Capítulo 695: A Cheater

CHAPTER 695

“Ugh… my head hurts.” Grey let out a soft groan as his hazy sight slowly began to sharpen.

The first thing that assaulted his senses was a deep, nauseating stench rising from beneath him, making his nose twitch as he sluggishly pushed himself upright.

A faint splashing sound echoed in his ears. When he glanced downward, he saw the pool of dark impurities gathered under his body, thick and foul.

“I can never get used to this smell, no matter how many times I evolve.” He released a weary sigh while carefully peeling himself off the floor.

His gaze shifted to his ruined purple robe. The same attire that symbolized the Supreme Magus now lay drenched in viscous black filth, completely destroyed.

From experience, Grey knew that removing such residue from fabric was nearly impossible. Cleaning it was pointless, which was why he always burned or discarded any outfit tainted this badly.

Sigh~

“I guess I’ll just get another robe.” He muttered softly while glancing toward another door within the room.

‘That should be the bathroom. But before I take my bath, I should clean this place first. I wonder how long I was unconscious.’ He thought inwardly as he strode toward the bathroom.

Fortunately, he found cleaning tools stored inside. Without wasting time, he got to work immediately.

Within five minutes, the floor was scrubbed clean, though cracks still marred the surface. He placed the tools neatly in one corner of the damaged chamber before straightening up.

Letting out an exhausted breath, he pulled off his robe and flung it upward. Before it could touch the ground, his palms ignited with an orange glow as he thrust his hands forward.

A fireball surged out, devouring the robe like a ravenous creature. The fabric disintegrated midair, crumbling into ash before drifting down harmlessly as Grey stepped past it.

He then entered the bathroom to wash himself.

Several minutes later, he emerged freshly cleaned, now clad in a crimson robe instead of his usual purple.

Thankfully, he had kept this one inside his storage pendant, and it was also a modified piece crafted by his own hands.

A gentle current brushed through his damp hair as he stared at the ceiling, replaying fragments of his recent battle.

Millie’s death. Vanessa’s final moments. Then the haunting memory of his mother’s demise surfaced, striking deeper than before.

The images lingered before shifting to familiar faces from the academy in his original world.

Scarlet. Raze. Arthur. Greg. Others followed. Even the Lunaria demon’s visage appeared briefly, making his jaw tighten.

A lone tear slid down his cheek as he lowered his gaze to the floor, his chest constricting with sharp emotion.

“I really want to go back, but I can’t.” He exhaled quietly, clenching his fists as his thoughts spiraled.

“Not yet. I need to finish the coup and complete the takeover we planned here. Once everything is stable, I’ll return to my world.”

His eyes hardened.

“I swear it. I will hunt those damned otherworlders and make them pay for everything I’ve suffered. I never crossed their path, yet they chose to cross mine. For that, they will feel my full wrath.”

His lips curved into a strained smile.

“Just a few more months.”

The smile he wore was the kind used to hide pain rather than ease it.

His attention drifted across the room.

The fractured ground caused by his earth affinity reacting to evolution. The damaged walls bearing marks from relentless wind assaults. Every crack told a story of power and struggle.

Finally, his gaze returned to his hands.

Another faint smile formed on his lips, quieter this time, but filled with resolve.

“Man, I have grown stronger than ever before. I still remember how I used to get bullied by Clark and a few others back then.

I remember the pain and hurt that crushed my chest when I heard my dad had died. Then came the moment I wanted to take my own life, only for the first mage to summon my spirit and knock some sense into me.

That was when I discovered I had the potential to wield five affinities. For years now,”

He clenched his fists tightly, feeling raw ki and mana surging, intertwining, and coursing violently through his veins like raging currents.

“I waited endlessly to awaken my fifth affinity. I used to roll around on my bed every night, thinking, imagining, and daydreaming about when it would finally happen and what it would turn out to be. And to my luck,” he smiled faintly as he snapped his fingers.

A portal tore open in front of him, space twisting and folding unnaturally.

“It turned out to be overpowered.”

With a casual wave of his hand, he dismissed the portal before nodding to himself in satisfaction.

“Oh yeah. Let me appraise myself. It’s been a long while!” He snapped his fingers again, a grin spreading across his lips.

“Appraisal.”

Instantly, his left eye glowed with an intense blue light as he stared into empty space.

Glowing azure runes materialised before his vision.

“Wait a moment. I’m a 6 star mage now? How the fuck did that even happen?” His eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at the shimmering symbols hovering before his face.

“I… I remember that when I was cultivating my Dantian, I evolved into a 4 star mage. After that, things became hazy. I came to this world as a 3 star mage, then evolved again that same day and…”

He trailed off briefly, eyes narrowing.

“And now I’m a 6 star mage? Does that mean I skipped a stage? Is that why this evolution felt far more painful than the others?”

Silence followed before a wide smirk stretched across his face.

“And I think I know exactly why.”

‘Draining Z5’s life force allowed me to steal his mana and everything he cultivated throughout his lifetime.

He was a 7 star mage. Absorbing all of that and adding it to my own foundation pushed me far beyond what I was supposed to reach.’

His breathing grew heavier.

“Stealing ki from warriors on top of that, merging everything together, forced my body to evolve as well. I even climbed a warrior stage.”

His lips parted slowly.

“I’m now a stage 4 warrior, which means…”

Excitement bubbled uncontrollably inside him, threatening to burst.

“I can finally learn how to use the second stage of Ki. Hahahahaha!”

He could not hold it back anymore.

A loud, maniacal laughter erupted from his throat, echoing through the damaged room. The sound was so deep and wild that the ground beneath his feet trembled faintly as he clutched his abdomen, laughing without restraint.
