Magus Supremacy - Chapter 701
Capítulo 701: Let’s Duel
CHAPTER 701
“Let’s duel.”
BANG!
A huge beam of lightning shot forth from Grey’s hands at blazing speed, racing toward the phoenix, who was momentarily stunned by how rapid the assault truly was.
But regardless, Kira vanished from view.
Teleporting away at the perfect instant, she escaped as the beam smashed into the ground with overwhelming force, burning a searing hole through solid earth.
“Good, that was quite unexpectedly fast.”
The voice whispered inside Grey’s mind as a faint white glow began forming behind his back.
In a flash, Kira appeared at blinding velocity, her beak stretched wide as she unleashed a lightning bolt at point blank range toward the mage.
Rumble!
The land trembled violently, and soon enough, a towering wall of soil surged upward between Kira and Grey, intercepting the incoming strike.
Unfortunately, the lightning attack was absurdly powerful, therefore it ripped through the earthen barrier like a scorching ray, pulverising everything before collapsing into rubble.
Shockingly, the Supreme Magus was nowhere in sight, having blinked away and allowed the bolt to slam into the terrain, carving a deep chasm across the battlefield.
“You have become faster. And you are using abilities you didn’t use earlier.”
“And that’s not all.”
Flames erupted instantly, and without hesitation, a massive pillar of fire bellowed downward like a raging tempest.
Kira smirked confidently as a pale radiance wrapped around her figure.
Before the inferno could connect, she vanished once more, causing the flames to collide with the ground and scatter blazing embers in every direction.
“You never learn huh? I’m faster than you think, you can’t touch me!”
Grey gave no response as his gaze remained fixed on empty space.
His grin did not waver as the phoenix materialised directly behind him, moving faster than ever before, appearing like a fleeting blur.
Before the Supreme Magus could react properly, fifty lightning beams burst from Kira’s wings and streaked forward at breakneck velocity.
The rising earth wall was far too slow to emerge, and even if it had formed, the structure would never have blocked every strike.
Grey chose a different approach, acting decisively within that split second.
Fight fire with fire, or rather, counter lightning with lightning.
With a snap of his fingers, a hundred electric beams erupted outward and collided head on with Kira’s barrage.
Within a heartbeat, both forces cancelled each other in a catastrophic explosion that hurled Grey violently through the air.
Before impact could occur, powerful gusts wrapped around his body and stabilised his flight mid fall.
He hovered briefly, scanning his surroundings carefully, yet the phoenix had vanished once again.
A strange sensation crawled along his ears as he twisted sharply, rotating in place while attempting to pinpoint the creature’s presence.
“Why do you enjoy hiding so much? I’m not in the mood for childish games right now!”
The atmosphere screamed violently.
“And who said I’m playing games with you?”
Bang, Bang, Bang!
A thunderous sequence of detonations erupted as Grey’s eyes widened with restrained shock.
The creature materialised openly and granted the Supreme Magus no breathing room, darting forward without hesitation.
Her speed combined with flight created deafening sonic booms as she nosedived toward Grey like a living bolt of light.
In mere moments, she was right before the warrior mage.
She wasted no time preparing another assault, her beak opening once more as electricity gathered densely within.
Grey’s body twitched instinctively, muscles tensing as he prepared to defend or counterattack.
Sensing this shift, Kira altered her strategy instantly and vanished from sight again at the last possible moment, leaving only distorted air behind.
Because screaming down from the sky were over a dozen wind swords, each one sharpened by compressed air and intent, ready to impale her from every angle.
Lucky for her, she reacted in time and barely managed to escape the deadly descent.
As a result, the wind blades tore viciously into the ground she had hovered above moments earlier, carving deep holes into solid earth while kicking up a violent storm of dust.
The swirling debris rushed outward, rustling the mage’s robe and tugging at his cloak with restless force.
“You’re dulling me! Where’s your fire?!”
Kira’s roar echoed violently within Grey’s mind as she swiftly materialised behind the mage, appearing faster than his senses could properly react.
All he managed to do was spin around instinctively and then.
TCHWK!
The creature’s talons sank deep into the mage’s shoulders, piercing flesh and bone as violent streaks of lightning burst outward, crashing brutally into his body.
From there, Kira twisted her form midair, and the duo went nosediving from the sky like a comet blazing toward the earth.
Within the blink of an eye, they slammed into the ground with thunderous force, creating a massive chasm beneath them as cracked terrain split apart violently.
Saliva sprayed from Grey’s mouth as pain surged through his body.
“Coming here to challenge me, yet you are unable to keep up? How pathetic!”
Grey frowned deeply, his expression twisted with a mixture of agony and rage.
“Get off me!”
The terrain quaked beneath them as pillars of earth erupted violently, rising like twisting serpents ready to skewer the phoenix from below.
As usual, she vanished before the sluggish pillars could strike, leaving Grey alone on the ground for a brief moment, blood trickling from his injured shoulders.
He did not remain down for long.
With a sharp grunt, he shot upright swiftly, scanning his surroundings with narrowed eyes and a deep scowl etched across his face.
‘She isn’t staying in one location. She is darting everywhere, vanishing and appearing across multiple points so I can’t lock onto her presence.’
“Catch me if you can!”
Kira shouted mockingly as she appeared beside Grey, unleashing a concentrated beam from her wings directly toward him.
After firing the attack, she disappeared once more, forcing the warrior mage to summon an earthen barrier to block the incoming strike.
Before he even finished defending, the creature reappeared behind him again, releasing a dozen lightning arrows toward his exposed back at terrifying speed.
Grey twisted fiercely, calling down colossal bolts of lightning from above that screamed through the air and collided with the incoming arrows, detonating in a violent burst of wind and crackling energy.
That moment was all Kira needed.
She seized the advantage instantly, tearing through the thick cloud of dust with her eyes glowing an intense, furious white.
Her beak opened wide, pushing past the mage’s defence, and deep within her throat, a blinding light began to gather, pulsing with overwhelming power as she prepared to unleash her strongest attack at point blank range.
The beak hovered dangerously close to Grey’s face, heat radiating outward as he felt the imminent release about to erupt directly toward him.
