Chapter 592
Thalos, on the other hand, was about to face serious trouble as he clashed with a demon when…
Wooosh!
Five more claws were now speeding toward him from behind, and his eyes widened.
“Kek! Too slow.” The gargoyle chuckled as he slammed his feet into the ground. Then, with a sudden burst of speed, he shot into the air, hovering there for a second as he watched the demons’ claws slice through the space where he had stood a moment ago.
“Die!” He roared as he dived from above with his sword raised, then hurled it with all his strength toward the demons, who all lifted their claws in the air, trying to block.
BANG!
BOOOM!
A huge shockwave blasted out as the sword struck the demons with a massive bang. The greatsword sliced through their claws like they were made of paper before smashing into the ground, cracking it and kicking up a thick cloud of dust. In one fluid motion, Thalos spun around, swinging his sword in a perfect arc.
Before the demons could even blink, their heads all dropped down with a dull thud, blood spurting from where their necks had once been.
The gargoyle glanced upward, glaring at the lower echelon who hovered in the air, calmly observing the carnage unfolding below.
‘You are the biggest threat here, I can feel it. But I can’t get to you right now. If I want to, I’d need to change back into my real form. I can’t do that now, because then everybody in the academy would know I’m not human, and that would cause me serious trouble,’ Thalos thought, his eyes narrowing as more demons charged right at him.
Around a dozen of them closed in within seconds, and before long, they were already upon him, unleashing wild swings at his body and neck.
‘Uhm. This might get tricky,’ he thought, and then with a loud bang, he dashed backward, avoiding several claws. But as if the demons shared a single mind, they spun around and lunged toward him again.
The air around his cheek grew sharp as a claw strike sliced through the air toward his face, and he casually leaned aside to avoid it.
Before he could retaliate, another demon thrust toward his abdomen, but he carefully lifted his sword in its path.
BOOM!
The ground trembled as the demon’s claw clashed against his blade, but Thalos didn’t budge an inch. His gauntleted hand shot up, grabbing another demon’s claw streaking toward his face.
In one smooth motion, his foot shot forward, slamming into the demon’s abdomen with bone-crushing force that tore its limb clean off. The body was flung backward, crashing into the other demons with a loud crunch.
Thalos then swung his leg from the side, smashing one demon’s head clean off before stabbing it with his sword. With a single powerful lift, he hoisted the corpse high and hurled it into the rest of the charging demons.
A thunderous bang echoed out as the body slammed into several of them, scattering them like bowling pins. Without hesitation, Thalos dashed forward again, streaking forth like a blur, his sword carving deep trenches into the ground.
But it wasn’t only the earth that was being carved; the demons’ bodies were being sliced apart as if he were cutting open pumpkins on a bloody Halloween night.
Meanwhile, the echelon’s crimson eyes darted around the coliseum, scanning every human in sight, silently gauging their threat levels. When its gaze landed on Thalos, watching how he ripped through the demons like a phantom of war, its eyes narrowed.
‘That human… he’s strong, quite strong. Is he one of the leaders of this world or what? He doesn’t even look like he’s struggling—just tearing through my soldiers like they’re nothing. Hmm… he’s dangerous,’ the echelon thought darkly.

In another part of the battlefield, Finral, Liam, and Jared were currently fighting side by side, cutting down demons one after another, though at a much slower rate compared to the elite fighters elsewhere. The ground around them was scorched and littered with corpses, and every breath they took came with grit, smoke, and blood.
Swooosh!
“Up above!” Liam shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos. The trio instantly glanced upward before darting away, barely escaping as a demon crashed down where they had stood just seconds ago. The ground shattered, sending shards of stone flying everywhere.
“Close call,” Liam muttered, gulping shakily while the demon snarled and bared its fangs at them.
Though they were a team of three, since the start of the battle, they had only managed to take down a single demon—and now, another one had locked onto them.
“Remember, you both,” Finral said, his tone grim yet determined. “Nobody’s coming to help us. Everyone’s too busy handling their own fights, so we’re on our own. Which is why you both need to toughen up, and let’s take down as many of these bastards as we can.”
The demon, clearly uninterested in any pep talk, roared and bolted toward them.
Without hesitation or fear, Finral dashed forward to meet it head-on. The demon’s claws sliced through the air in a vicious upward swing aimed straight for his torso.
‘Damn it! My sword broke during the tournament. I only have my fists to rely on right now,’ he thought, quickly swirling Ki around his hands and feet. He pivoted sharply on one foot, leaning back just in time as the claws cut through the air barely an inch from his face.
Without losing momentum, he pushed off the ground and lunged forward, aiming to bash his fist into the demon’s head. But the creature reacted instantly—its arm shot up, blocking the blow with a resounding bam! that shook the air.
The demon tried to counter, swinging its claws horizontally toward Finral’s ribs, but before the strike could land, Jared appeared out of nowhere, stepping in front of it with his sword tightly gripped in both hands.
“You’re right. Heaven helps those who help themselves,” Jared said through gritted teeth. Then, with every ounce of strength he could muster, he thrust his sword forward in a deadly stab.
But to the demon, his attack looked like slow motion. It easily leaped backward, evading the thrust with a mocking growl.
However, before it could counterattack, a shadow fell over it—Liam was descending from above, his sword raised high. With a fierce roar, he brought his blade down in a vertical slash aimed straight at the demon’s skull.
The creature sensed danger at the last second and pivoted to the side, but Liam reacted swiftly. He kicked off the air itself, bursting forward mid-fall to adjust his strike. Though the demon was faster, his blade still connected—biting deep into the creature’s shoulder.
A gush of dark blood splattered as the sword tore six inches into the demon’s flesh, forcing a snarl of pain out of it.
