Capítulo 702: Who Decided That?

CHAPTER 702

BANG!

A massive sphere of lightning burst from the Phoenix’s beak, stretching outward like a condensed beam of energy toward the Supreme Magus, who hovered calmly in midair with assistance from the wind element.

The instant Grey perceived the attack, a smirk curved across his lips.

His eyes glistened faintly, and in the next moment, lightning erupted around his body as his movement speed abruptly doubled.

Tilting his head slightly aside, the blazing beam rushed past his face at terrifying velocity, nicking a few strands of hair that floated loosely through the air.

The lightning mass streaked beyond him and detonated midair with a clamorous explosion, yet the confident expression on Grey’s face never faded.

Panic surged through Kira’s thoughts.

‘H… how? How did his movement increase so suddenly? Wait! He wasn’t evading with lightning all this time? That was his natural speed enhanced by the wind element?’

Grey beamed brightly.

“You think I came here blindly to challenge you without knowing exactly what I’m doing?”

Kira’s expression darkened instantly.

“Shut up!”

She vanished from sight before the mage could even begin forming a counter, leaving Grey hovering alone in the sky.

“Won’t you stop darting around and come out already?” Grey asked casually, a wide grin still plastered across his face.

Throughout everything, his hands remained tucked inside his pockets, his relaxed posture completely unfazed by the situation.

‘Just show yourself once. Let me demonstrate what I’m truly capable of.’

“You want me out? Fine, here I am, you irritating human!” Kira shouted inside his mind.

In the very next second, she appeared directly before him, eyes blazing fiercely as her wings beat powerfully, poised to unleash devastation.

Grey simply smiled.

“Oh dear Kira, you truly have no idea who you are provoking.”

The moment his words ended, Kira’s eyes widened as she sensed the surrounding pressure shift violently.

She vanished instantly and reappeared several metres away, yet the oppressive force refused to subside.

Raising her head, realisation struck.

She was trapped.

Surrounded completely.

Scores upon scores of lightning spears, earthen lances, wind blades, and flaming arrows hovered ominously around her position.

If counted correctly, the number of prepared attacks exceeded a thousand, enclosing an area spanning roughly five metres in every direction.

“I’m not someone to be taken lightly.”

Snap!

The projectiles screamed downward faster than Kira could escape through teleportation.

The only action available was to cross her wings tightly around her body just in time as the attacks slammed into her defences with the combined force of two bullet trains colliding.

A deafening explosion erupted with overwhelming intensity, enough to rupture the ears of anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby.

Nearby beasts scattered frantically, fleeing the area in absolute terror.

As the barrage struck, not only did the air surrounding the phoenix rupture violently, the ground beneath shattered as well, forming a massive cavity as if it had existed for centuries.

Despite the aerial battlefield, the land below absorbed the brunt of the devastation, splitting open under the relentless impact.

And that was not all.

Kira had believed her wings were durable enough to endure the assault.

She was mistaken.

The crushing, mountainous force bearing down upon her overwhelmed her body entirely, sending her rocketing toward the ground at tremendous speed, unable to stabilise herself before impact.

She resembled a blazing comet of lightning, streaking violently toward the ground with unstoppable momentum.

And then.

BOOOM!

She plunged straight into the earth, driving herself even deeper and further widening the hollow beneath while a violent cloud of dust and shattered debris erupted outward, filling the air within an instant.

Grey smirked faintly as he descended slowly, gliding downward before landing softly with the delicate grace of a butterfly touching water.

‘Funny enough, my mana isn’t even dented. Kek!’

With a casual wave of his hand, a powerful current of wind blasted outward, dispersing the dust that surrounded Kira.

Shockingly, the phoenix was nowhere to be found.

Grey’s eye glowed sharply.

“Behind me.”

He muttered under his breath as he spun around quickly, yet his reaction was a fraction too late.

The phoenix slammed its talons into his chest with terrifying force, causing saliva to burst violently from his mouth.

In an instant, his body was hurled far into the distance.

He tumbled uncontrollably, crashing across rough terrain at immense velocity until his back slammed into a protruding rock, abruptly halting his flight.

That alone was not enough.

The phoenix appeared directly before him and, without wasting a moment, opened her beak wide, unleashing a relentless torrent of lightning strikes toward the battered mage.

Regaining composure rapidly, Grey raised his hands upward as an earthen wall surged from the ground, intercepting the incoming assault.

It barely lasted a second before the entire structure shattered like splintered glass.

The remaining lightning slammed into the protruding rock behind him, blowing it apart into countless jagged shards.

“Over here!”

Kira spun around sharply, only to witness an enormous club formed of compressed earth gripped firmly in Grey’s hand.

Without hesitation, he swung it downward, hammering it into the creature’s face with thunderous impact.

The phoenix was launched backward, lifted off her footing and sent flying through the air like a broken bird with clipped wings.

Leaning forward aggressively, lightning flared around Grey’s feet, and like a fired arrow, he exploded forward.

His speed was so extreme it resembled teleportation as he appeared directly behind the creature.

His hands blazed bright orange, flames coiling around his palms as he prepared to unleash them, but before he could strike, the phoenix vanished from sight.

“You’re strong and versatile, I must give you that.”

Kira’s voice echoed from all directions as she blinked rapidly around the mage, appearing and disappearing without pause.

Grey remained completely still, eyes shut, breathing calm and controlled as lightning fizzled subtly around his arms, coiled and ready to strike at the final moment.

“You are fast, I will acknowledge that. But throughout this battle, you have failed to show how you can truly overpower me.

In fact, I have proven myself quicker than anything you can hope to match. It saddens me that your arrogance will lead to your death.

But such an outcome is inevitable. I am simply too swift for you to follow!”

The phoenix flashed into existence directly above Grey, wings spread wide and ready to unleash devastation.

When the mage snapped his head upward, she smirked mockingly and vanished again faster than his reflexes could respond.

In the very next second, she materialised right before him while his gaze remained tilted skyward.

Her beak opened wide, lightning gathering rapidly as she prepared to fire a massive sphere of energy toward the distracted mage.

“You’re faster than me? Who decided that?”

Kira suddenly heard Grey say calmly.

In the blink of an eye, the mage dropped his gaze downward.

Lightning flared violently around his hands, and in a blur of motion, his fingers clamped tightly around the phoenix’s beak, halting her movement completely and stopping the attack dead in its tracks.
