break in his hometown, sacrificing her own life in the process.
That very incident had driven him into anger, made him annoyed at his mother, and despised the girl for a time, until his mum forced him to accept the truth and welcome her as his little sister.
“Jesse… how? How could I forget about her?” he whispered, a tear slipping down his cheek.
“I… I didn’t see her that day.
The day that blasted Zodiac murdered mum, she wasn’t in the house. Where was she? Did something happen to her too? Damn it! Is she even safe?”
His pulse thundered in his ears with every thought as his hands gripped his hair tightly, mind spiraling rapidly.
“It’s been a year now. Is she even still al… no!” He shook his head fiercely, banishing the thought outright.
“She has to be alive… right? I didn’t see her body, which means she survived. That has to mean something. But if that’s true, then where exactly is she now?”
He began pacing around the room restlessly, boots tapping against the floor as each step worsened the pounding inside his skull.
A faint headache crept in, but he forcefully ignored it.
His mouth opened, about to speak, when a violent knock slammed against the door, making him shut his lips instantly as his gaze snapped toward the entrance.
The pounding came again, then a third time, louder than before, causing his brow to lift slightly.
“Dame?” he muttered quietly.
Extending his hand from where he stood, wind surged violently through the room, blasting the door open to reveal the stage four warrior.
Something was wrong.
Dame looked frantic.
Sweat drenched his face, chest heaving heavily as he rushed forward before dropping to his knees in front of Grey, pressing his forehead against the floor.
“Huh? What’s going on?” Grey asked, caught completely off guard by the sudden display.
“Please…” Dame begged, tears streaming freely down his cheeks.
“I need your help. Supreme Magus, my sister has been taken hostage. Please, help me!”
