Chapter 642: Going to be a Dilemma

Chapter 642

“I accept,” Alba replied as she finally loosened her tensed body, her shoulders dropping slightly as if a heavy weight slid off them.

“Really? Are we seriously doing this, Alba?” Lance asked, his frown deepening while he glared at the clan leader.

His voice carried a low rumble through the room, almost vibrating against the polished table.

“Yes,” Alba answered as she lifted her head to face the others. A small smile tugged at her lips.

“For him to bring up something like this and approach us with such confidence, it means he knows exactly what he is doing.

He believes he can execute this coup, and with how bold his approach is, I believe it too.

Things have remained stagnant for too long in this world. A change is coming, and I feel like he will be the cause of it. I want to be a part of that. So what do you all say?”

‘And more importantly, I refuse to let any other clan get their hands on him.

He is far too valuable to slip away from my fingers,’ she thought, an inward smirk forming as she straightened up.

“Honestly, I don’t even know why I was arguing earlier,” Killian muttered as he lifted his head.

“As long as there’s going to be fighting and bloodshed, I’m in.” He gave a careless shrug mixed with a bloodthirsty smirk.

“Whatever you say, I will do,” Brook replied with a casual shrug, his eyes drifting toward the gauntlets Dame still wore.

“I’m in as long as you are in,” Lilly added while giving a thumbs up.

“Always with you, big sis,” Judy said with a bright smile, her innocent tone breaking the tension.

“Fine, whatever,” Lance scoffed as he leaned back into his seat again, deepening his frown but not resisting anymore.

“Onboard then, not like I have any other choice,” Ash sighed as he sank back into his chair.

‘Good, good, good,’ Grey grinned inwardly as he watched each member fall in line. ‘Now our chances of success just increased a little.’

“Wait. Hold on,” Dame suddenly spoke, cutting through the atmosphere.

His frown deepened as he turned sharply toward Grey. “Did you just say the takeover will be happening in two months?”

“Yes. Why?” Grey asked calmly.

“Isn’t that the month the all-out faction tournament will take place?” Dame questioned, confusion settling in his expression.

“Yes. Why?” Grey repeated.

“Are you sure about what you’re planning? All the leaders of every faction will be present. Do you think you can handle them?” Dame asked, a subtle worry leaking into his tone.

The room seemed to quieten even more as the question floated across it.

“If I couldn’t, I wouldn’t be here making plans,” Grey replied coldly.

He leaned back into his seat with a tired sigh, the faint rustle of his robe echoing around the room.

Dame sighed deeply as he shook his head. His thoughts ran wild.

‘Should I join him or not? It’s not like my father or brothers care about what I do with my life. I’m free to join, but what will it even mean for me?

I have no chance at inheriting the demonic clan, not with my brothers standing tall ahead of me.

If I stay here, I will always remain in their shadow. Nobody will ever recognise me or even spare me a glance.

Isn’t this the moment to carve my own path? I can’t do it alone, and maybe that’s why I never tried.

Or maybe I was simply too afraid. But here, the Supreme Magus stands ready to make his own path… ready to shake this world without fear.

And I’m just sitting here whining?’ He wondered, his teeth grinding repeatedly as his face scrunched up.

‘Tch. Enough of this. It’s time for the world to hear my name. It’s time to move forward and carve my own destiny.’ His fists tightened so hard his knuckles whitened instantly.

“I will also be joining you, Supreme Magus,” Dame muttered, his voice steady despite refusing to lift his head.

“Huh?” Grey muttered with a confused look on his face.

“But I didn’t invite you. You don’t have to join. I don’t want any problems with your clan.”

“Pfft.” Dame let out a dry chuckle. “My clan? Do they even care about me? Does my father even bother about where I am or what I do?

Just last month, he sent me on a suicide mission with three hundred men, and you think he cares?

I am tired of being ignored. I am tired of being treated like a shadow. It is time for me to be heard.

It is time for Dame to shine too, so I beg you, do not hold me back the same way my family keeps holding me down.” He pleaded as he looked up at Grey, eyes trembling with a mix of desperation and anger.

Grey sighed and rubbed his temples as a mild headache pulsed behind his eyes.

“Fine. But for this to work and for you to survive, you must evolve to the next stage as fast as possible.

My allies are also pushing themselves to evolve, and that is part of the reason I came here.

I need to grow stronger too. I only have a week to spend here before I return to make preparations.”

“The weapons.” Alba suddenly cut in as she leaned forward. “When do we get them?”

“Like I said, I only have a week before I am forced to return.” Grey replied calmly.

“Within that time, I can only modify two weapons, so you all need to decide who gets the slots.

Once you decide, bring me all your old or useless weapons, gather hundreds of beast cores, and secure a place where I can work without disturbance. After that, I will handle the rest.”

“Huh? Just two slots?” Lance blurted out, baffled. Grey simply nodded.

“Now who do we pick? We all want modified weapons.” Lilly groaned as she slumped slightly, her brows knitted in frustration.

“It is only fair we give the slots to those who contribute the most to this clan and our upcoming battles.” Ash replied in a calm tone while crossing his arms.

“So does that mean the slots go to Alba and Killian?” Brook asked with a deep frown as he stared at the table, fingers tapping slowly against the wood.

Grey chuckled inwardly. ‘Call me petty or anything you like, but this is payback for draining my energy earlier. Enjoy deciding who gets the slots.’

“Well, that choice isn’t for us but for Alba to make.” Lance added, and everyone turned toward their leader.

“So who should get the slots, Alba?” Judy asked shyly, barely lifting her gaze.

Alba’s smile slowly faded as the weight of the decision settled on her shoulders.

A dull ache pressed behind her forehead as she rubbed her temples with growing frustration. The room felt heavier, the air thick with expectation.

‘This is going to be a dilemma.’ she thought as the murmurs around her slowly faded, leaving her alone with the pressure of choosing who deserved the precious upgrades.
