Capítulo 664: Can’t Reveal Identity Yet!

CHAPTER 664

“That’s just one of the effects of the shield. Not to toot my own horn, but I feel like I have outdid myself working on that shield, so enjoy.”

Brook slowly lifted his head to stare at Grey, his mouth slightly agape for a moment before he hurriedly shut it again.

“Wh…what other effects does it have?”

“I can’t say,” Grey shrugged with an indifferent look.

“I could check its effects, but I’m too lazy to bother. So it is left for you to figure out what it does.”

‘And that is your punishment for annoying me a bit yesterday. Honestly, I have become slightly petty. Something must be wrong with me.’

“But… but what if it turns out useless in battle?” Brook asked, his grip on the shield tightening as uncertainty filled his voice.

He felt a firm palm rest on his shoulder, stopping him from speaking further.

“Is this how little you trust him?” Ash asked gently.

“The gauntlets he crafted for Dame, we all heard how powerful they were. And I witnessed firsthand how strong and destructive the swords he made for Killian turned out to be. So have faith that your shield will also be epic.”

‘Ironic how that is literally the shield’s rank,’ Grey mused with a soft, amused smile.

Brook released a slow breath, placed the shield on his back and bowed slightly towards Grey.

“Thank you, Supreme Magus, for the shield. I truly hope it does not disappoint.”

Ash followed with a small bow of his own.

“I also want to thank you for saving both mine and Killian’s lives. I know the problem happened because of you, but if you were not there, we would have all died without question. So thank you.”

“You’re welcome,” Grey replied, waving his hand dismissively.

“I want to eat and then freshen up. Leave me be.”

Ash and Brook straightened with soft smiles on their faces.

“Sure thing.”

They turned to leave and were almost at the exit when Grey suddenly recalled something.

“Hold on. When I’m done eating, where do I meet you all? I need to see Alba.”

“Don’t worry, I’m still around,” Ash replied.

“When you are ready, I will take you to her.”

“Alright then. Shut the door behind you,” Grey muttered as he waved lazily.

Thud. Click.

The sound of the door closing echoed in the quiet room. Only then did Grey release his tensed shoulders with a long sigh.

He lifted his hand to his mask, felt the rough surface and pulled it off. Shaking his head, his hair fell loosely as a relaxed smile crossed his face.

“Honestly, I wanted to spend the whole week here,” he whispered.

He set the mask aside and glanced at the tray of food.

“But I don’t think there is anything more I can do here. I have crafted weapons for the Crimson Lotus Clan, and I have secured them as allies too. With their strength added to ours, the coup coming up should be a little easier.”

He sighed deeply and sat on the bare ground before pulling the tray closer.

“Staying here any longer won’t benefit me in any way. It’s not like I can magically grow far stronger in six days. The Ki I absorbed from those men increased my pool and that should be enough for now.”

With that, he began eating his meal with a satisfied smile.

***

A few moments later, he was done eating and freshening up.

Before long, Ash arrived to pick him up, and together they left the warehouse-like building and made their way to where the members of the Crimson Lotus Clan were gathered.

And as usual, they were in a bar.

This time, they were not at the base floor where they had their meeting the previous day. Instead, the group had shifted to the upper floor.

The VIP area.

Ascending the stairs, Grey spotted the other clan members alongside Dame arranging a table with several chairs gathered around it.

Numerous bottles cluttered the table while the clan members kept gulping the drinks without restraint. Killian appeared completely restored, his movements steady and calm.

His injuries from yesterday had vanished entirely, and he wore a relaxed, confident smile.

“Oh, Supreme Magus!” Alba exclaimed the moment she noticed him.

“Isn’t it too early to be drinking?” Grey asked with a raised brow while dragging a chair closer and settling into it.

The rest erupted in loud laughter as they reached for more bottles.

“It is never too early to drink. Who even said such a thing?” Brook shot back.

Grey eyed the table with a doubtful look before shrugging.

“Whatever.”

“So… since you mentioned staying for a week, do you have any particular plans?” Dame asked, wiping his mouth after finishing another drink.

“Actually, I am leaving tomorrow.” Grey revealed casually, causing the entire group to freeze.

Hands suspended in midair, confused expressions turning his way, silence filling the space.

“Huh? Why so fast? What is the rush? Did something happen?” Alba asked rapidly, firing off questions without pausing.

“Need to prepare, nothing is wrong,” Grey answered all at once.

He let out a wide yawn before continuing:

“To be honest, I realized there is not much left for me to do here. I came to recruit allies and grow stronger. The first goal is completed,” he said, pointing around the table.

“But the second part is complicated. I am unsure how I should improve further, and it is not like I can achieve anything significant in just a few days here.

So I decided to head back, think ahead about the coup, and maybe, who knows, I might grow stronger while preparing.” He flicked his shoulders lightly.

Silence settled again as everyone quietly considered his words. After a short pause, Alba spoke up.

“Well, I cannot force you to stay or delay your plans, but I am curious.”

“About what?”

“How do you plan to gather us on that day? Killian and I can reach the arena used for the tournament without attracting suspicion, but if all of us appear there together, people might notice something. It might raise alarms.”

“No need,” Grey responded immediately, flashing a grin at the group.

“Only you should head to the arena. I will bring the rest of the team once the battle begins.

All they must do is remain together the entire day, and I will transport them to the arena safely.”

“Huh? How will you even do that?” Dame asked with a raised brow.

“I have my ways,” Grey replied and pushed his chair back, the legs scraping against the floor as he rose and looked at the table.

“As I said, I am leaving tomorrow. We will meet again in two months. I am counting on all of you.” Without another word, he turned and began walking away.

“Wait!” Alba shouted, making him pause.

He tilted his head slightly, glancing toward her with a raised brow.

She cleared her throat quickly, then offered him a hopeful smile.

“Is… is it possible for me… for us to see your face? At least let us know what you look like.”

Grey did not respond immediately.

He turned his head away for a moment before shaking it and continuing down the stairs.

“The day you see my face will be the day the Supreme Magus becomes too helpless to hide his identity,” his voice echoed as he descended.

“But as long as I still possess strength, none of you can see it… unless, of course, I trust you. Bye for now.”
