Magus Supremacy - Chapter 706
Capítulo 706: Blink for Blink
CHAPTER 706
Directly above her, a hundred fireballs suddenly materialised in the air, suspended briefly before preparing to hurl downward and crash into her position.
Kira’s eyes widened in horror as she took in the sheer number of fireballs radiating intense heat toward her location.
She did not panic for long, because in the very next instant, she was gone, vanishing completely from view.
Grey remained standing on the ground, staring calmly at the sky. One hand rested inside his pocket, while the other scratched his hair casually as his gaze stayed fixed upward.
“Well, that blinking ability of yours is a menace.”
At that moment, the phoenix was blinking rapidly all across the battlefield, moving through multiple positions as she tried her hardest to confuse Grey, who stood unmoving while surveying his surroundings.
After several seconds of rapid movement around the area, the creature suddenly materialised directly behind him.
Her beak opened wide, already charged and ready to release a beam of lightning, which she immediately fired.
The heat from the attack prickled against Grey’s skin, yet a smirk formed on his face instead of panic.
In a swift blur of motion, the Supreme Magus tilted his head slightly aside, allowing the lightning beam to rush past his face at full velocity.
It slammed into the ground two metres away, carving a deep, scorched groove into the earth.
Spinning around instantly, Grey faced the phoenix directly as she glared at him fiercely.
With her talons gone, attacking with her wings was all she had left, and that was exactly what she did.
She swung one wing forward horizontally at impressive speed, aiming to split the mage’s head cleanly apart.
Grey leapt backward, narrowly avoiding the first strike. In the next second, a thunderous bang tore through the air as the creature darted forward again.
“Before I destroy your ability to blink,”
The mage ducked low, evading another sweeping strike from the phoenix’s wing.
Without missing a beat, she spun again and unleashed twenty lightning beams toward Grey.
They sliced through the air like streaks of light, yet the mage remained unfazed.
With his free hand still tucked safely into his pocket, he dashed across the battlefield, weaving between the attacks like a living blur.
The beams failed to touch his robe, let alone his body. His speed was heavily amplified by Ki, lightning, and wind elements flowing across every part of him.
He passed through every strike effortlessly, leaving the beams to plunge into the terrain behind him, cracking the ground apart with each impact.
In a flash, Grey crossed the distance and appeared right in front of Kira.
“Let’s go blink for blink.”
He grinned before thrusting his palms forward, unleashing a powerful lightning beam that burst forth at tremendous speed.
As expected, the creature vanished instantly, allowing the attack to collide with the earth instead.
The beam carved a deep crater that stretched several metres forward as smoke filled the air briefly.
Then the phoenix appeared directly behind Grey.
Her wings lunged forward, aiming to impale him from the back, but they pierced nothing except empty air.
The Supreme Magus had already blinked away.
In the next moment, he floated several metres above the ground.
Directly beneath him hovered the same hundred fireballs, which had surprisingly not dissipated after the phoenix avoided them earlier.
Looking upward, the phoenix froze in shock for a brief moment.
That hesitation was all it took.
With a snap of Grey’s fingers, the fireballs came crashing down like meteors falling from the heavens.
Within the blink of an eye, they slammed into the ground all around the phoenix, who chose not to blink away and instead relied on her overwhelming speed, darting rapidly from one spot to another as explosions erupted across the battlefield.
The fireballs slammed into the ground beneath her with loud, deep tremors, scorching the earth while carving massive crevices that stretched several metres across the terrain.
Kira continued weaving effortlessly through the descending flames, refusing to let even a single projectile graze her form.
The very moment the final fireball struck the surface, Grey vanished from sight.
He reappeared directly before the phoenix, a wind sword already formed in his grasp, which he thrust forward at terrifying speed without hesitation.
Kira’s eyes widened in pure horror.
She could not blink away in time and had no option other than dragging her wings forward defensively to shield herself from the incoming wind blade.
Strangely, the expected impact never came.
That split second of confusion caused the creature to spread her wings again, only to find that Grey was no longer standing before her.
Her eyes flared with panic as she attempted to spin around, but it was too late.
The mage appeared behind her and drove the wind sword straight through her back.
Blood seeped outward instantly as lightning erupted violently around her body, crackling with ferocity.
The electrical surge lit up the air and shredded the wind sword embedded in her back before it could penetrate any deeper.
From the wound in her spine, a blinding beam of lightning exploded outward with tremendous force, aiming to obliterate the mage at point blank range.
Unfortunately for her, Grey blinked away effortlessly, allowing the beam to smash into a distant mountain, further destroying its already fractured structure.
“Over here!”
Grey’s voice echoed from above, forcing the phoenix to lift her head. Her pupils shrank as she spotted fifty lightning swords hovering overhead, each one gleaming with lethal intent.
Snap!
They were hurled downward at neck breaking speed.
As expected, Kira blinked away, letting the lightning blades crash into the earth below.
The collision produced a deafening explosion, and the impact caused the land to tremble violently for metres in every direction, as if an earthquake had been unleashed.
The entire ground where the swords landed, stretching nearly twenty metres outward, shattered violently and split apart, torn asunder like flesh under unbearable strain.
Thick smoke and dust clouds surged upward, spreading like a suffocating blanket that obscured everything from view.
“Hpmh. She’s faster than before,” Grey remarked silently, his eyes glinting faintly with interest rather than concern.
Suddenly, he whirled like a raging storm, his arms snapping outward as a pair of lightning swords materialised firmly within his grip.
The blades collided with the phoenix’s wings midair, generating a violent shockwave that blasted outward, dispersing the dense dust clouds instantly and restoring visibility across the battlefield.
From that moment onward, everything became a blur.
Both combatants took to the air, dashing and striking at one another relentlessly.
They blinked, teleported, and reappeared with frightening speed, exchanging attacks without pause.
Each collision sent thunderous bangs echoing through the sky, while the ground beneath their airborne bodies shuddered violently with every clash.
Grey gritted his teeth as sparks of lightning burst between them, magical blades grinding against powerful wings.
His hands trembled with every impact, muscles straining under the repeated force, his eyes flashing sharply with excitement.
Yet one thing never faded.
His grin.
They continued exchanging blows at astonishing speed, neither yielding an inch. After several more intense minutes of relentless combat, Grey’s grin widened further, stretching into something almost unhinged.
He was finally ready to push things further.
Ready to raise the stakes.
Ready to show exactly who was in control.
