Chapter 588: The Reason the academy was created!
Chapter 588
In the vast universe, humans of the Vayun world often felt as though they had simply appeared one day without truly understanding their place in the grand design.
They would never have believed in the existence of otherworldly powers if not for one undeniable fact—every Yun warrior who managed to reach Stage 10 ascended into the Celestial Realm.
That single phenomenon was proof enough that beings existed beyond the mortal plane. Beings of incomprehensible power, far beyond what any human could ever hope to match. Among those beings were the demons.
They were entities that rarely bothered with the mortal world unless something truly demanded their attention. Their gaze was fixed on the Celestial Realm, where their eternal war for dominance and chaos thrived.
Within the demonic ranks, there were countless divisions. At the very bottom were the cannon fodders—newly recruited demons who were considered the lowest of the low.
But even those “weak” demons were powerful enough to annihilate entire cities of Yun warriors. Compared to the Twelve Echelons, however, those lesser demons were nothing more than ants.
And right now, those very creatures had breached the human world… with one of the Twelve Echelons among them. Not the twelfth. Not the eleventh. But the tenth.
Up above, in a boundless sea of white light, two figures sat facing a floating transmission. The projection showed the chaos unfolding at the Aetherian Academy—the trembling students, the crumbling arena, and the terrifying demons that had just arrived.
One of the figures was an old man with flowing white hair that shimmered faintly like mist. Beside him sat a much younger man with short brown hair and sharp eyes.
The old man was no ordinary being—he was one of the First Generation of Mages, a living legend. His eyes were cold and ancient, yet full of concern as he stared at the transmission.
“Damn it!” the brown-haired man muttered, slamming his palm on his knee. “Why did the demons decide to appear here of all places?”
The old man sighed deeply. “Because of Grey. They don’t realize it yet, but Grey’s immense energy drew them here. And now that a Lower Echelon has taken notice… things will spiral out of control quickly.”
“Uhm,” the brown-haired man smirked faintly, “but Grey’s there though. You and I both know he’s not the type to go down easily.”
“Are you seeing that Lower Echelon Ten?” the old man asked, his tone sharp. “Forget his number—he still possesses immense strength. Grey with only two affinities awakened and a few martial skills won’t make a difference. Not against that thing.”
He paused, brows furrowing deeper. “Unless… he uses his other two affinities.”
The brown-haired man turned to him. “Then why doesn’t he?”
“Because he can’t.” The old man’s gaze hardened. “He has no recollection of ever using them. I sealed those memories myself.”
“What?!” the brown-haired man snapped. “Then unseal them! Give them back to him before he dies!”
“No,” the old man replied firmly. “Not yet. If I do that, the hot-headed fool will immediately try to return to his original world—and he’s still nowhere near ready to face his true opponents there.”
The younger man exhaled sharply, slumping in defeat. “Then they’re all cooked,” he muttered.

Back in the coliseum, silence reigned. Every spectator, every student, every instructor stood frozen, unable to even breathe properly as they stared at the nightmarish beings before them.
“Ever heard of demons before?” someone in the crowd whispered shakily.
Another voice answered, trembling. “No… and I don’t want to find out.”
The Lower Echelon stepped forward, its skeletal wings twitching slightly as its shadow stretched across the arena floor. “Don’t move,” it said in a voice that sounded like multiple whispers overlapping. “I hereby order every single individual within a seven-metre radius to remain exactly where they are. If anyone moves…”
“Fuck it, man! I’m out of here!” one man shouted, bolting toward the exit in pure panic.
The demon didn’t even glance at him. It just stood still, almost bored, watching the man sprint across the shattered platform. He reached the doorway that led outside…
FWIIIISH!
A sound too fast for human hearing cut through the air.
The man froze mid-stride. For a brief, horrifying second, his body twitched—and then collapsed into dozens of neatly sliced pieces that hit the ground with wet thuds.
Gasps erupted all over the coliseum as blood splattered across the floor.
And through it all, the demon’s grin widened.
“AHHHH!” A female in the crowd screamed in sheer horror, her trembling voice echoing through the chaos as her eyes locked onto the diced-up man lying lifeless on the ground.
‘It didn’t move, did it?! So how? H… how did it kill that man?!’ Grey thought, his heartbeat pounding wildly in his chest. His breathing was shallow, his throat dry to the point of pain. Every instinct screamed at him to run, but his body refused to obey.
“Anyway,” the echelon began casually, his deep voice rumbling through the coliseum, “as I was saying, I’m not in the mood to waste my time battling with weaklings. Nah.” He chuckled coldly, then pointed toward the five hundred demons behind him.
“So I’ll let them handle you all while I wait for your leaders or any powerful individual to crawl out and entertain me.”
His grin widened as his voice deepened into a guttural growl. “So boys,” he said, and with one mighty flap of his skeletal wings, his body shot upward, hovering about seven meters in the air. Looking down upon the arena, he added mockingly, “Enjoy.”
The moment the words left his mouth, the five hundred demons erupted into motion. Their bodies twisted, shadows rippling as they charged forward with terrifying speed, their screeches splitting the air like blades.
“Not on my watch,” Sera muttered coldly, her eyes hardening. Ki flared to life around her like a raging storm. She pulled out her sword, and with an ear-splitting bang, her figure blurred and vanished.
In the blink of an eye, she appeared in front of the charging horde. Without hesitation, she slammed the hilt of her sword into the ground, sending a massive wave of Ki rippling outward. The energy blast struck the frontline demons, launching them backward like rag dolls.
“I know that some of you are already tired and drained from the tournament!” Sera shouted, her voice echoing across the coliseum as her aura surged even higher. “And I know the rest of you are terrified after seeing these things you’ve never faced or even heard of before!”
She raised her sword toward the snarling demons and bellowed, “But remember why you trained in the first place! You were never told the full truth, but I’ll tell you right now.”
Her voice thundered, full of fiery conviction. “This academy was created because of the demons! Yes, you heard me right! That’s why we train you, why we push you past your limits so that when this day comes, you’ll be ready to defend your families, your factions, and your world!”
She pointed at the horde of demons, her Ki swirling like a raging tempest. “So now, I want every single soul who can still stand to pick up your weapons and fight! Protect your homes! Protect your world! Fight like your lives depend on it — because they do!”
Her words ignited something in the hearts of every warrior present. Fear turned into rage. Despair turned into determination. They clenched their fists, their weapons, their teeth — ready to die if they had to.
“She exhausts me,” the Lower Echelon muttered lazily from above, tilting his head. “Bring me her head.” He yawned loudly, completely unfazed by the chaos below.
The demons roared at his command and charged again, faster this time, their claws slicing through the air as their bodies blurred like shadows.
But Sera didn’t move back. Her eyes burned with resolve as she launched herself forward to meet them head-on, her sword glowing with raw Ki.
“There was no need for your speech,” a chilling, demonic voice echoed from somewhere within the battlefield, filled with cruel amusement. “I was already willing to fight.”
Then…
Snap!
BOOOOM!
A blinding explosion tore through the coliseum, shaking the very foundations as the battle between humans and demons truly began.
