Chapter 698: Revealing Information (1)

CHAPTER 698

“Well, that takes care of that.” Grey shrugged as if the entire ordeal with the first mage had been nothing more than a casual, ordinary occurrence.

He then turned sharply, walking toward the door. He twisted the knob and stepped out of the room, his movements calm yet deliberate.

***

Walking into the hallway, he immediately noticed it was empty. Not a single member of the Crimson Lotus Clan was present.

‘Huh? Strange.’ He mused quietly, furrowing his brow.

“How long did my evolution last, though? I thought I had only been out for a few hours.” He muttered, stroking his chin thoughtfully.

‘They wouldn’t just leave me here alone and head off on a mission, right?’

He was about to think of a way to contact the clan when he saw Alba rushing up the stairs, accompanied by the other members—and a plus one.

Dame!

Seeing the Supreme Magus standing before them in a new robe caused everyone to pause for a moment.

“You’re awake!” Alba exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement and relief.

“Damn! When Alba told me you were this young, I could hardly believe it.” Dame exclaimed in surprise as he strode closer.

Judy shyly tucked her hair behind her ear.

“Yo…you look really handsome.”

“And the new robe complements your hair perfectly,” Lilly added with a short, soft laugh.

Alba didn’t bicker or comment further. She simply walked over and positioned herself directly in front of the mage.

Seeing the older woman so close, Grey couldn’t help but notice the few upper buttons of her shirt slightly loose, allowing a clear view of her cleavage.

For the first time since he could remember, he felt… strange? Observing someone of the opposite gender had never affected him like this before.

He could feel something stirring beneath his legs, a peculiar pressure that seemed to squirm and wriggle against his control.

‘Control yourself, Grey. Don’t be a weakling!’ he chided inwardly.

“I’m glad you’re okay,” Alba commented, letting out a relieved sigh.

Taking a few steps back, Grey cleared his throat and shuffled his robe properly, making sure everything was covered. Luckily, nobody seemed to notice the subtle awkwardness.

“I don’t understand though,” Lilly clicked her tongue lightly.

“Why hide your face behind a mask when you’re this… uhm, good looking?”

Grey tilted his head in her direction, maintaining his calm composure.

“There’s something called a ‘secret identity.'”

With that, he turned and walked back into the room he had just left, the others following close behind.

The moment they stepped inside, their jaws nearly dropped in shock at the state of the room.

“What happened here? Did a fight break out?” Dame asked, his eyes wide.

Ash shook his head slowly.

“So this is why you asked us to leave? You knew something like this would happen?”

‘Of course I didn’t. This is the first time it happened too.’ Grey thought, but he made no move to voice it aloud as the door clicked shut behind them.

Alba let out a long, measured sigh.

“Now that we know you’re okay, kindly explain what put you in the state we found you in. According to Ash and Killian, you’re this overwhelming force of nature, so I’m curious how anyone could ever push you into that condition.”

Grey didn’t respond immediately. He narrowed his eyes at the group, his expression unreadable.

“And why should I tell you anything?”

Killian spoke quickly, his tone firm yet cautious.

“Because we’re partners.”

Grey shook his head slowly.

“Still not enough reason.”

“Look, Supreme Magus,” Alba calmly interjected, cutting through the tension in the room.

“We don’t intend to pressure you, but think about this. You tried to hide your face from us with a mask, yet it was revealed anyway. We can see your face right now, so why hide further?”

“So what’s the point of hiding what’s going on with you? We might find out sooner or later anyway. Why not save us all the unnecessary stress?”

Dame stepped forward, his eyes serious yet respectful.

“And you might not realise this, but like I said before, you indirectly saved me from some pretty dangerous situations. For that, I consider you a friend, even though I hadn’t seen your face before.”

Lance frowned deeply, crossing his arms across his chest with a slight huff.

“I have to admit… I never liked you from the start, and honestly, I still don’t…”

“Do I look like I care?” Grey interrupted sharply, his glare cutting through the tension in the room.

“Chill, dude. I’m not done speaking yet,” Lance countered, returning the stare with equal intensity.

He inhaled deeply a few times, regaining composure before continuing.

“But I have to say this. You’re an asset. Whether you like it or not, we kind of see you as the eighth member of this clan… well, actually, the others do too.”

The Supreme Magus remained silent for a moment, scanning the group with an intense gaze. Then he exhaled slowly, shaking his head.

“I suppose you deserve to know this. They might target this world sooner than we think.”

Everyone’s eyebrows lifted in unison.

“Huh?”

“Listen carefully,” Grey began, his eyes moving around the room, making sure everyone was focused.

“I was attacked by an organisation known as the Otherworlders. As you might have guessed, I’m not originally from this world of warriors. I come from a realm of mages, people with special abilities like this.”

He raised his hands, and for a brief moment, lightning crackled around his fingers before dissipating into the air with a faint sizzle.

“So… there are more of you out there?” Alba asked, a hint of disappointment in her voice.

It was clear why she reacted that way.

She had believed she had encountered someone truly extraordinary, a rare individual she could rely on. Now, learning there were more like him, her perception shifted slightly.

“Yes, there are others. But none as powerful as I am currently. Most of the population in my world only use a single affinity, sometimes two at most. I’m different because I can harness five simultaneously. The first mage to do so, in fact. That’s why they want to assassinate me.”

‘Oh! So he is special indeed,’ Alba thought inwardly, a faint grin tugging at her lips.

Dame’s brows furrowed further.

“They want to assassinate you? Who exactly are ‘they’?”

Grey exhaled heavily, exhaustion faintly visible in his posture.

“The Otherworlders. An organisation that seeks to conquer and control worlds, planets, and entire continents. I don’t know their full agenda, but they have mages in their ranks. I’ve recently discovered that even warriors are part of their forces.”

A stunned silence fell across the room.

“Wait! Warriors? As in Yun warriors of this world?!” Brook shouted, disbelief coloring his tone.

Grey nodded solemnly.

“Yes.”
