Chapter 591: Put Differences Aside!

Chapter 591

The moment Mada was done dealing with his own batch of demons, he turned around to see Ray standing up from the ground. Luckily, Ray wasn’t too injured, thanks to the fact that he had surrounded his body with Ki for protection.

“Look out!” Mada shouted as he suddenly hurled his sword toward Ray’s direction, causing the weapon to slice through the air at full speed.

Ray, on seeing the sword, immediately pivoted to the side, his instincts kicking in. He spun around and saw the blade lodged deep into one of the demon’s abdomen, causing dark blood to gush out in thick streams.

But surprisingly, the demon wasn’t dead. It let out a feral snarl, baring its jagged teeth before bolting toward Ray with a sudden burst of speed, appearing right in front of him in the blink of an eye.

Its claw streaked through the air with a sharp whoosh, and by the skin of his teeth, Ray lifted his arms to block. The moment the demon’s claw struck, the impact rattled his entire body.

His arms shook violently as pain rippled through his bones, and before he could react, the force lifted him off his feet and hurled him away like a ragdoll.

“Damn you!” Mada cursed through gritted teeth as Ki flared wildly around his feet. He exploded forward in a burst of speed, appearing before the demon in the twinkle of an eye.

He swung his fist at full power toward the demon’s head, but the creature leaped back, narrowly avoiding the blow.

Mada’s punch struck empty air with a booming thud that sent a wave of dust spiraling out. His sword was still stuck in the demon’s abdomen, the blade sizzling faintly from the Ki residue.

Before he could reposition himself, the demon blurred forward again with unnatural speed and slammed a solid kick into his stomach.

Blood sprayed from Mada’s mouth as his body jerked backward, but before he could be sent flying, the demon grabbed his shoulder tightly and restrained him. In the same motion, it swung its claw toward his neck with frightening precision.

But before the deadly strike could connect, Ray appeared beside them, Ki swirling around his leg as he swung it. His kick clashed with the demon’s claw, and a mini shockwave burst out. The ground beneath them cracked violently from the sheer pressure.

Ray gritted his teeth, veins bulging on his neck as the demon pushed forward, trying to force its claw through. The raw strength behind its arm trembled through the air. However, Mada immediately seized the opening.

In a flash, he bolted forward, grabbed his sword, and began pouring every ounce of Ki he could muster into it. Then, in one fluid motion, he lifted it upward with all his might, cleaving through the demon’s torso and splitting its head clean in two.

Blood splattered across the stone floor as the demon let out one final shriek before collapsing lifelessly. Mada stood over the corpse, his chest heaving and sweat running down his temples. Even through exhaustion, he gripped his sword tighter, his sharp eyes scanning the chaotic coliseum that had descended into madness.

“Don’t you know anything other than defense?” Mada asked with a scowl as he glared at Ray, clearly irritated.

“And yet, if I hadn’t defended you, you’d be dead by now,” Ray shot back, his tone calm but cold. “Look, I know you hate peasants, Grey, and the rest of us who are his friends.

But right now, we’ve got a common enemy, so I’d appreciate it if we dropped the damn differences and focused on surviving. After this is over, you can pick up your beef with us again. Fair?”

Mada’s brows furrowed as his grip on his sword tightened, but before he could respond, Ray’s expression suddenly changed. His eyes widened as his instincts screamed, and without hesitation, he bolted forward.

The descendant blinked in confusion, raising an eyebrow, instantly going on guard as he assumed Ray was about to attack him. But Ray ignored him completely, sidestepping at the last second and appearing in front of a demon that had been creeping up from behind, claws raised for a fatal strike.

BAM!

The deafening sound echoed across the chaotic field, causing Mada to spin around just in time to see the demon swinging its claws from the side after tanking Ray’s punch like it was nothing.

‘Oh no, you don’t!’ Mada roared internally as he channeled Ki into his sword until the blade trembled with raw energy. Then, with every ounce of strength he could muster, he swung it outward, releasing a massive invisible slash that burst forth with a screeching gust of pressure. In the blink of an eye, the energy wave smashed into the demon’s claw, deflecting it away from Ray.

Ray didn’t waste the opening. Ki flared around his right foot, crackling faintly, and he twisted his body before slamming a brutal kick into the demon’s abdomen.

The impact was so intense that the creature’s body shot backward like a launched projectile, tearing through chunks of the ground before finally skidding to a stop several meters away.

“Okay?” Ray asked, glancing toward Mada with a raised eyebrow, his tone calm but slightly teasing.

Mada exhaled sharply, the tension in his shoulders easing just a bit before he sighed in resignation. “Fine. Let’s take down these demons then,” he muttered before tightening his grip on his sword.

With a sharp grunt, the two sprinted off side by side, vanishing into the chaos ahead as the battle around them raged on.

—

Elsewhere on the battlefield, Albed could be seen surrounded—fighting off five demons at once.

‘Damn it! I was sent on a supposedly easy mission, but here I am battling ancient forces with insane power!’ she cursed inwardly as her body moved on pure instinct. She leaned backward just in time to avoid a slash aimed for her neck, the claws whistling past her face by mere inches.

Before she could even exhale, another claw came for her legs, forcing her to leap high into the air. While airborne, and without losing momentum, she twisted her body midair and spun into a perfect roundhouse kick aimed at one of the demon’s necks. The blow landed with a loud crack, the air itself trembling from the force.

But the demon barely flinched. It tanked the attack as if her strike meant nothing, its glowing eyes burning brighter in defiance.

Before she could recover, another demon lunged, leaping high above her head. It swung its massive leg down in a vicious axe kick, cutting through the air like a falling boulder.

Albed’s instincts screamed. She instantly crossed both arms above her head, Ki flaring to reinforce her guard just as the kick connected.

BAM!

The strike slammed into her guard with devastating power, the shockwave rippling through her arms and chest. The force sent her hurling downward, but she managed to react at the last second—slamming her palm into the ground to absorb the fall, twisting her body mid-motion, and flipping to land perfectly on her feet.

She barely caught her breath before another demon appeared in front of her, thrusting its claws toward her abdomen with deadly speed.

‘Damn it! I didn’t sign up for this!’ she roared inwardly, rage mixing with focus as she sidestepped just in time and countered with a sharp kick to the demon’s side. The impact sent it tumbling backward, crashing into a pile of debris.

She spun again, thinking another was behind her, but the danger came from her flank instead. The demon beside her swung its muscular arm like a bat, its claws shimmering faintly with dark energy.

The blow connected squarely with her ribs, smashing into her side with immense force. Albed’s body was launched across the battlefield, slamming into the ground hard enough to kick up a violent gust of wind.

Dust and debris scattered everywhere as she groaned, struggling to get back up while blood trickled down the side of her lip.
