Capítulo 694: Meeting Between Celestials (2)

CHAPTER 694

“Know what?”

Blake’s smile widened even further.

“That you’re a celestial too, duh.”

Borfan said nothing as the faint wind rustled softly between the two of them, drifting across the heated chamber while both figures locked gazes.

Each was trying to read the other like an open tome, searching for hidden intent beneath calm expressions.

“Ah.” Borfan finally released a breath with a light grin, lifting a hand to rub his temples slowly.

“And here I thought I was doing a solid job concealing it.”

“Hpmh.” Blake snorted quietly as he stroked his beard in mild amusement.

“You actually are doing well. It’s just that I’m sharper than you give me credit for. I also know you aren’t alone. There’s another celestial hiding within this world, though I haven’t been able to trace that one yet.”

At those words, Borfan showed no visible shock as his relaxed smile remained in place. The lack of reaction did not escape Blake’s notice.

“You know the other celestial?” Blake asked.

Borfan chose silence instead, lifting his hand in a dismissive wave.

“Forget about him. He’s a lunatic. A battle-obsessed madman, not much different from me.”

Blake exhaled slowly, already feeling a headache forming behind his eyes.

“Then tell me this. What do you truly want? Why did you come looking for me?” Borfan questioned, brows drawing together slightly.

Hearing that, Blake raised his head gradually, his expression turning serious.

“It’s because of the mission. The arrangement our friend made before his death. It’s time we finally carry it out.”

Borfan raised an eyebrow, confusion flickering briefly across his face.

“You mean?”

“Look, I still don’t understand why you refused ascension to the celestial realm. Same goes for the other one. I don’t know why you both chose to remain within the mortal plane instead of rising beyond it.”

“That’s because the celestial realm is unbearably dull.” Borfan interrupted at once, a spark of excitement shining in his eyes.

“Ascending would mean restrictions. We would be forbidden from interfering with mortals by those irritating gods. They act as if they stand infinitely above us.”

“That’s because they actually do.” Blake snapped back without hesitation.

“Whatever.” Borfan shrugged, his heavy voice echoing across the chamber.

“That’s precisely why we stayed. To keep fighting. To keep clashing against worthy opponents.”

“And risk being limited?” Blake countered with a lifted brow.

“It isn’t a terrible bargain. Even with restrictions placed on us by those meddling gods, we remain stronger than nearly everyone else. That’s why I don’t particularly care.”

Blake released another sigh, fingers pressing against his temples as his frown deepened.

“And I stayed behind for another reason.” Borfan added quietly, a trace of sadness entering his tone. “The task he entrusted to me. I had to see it through.”

“If I had ascended, it would have been impossible. Still, I started worrying that you might never come looking for me, and that the mission would fail before it truly began.”

Blake stepped forward slightly, eyes sharpening.

“I have one question. Why? Why are you willing to do this? Do you even understand the consequences? You could lose everything you’ve built throughout your entire life, all for someone else to benefit without paying the price. So why go that far?”

Borfan placed a calm hand against his chest, a brief frown appearing before his face returned to neutrality.

“Why?” he murmured. “I’ve asked myself that countless times, and I still don’t have an answer.”

He looked up at Blake, gaze steady and unshaken.

“I don’t know why I want to do this. I just know that I do.”

Blake just sighed once more.

“Well, who am I to convince you otherwise? It benefits us either way.” He shrugged his shoulders lightly.

“So, who is he?” Borfan asked, one brow lifting with curiosity.

Blake grinned, a knowing look flashing across his face.

“Your son. Your younger son knows who he is.”

Borfan’s eyebrow lifted higher in confusion.

“Huh?”

Blake nodded calmly.

“Yes. He goes by the title Supreme Magus around here. I’m certain you’ve heard that name.”

Of course, who hadn’t? Grey’s name had spread like wildfire across the Noxarian faction.

When Borfan first heard of him, he had even instructed Dame to extend an invitation, yet his son had firmly denied knowing anything about the so called Supreme Magus.

“Oh!”

Blake nodded again, confirming his thoughts.

“So, how capable is he really? Are we certain he’s reliable enough to be our hope of victory?”

Blake’s smirk widened, confidence overflowing from his expression.

“Do you remember our friend’s most trusted ally?”

Borfan’s brows rose slightly.

“Yes. Thalos the gargoyle.”

Blake nodded in agreement.

“He has sworn his loyalty to the Supreme Magus. On top of that, the Supreme Magus has already slain two of the twelve zodiacs belonging to the otherworlders. Oh, and he also killed a lower echelon ten demon just a few days ago.”

Hearing those achievements, Borfan’s mouth fell open briefly before he regained his composure.

“Are you being serious right now, or are you exaggerating his feats?”

“Me? Exaggerate?” Blake burst into loud laughter, shaking his head. “If anything, I’m downplaying him.”

He continued without pause.

“He currently holds the unprecedented record of being the first mage in existence to possess both ki and mana within a single body.

He even fused them together once to unleash a devastating strike, and that alone nearly shattered an entire battlefield.”

“Wait.” Borfan interrupted, lifting a finger as his eyes sharpened in thought.

“Did you just say he’s a warrior mage now?”

Blake nodded, eyebrow lifting in return.

Borfan’s eyes widened for a moment before a slow smirk formed on his lips.

“Oh. So that’s the Supreme Magus Thalos pledged himself to. And I questioned him that day, yet he refused to reveal anything. Interesting.”

“So.” Blake continued, excitement creeping into his voice.

“Are we really doing this? I’ve watched the Supreme Magus for years, and he keeps surpassing expectations, growing at an absurd pace every single time.”

He paused briefly, then sighed.

“Even so, it still feels slow. With two zodiacs dead, the otherworlders will inevitably act. Even with our strength, we cannot face them directly.”

Blake’s expression darkened slightly.

“Their leader exists on an entirely different plane, and he has powerful backing. Leave that aside. What matters is this. The Supreme Magus only needs one final push to evolve into something far more terrifying.”

Blake looked straight at Borfan.

“That push is you.”

Borfan nodded slowly, a calm smile settling on his face.

“Very well. Give me a few days to prepare everything.”

At those words, Blake’s smile broadened immensely as radiant light began enveloping his body.

“Trust me. Trust our fallen friend. The Supreme Magus is the light within this present darkness.”

With those final words, Blake vanished, leaving Borfan alone within the heated chamber, deep in thought.
