Magus Supremacy - Chapter 700
Chapter 700: A Rematch?
CHAPTER 700
***
IN A DIFFERENT WORLD!
This place was quite weird looking and completely different to the human eye, and the moment one laid sight on it, they would instantly know that this was not a world meant for humans.
The land here stretched wide and uneven, a harsh terrain filled with jagged rocks and cracked earth, with patches of stubborn grass breaking through the stone like survivors clinging desperately to life.
The air carried a restless breeze, never violent yet constantly present, causing the grass to ripple in steady waves across the rocky ground as if the land itself was breathing.
In the distance loomed a colossal mountain, dark and towering, its massive peak forever shrouded by thick, swirling storm clouds.
Unlike the calm skies above the surrounding land, bolts of lightning rained down relentlessly upon its slopes and ridges, each strike illuminating the mountain with a furious glow that vanished as quickly as it appeared.
The sight was both awe inspiring and deeply unnerving, a silent reminder that the land held secrets untouched and untamed by time itself.
Around the plains leading toward that mountain, the weather remained strangely ordinary, clear skies, steady winds, and dry earth, yet the constant rumble of distant thunder placed the entire region on edge.
Beasts roamed freely here, their dark silhouettes slipping between rocks and tall grass, blending into the rugged environment like living shadows that knew the land far better than any outsider ever could.
And at the center of this unfamiliar world, a swirling portal could be seen slowly opening.
The portal was ashen in colour, spiraling violently with power, and stepping out of it was a red haired individual clad in a flowing crimson robe.
This individual was Grey!
Taking in a deep breath, he released it with a satisfied sigh as his gaze swept across the unfamiliar surroundings.
His aura spilled outward in suffocating waves, heavy and oppressive. The beasts nearby sensed it instantly and scattered in panic, fleeing in flashes as they escaped the presence of such an overwhelming existence.
‘That’s right, scurry along weaklings. I’m not here for you.’
He stared around the environment with a grin plastered on his face as the portal behind him snapped shut.
‘Travelling here using a portal created through my spatial magic barely consumed any mana. It feels like losing a single drop from an endless ocean.’
He paused, deliberately ensuring his aura continued radiating outward in powerful surges, its presence spreading far across the land.
‘Now where is this annoying fool?!’
“Hmm… I knew I felt that irritating aura somewhere.”
A sudden feminine voice echoed deep within Grey’s mind, causing a broad smile to stretch across his face.
CRASH!
RUMBLE!
The air trembled violently, as if the heavens themselves were shaking.
Directly before Grey, over a dozen bolts of lightning struck the ground with terrifying intensity, causing the surrounding space to shudder.
With a deafening crash, something began materialising only a few metres away from him.
After several seconds, a massive creature fully emerged.
The creature was enormous, its wings vast and radiant, each feather forged from crackling arcs of pure electricity.
Sparks danced across its form with every powerful beat of its wings, leaving trails of luminous lightning in its wake that split the heavens with thunderous roars.
Its eyes burned with a searing white blue glow, blinding to behold, while its talons shimmered with condensed lightning capable of reducing anything they touched to ash in an instant.
Instead of flames, its body pulsed with living storm energy, its plumage shining like a sky eternally lit by endless bolts.
When it cried out, the sound was not a song of fire but a deafening thunderclap that rattled the very earth beneath them.
It was a lightning phoenix!
The very same phoenix Grey and Thalos had battled in this world to the death after climbing its mountain out of curiosity.
“Good to see you, Kira.”
The phoenix flapped its wings once, piercing blue eyes locking onto the Supreme Magus.
“Something about you feels different. You seem more confident and far stronger.”
“Oh.” Grey muttered as he finally withdrew his aura, his smile never leaving his face.
“What brings you here? Are you here to cash in on my help offer?”
Grey shook his head.
“No. I don’t need your help yet. So let’s keep that aside and talk about something else.”
If the phoenix had eyebrows, they would have been raised by now.
“What do you want to talk about?”
The phoenix then twisted its massive head, scanning the area around the mage.
“And where is the other one? The gargoyle.”
“He’s not here. I came alone because of what I wanted.” Grey replied calmly.
“Okay?” Kira spoke within Grey’s mind, a trace of curiosity laced into her voice.
“What is it?”
The Supreme Magus beamed once more, confidence radiating from him.
“Do you remember what I said the day before I left this place?”
He did not wait for the phoenix to respond before answering himself.
“I said that the next time I came here, I would challenge you to a fight, and you wouldn’t land more than three hits on me before I defeated you.”
The phoenix remained silent, eyes fixed on Grey as storm energy crackled softly around her form.
Grey continued without hesitation.
“So here I am, Kira. I want a rematch. You said the last battle was a fluke because I had help.”
A sigh echoed inside Grey’s mind.
“You remember that whenever a phoenix dies, it always returns stronger. After you killed me that day, I became far more powerful than before. I now stand on the level of a divine being. Can you truly handle me?”
Grey’s lips curved into a confident smirk.
“If I wasn’t certain, I wouldn’t be standing here.”
“The gargoyle isn’t here, and I won’t hold back against you. I will fight seriously. This will be a death match.”
Grey took several steps backward, the wind around him howling violently.
His eyes glowed a brilliant white as lightning flared around his fingers and body, crackling loudly.
The ground beneath his feet rumbled, trembling as though an earthquake was moments away.
“If I win and kill you, you join my squad, pledge your full loyalty, and do everything I ask. That was our deal. You remember it.”
Kira hovered higher, wings beating as arcs of lightning danced across her form.
“And if you lose, you lose your life as well. Are you sure about this? I actually like you. Besides, I still owe you a debt. You could ask for something else.”
“Shall we stop talking?” Grey interrupted as he raised his palm toward the phoenix.
A bright blue beam formed instantly, humming with destructive power.
“Let’s duel.”
BANG!
Okay? Chapter 700 huh? no use for long talk as I might just repeat what I have said for hundreds of milestones already.
So… I’m just here to thank Fenrir Sama, Mastalin Sama for the continuous support in the form of comments, power stones, Golden tickets and even ice colas. I appreciate your support so far in this journey and hope to see you all support harder. Thank.
Cheers to many more chapters to come… specifically, 400 more. Bye now.
