Magus Supremacy - Chapter 586
Chapter 586: A Portal Break?
Chapter 586
“You were saying?” Grey asked as he grinned towards Rivock, who stood frozen in shock.
Nobody, not even the other participants or instructors, could move after witnessing what they were seeing. Sera, on the other hand, immediately shot up from her seat in horror as she realized what the yellow band student had just done.
“W…wh…what the hell?!” Mada shouted in utter disbelief, his body trembling uncontrollably as he stared at the two hundred lightning arrows surrounding Rivock from every corner.
Their tips crackled with lethal energy that could be felt by the entire crowd. Hearts pounded wildly, and every single hair on their bodies stood on end as a chilling wave of electricity ran through the coliseum.
‘I…is this his full power? When we fought against the phoenix, he only used a hundred arrows, but now he’s using two hundred? What even is his limit?’ Thalos thought, brows furrowed deeply as he watched the scene unfold.
‘Ho…how will Rivock survive this? No wonder Grey isn’t from around here. His ability is not of this world.’ Noelle thought as her blood ran cold, unable to tear her gaze away.
‘Oh boy! His threat level just skyrocketed. Nope! I’m not strong enough to handle him. We need at least a Captain for this. Otherwise, there’s no way I can complete this mission.’ Albed thought with beads of sweat sliding down her face.
‘G…Grey? What kind of monster have we been nurturing all this time?’ Finral thought as his throat went dry. His mind flashed back to all the insults, bullying, and humiliation he had thrown at Grey when his father brought the red-haired boy home. ‘I hope he’s forgiven me…’ he gulped hard, guilt twisting in his chest.
“Kek, Kek, Kek!” Rivock’s sinister laughter echoed across the coliseum as the hundreds of lightning arrows illuminated his smirking face. Yet, his gaze never left Grey. “Whoo! I’m so scared! Two hundred arrows! How ever will I survive?! Hahaha!” The descendant laughed mockingly, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
‘Huh? Has Rivock gone mad already?’ Kent thought with a raised brow, his jaw tightening.
“For real though, is this all you can pull out? If not, I want you to unleash everything you’ve got. Now.” Rivock ordered, his tone suddenly cold and commanding.
“Huh?” Grey muttered with a confused frown.
‘Why is he not afraid?’ Sera thought, her heartbeat quickening as a dreadful realization crept over her face. ‘No! Don’t tell me he wants to use that technique! It’s too dangerous for someone his age… it could kill him!’
“So you’re not scared, huh? Fine then. Say your last prayers.” Grey grinned darkly as he prepared to snap his fingers again—just as Rivock burst into loud, unhinged laughter.
“Who said I’m dying?” the descendant taunted, his grin stretching wider. He lifted a finger to the air and almost immediately, bright yellow lights flared across the entire coliseum. The glow spread rapidly, forming intricate patterns and symbols that began to take shape above them.
As the formation expanded, blood trickled down Rivock’s mouth, but he didn’t care. His grin only widened, eyes burning with wild excitement as the light grew brighter and brighter.
‘Oh shit… this isn’t good.’ Kent thought, realization slamming into him. He turned toward the students still standing nearby, his face pale.
“Everybody, move away from the platform right now! Otherwise, we’ll be caught in something we might not escape from!” Kent shouted at the top of his lungs.
The students looked at him like he’d lost his mind—until the ground beneath their feet began to hum.
“Everybody close to the platform,” Sera shouted, amplifying her voice with Ki flowing into her throat. “Get the hell away from there! Those in the stands, I want you all to duck the f**k down now!”
Her voice boomed across the entire coliseum, and at once, everyone scrambled to obey. Those nearest to the platform bolted toward the stands in a frenzy, their footsteps pounding against the stone floor. They barely made it in time before the blinding yellow light completed its formation.
Gasps erupted as the scene fully revealed itself—three hundred Ki swords hovered in the air, vibrating with deadly yellow condensed energy. Rivock’s face twisted into a grin that refused to fade even as blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.
‘Alright, I went ahead and created a dangerous Ki attack, but I don’t mind using it to take this bastard down!’ he roared inwardly as the swords trembled with violent energy.
‘Ki can do that?!’ Grey was stunned to his core when he finally heard it…
Snap!
The Ki swords shot toward him at breakneck speed. In the same heartbeat, Grey snapped his fingers, releasing his lightning arrows that tore through the air like a swarm of falling meteors.
“Oh shit! Everybody, duck down now!” Kent roared, his voice filled with pure panic. Without hesitation, every single person in the stands dropped low, shielding their heads just as the Ki swords and lightning arrows were moments away from colliding.
And then, the inevitable happened.
KA-BOOOOM!
The collision unleashed a deafening explosion so loud it felt like the heavens themselves had cracked open. The entire coliseum shook violently as people covered their ears, some even screaming from the overwhelming sound.
A monstrous shockwave tore across the entire arena, shaking it from top to bottom with unrelenting force. Those crouching were flung into one another, rolling across the floor as the pressure wave raged through the air.
Even Sera herself staggered backward, barely managing to stabilize her footing by forcing Ki into her legs.
The once-proud platform where the battle had begun was now nothing but a ruin—shattered, crumbled, and sunken into the ground as if devoured by the earth itself. The air was distorted, rippling violently, and for a brief moment, it looked as though the very fabric of space might tear apart.
The shockwave hit both Rivock and Grey head-on, sending them flying in opposite directions. Their bodies slammed hard into the coliseum walls, the sound of impact echoing like thunder as cracks spidered out from where they landed.
Rocks, fragments of debris, and streaks of wild residual energy rained down from above while thick clouds of smoke swallowed everything in sight.
“Kuk… kuk!” Grey and Rivock were both heard coughing painfully, blood dripping from their lips as they struggled to get back on their feet.
The dust finally began to settle, allowing the horrified spectators to lift their heads. Shock was written all over every face.
Even Sera’s composure cracked—her expression darkened as fury took over.
“Are you two nuts?!” she thundered, her voice booming across the arena. But neither warrior responded. Their focus was locked on each other, their killing intent flaring wildly.
“It’s not yet over!” Grey and Rivock shouted in perfect unison as they prepared to rush forward again. But before either could move…
Crackle! Crackle! Crackle!
BOOOOM!
Another shockwave burst out from between them, though they hadn’t even clashed yet. The air itself trembled and rippled violently. The concentrated force slammed into both fighters, knocking them back and sending them skidding across the shattered floor.
Both fell to their knees, coughing up blood, their bodies shaking from exhaustion and pain.
Then, something unnatural began to happen. Slowly, a tear in space appeared—first one, then another, then another until four gaping rifts flickered open across different corners of the coliseum.
“Wh…what is going on?!” a student shouted, voice trembling as everyone stared in sheer horror at the forming tears.
Within moments, the rips in space widened and merged into a single massive portal—dark, swirling, and radiating a suffocating, deathly aura that made the air itself feel heavier.
The second Thalos laid eyes on it, every hair on his body rose. His instincts screamed danger. He shot to his feet, pale and breathless.
“A… a portal break?!” Kent muttered in disbelief, his voice barely a whisper.
“Oh crap. We’re doomed,” Thalos mumbled under his breath, his heart pounding wildly. “Only a god can save us now.”
