Magus Supremacy - Chapter 589
Chapter 589: Go Hard from the get go!
Chapter 589
What nobody noticed was that while the demon’s attention was focused on the front, Rivock, who stood far behind, had already begun moving without anyone noticing a thing.
What was he doing? He was planting Ki from his feet into different directions of the coliseum, and wherever he couldn’t reach because of the demons’ attention, he would hurl a tiny bit of Ki there to wait patiently like a trap.
While Sera decided it was time to give a speech, Rivock began meditating while standing, trying to replenish even a small fraction of Ki into his Dantian. Though it wasn’t completely depleted, it was clear he wouldn’t be able to fight at full strength.
When he heard Sera finish speaking, followed by the echelon’s command and the demons’ charge, Rivock’s eyes snapped open. In an instant, he raised his hand and snapped his fingers, causing a massive explosion that blasted the demons backward, flinging them aside like ragdolls.
One of the demons was caught directly in the blast, and its entire body was torn apart, leaving only four hundred and ninety-nine demons remaining.
But that didn’t deter the others. Some of them leaped high above Sera, aiming to dive into the crowd and slaughter them all alive.
However, before they could descend, a black whip suddenly shot through the air like a serpent, coiling around one of the demons by its horn before flinging it straight into the others, sending them crashing and sprawling midair.
Kent, on the other hand, leaned forward as Ki swirled and condensed beneath his feet. With a deafening bang, he shot forward—faster than the eyes could see appearing right in front of a demon that instantly swung its claw at his face.
But his sword, infused with Ki, was faster. It cut through the air with lethal precision, slicing off the demon’s claw and, in one seamless motion, severing its head.
The body dropped to the ground with a heavy thud. But before he could breathe, five more demons dashed toward him, surrounding him from all sides and ready to pounce.
Elsewhere, one of the spectators was so shaken that he couldn’t even move. A demon blitzed toward him in a blur, its claw shooting forward at terrifying speed. The man’s eyes widened in panic, and he shut them tightly, bracing for death—until…
CLANG!
Sparks flew as claw met steel. The one who blocked the attack was none other than Mada, who was seen skidding backward from the sheer force behind the strike.
His teeth clenched tightly as pain surged through his arms. He quickly glanced behind him.
“Move away now!” he roared, and the man didn’t need to be told twice. He bolted off just in time as Mada’s eyes snapped forward again only to see another claw streaking toward his neck.
‘Crap! How am I supposed to dodge this fast claw?! My hands are pretty occupied!’ he thought, heart pounding wildly in his chest.
Before the strike could land, a pair of gauntlets intercepted it, taking the brunt of the attack. The impact sent the blocker skidding backward, but he immediately regained his footing and spun around, unleashing a roundhouse kick that slammed into the demon’s neck.
A loud bang echoed across the arena but surprisingly, the demon barely flinched. Its leg shot up in retaliation, slamming into the blocker’s leg—Ray’s leg and a loud crack filled the air as the student was hurled backward, tumbling violently across the ground.
‘Fuck! It’s quite strong,’ Mada thought with a deep frown. But he didn’t let that deter him. With a sharp grunt, he flung the demon’s claw away from his sword, and before it could react, Ki swirled around his feet.
Without hesitation, the descendant shot forward like a spear. His sword pierced straight through the demon’s neck, impaling it cleanly and sending its body collapsing to the floor with a thunderous thud.
Elsewhere, Thalos was surrounded by nearly ten demons, each one more menacing than the other, their blood-red eyes burning with hatred and hunger.
A claw shot forward faster than any normal human could react, but the gargoyle, in a blistering display of speed, quickly pivoted on one foot, narrowly avoiding the strike. The claw sliced through empty air with a sharp bang that echoed faintly.
The demon followed up immediately with a sweeping attack aimed at the gargoyle’s legs. Thalos reacted in a flash, leaping high into the air as his golden eyes glowed with intensity.
While still airborne, another claw shot toward his abdomen, but the gargoyle met it head-on. His leg swung out like a whip, connecting with the oncoming limb.
The moment his foot made contact, a loud crack ripped through the air as the demon’s claw snapped clean off its arm. With a burst of raw power that made it seem as if he had vanished, Thalos reappeared right in front of the demon.
His sword moved like a streak of lightning, slashing through flesh and bone, decapitating heads as easily as cutting through paper.
‘These beings are weak. Why is that? Or am I just stronger than them?’ Thalos thought, his brows furrowed. Just as he pondered that, another claw came flying from behind him. Yet, as if he had eyes in the back of his head, Thalos spun around with perfect timing, bringing his sword up to intercept the strike.
CLANG!
The sound rang out as his blade clashed with the claw, forcing him to skid back several meters across the cracked floor. He steadied himself quickly, but then…
Whoosh!
Five more claws tore through the air toward him from behind, moving so fast they left streaks of distortion. His eyes widened as he prepared to counter.
Meanwhile, Grey stood completely still—not out of fear, but deep thought. His mind was spinning, analyzing the situation and trying to decide what to do and what not to do. His sharp gaze swept across the coliseum that had descended into utter chaos.
Students and instructors fought desperately, but they couldn’t be everywhere at once. The stands that were once filled with cheering spectators were now soaked in blood. Bodies of the dead and dying littered the ground like broken dolls.
The demons had sheer numbers on their side, and they were using that advantage mercilessly. Rivock, on the other hand, was doing everything he could, detonating blasts of exploding Ki every chance he got, dropping demonic bodies one after another.
‘Demons, huh?’ Grey thought, lowering his gaze to his trembling hands. He clenched them tightly, then released, his fingers flexing in and out as if testing his own strength.
The bright, pitch-white glow that had once filled his eyes was gone now, replaced by their usual color. His power felt… different—stable yet simmering beneath the surface.
‘I don’t know how strong these races truly are,’ he thought silently, ‘but it’s clear that I’m about to transition from weak battles to cosmic-level fights. Which is why…’
His head slowly lifted as he spotted a dozen demons breaking formation, rushing straight toward him with terrifying speed, their snarls echoing through the ruined arena.
‘I’ll go hard from the very start.’
“Lightning Boots!” he called out, his voice cutting through the chaos like thunder. Instantly, a pair of crackling boots materialized around his feet, arcs of electricity dancing wildly across them. He took a deep breath, leaned forward slightly, and allowed his Ki to compress beneath his soles.
Then…
BANG!
The ground beneath him exploded as Grey vanished. If someone claimed a person had moved faster than light itself, Grey would’ve been the perfect example.
His speed utterly shattered the limits of what was believed possible as he surged forward, tearing through space, rapidly closing the distance between himself and the oncoming demons.
The demons barely had time to register what was happening before a streak of lightning flashed between them like divine judgment.
