Chapter 585: You were saying?

Chapter 585

“I guess he doesn’t need my help in this fight.” Thalos muttered as he stood up after regaining enough energy to move. Without saying another word, he turned around and walked off the platform willingly.

“Come on, let’s move so we don’t get caught up in their storm.” Jared called out as he turned to look at Finral, who had his hands clenched tightly, teeth grinding back and forth.

Bam!

His fist shot forward, smashing into Jared’s face with so much force that the student crashed onto his butt, groaning in pain.

“What was that for?!” Jared angrily shouted, clutching his face.

“I’ve been meaning to punch your face for what you did to Grey, and now I finally got the chance. Now let’s get down.” Finral replied with a deep frown as he leaped off the platform.

“F**k you!” Jared roared as he also leaped off the platform, barely in time as another shockwave burst out. This one was even stronger, sweeping through the coliseum like a raging storm.

The air trembled, and the unconscious descendants lying nearby were struck by the wave, their bodies jolting as they groaned awake.

“H…huh? Wh…what happened?” Noelle asked weakly, holding her head as she struggled to stand up.

“What happened?” Mada echoed groggily, looking just as confused. But before they could even gather their bearings, another shockwave erupted, slamming into them and forcing their eyes open fully.

Both of them quickly looked up, their eyes widening in disbelief as they saw the battlefield before them. Rivock and Grey were locked in a furious exchange of blows, their movements a blur of light, Ki, and lightning.

“R…Rivock is struggling against Grey? How is this possible?!” Noelle shouted, her voice trembling in shock.

‘I…I’m unable to keep up. Their movements are so fast that my eyes hurt just trying to follow them. Did Grey grow stronger or what?!’ Mada thought, furrowing his brows as memories of his earlier clash with Grey resurfaced.

That fight had been tough, but compared to what he was witnessing now, it was nothing. Grey felt like a completely different person.

_

Back at the fight, Grey had just been flung aside like a ragdoll after his foot collided with Rivock’s in a thunderous explosion of power.

He tumbled violently across the ground for several seconds before coming to a hard stop, the stone beneath him cracking from the force.

Click. Click. Click.

Footsteps echoed ominously across the platform, drawing closer. Rivock’s silhouette emerged through the settling dust, his figure calm but menacing, while Grey twitched on the ground, trying desperately to stand. Luckily for him, his legs hadn’t shattered completely, thanks to the thin layer of Ki coating them.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk. What a pity. He talks big, but when it’s time to deliver, he lays there weakly.” Rivock taunted, his voice dripping with disdain as he suddenly smashed his foot straight into Grey’s abdomen.

The impact sent a violent tremor through Grey’s body, forcing him to cough out blood as he was sent skidding a few inches away.

“In this world, warriors are divided by stages.” Rivock lectured as he slowly walked over, his tone now carrying a hint of superiority. “Stage 1 are the weakest, followed by Stage 2—which is where you stand.”

He paused, glaring down at Grey, who was still on the ground.

“Then we have Stages 3, 4, and 5, and then comes Stage 6—where I stand. Just below Stage 7, which all vice clan masters are expected to reach. And you think you could defeat me? Even with your puny, shockingly new abilities, you think you had a chance against me?!” he thundered, slamming his foot down toward Grey once again.

But this time, Grey moved faster. With Ki coursing through his veins and surging into his hands, his arm shot forward, grabbing Rivock’s foot mid-strike and halting it completely.

His face burned with determination as veins popped along his arm. Without hesitation, he yanked the foot hard, almost toppling Rivock to the ground. The direct descendant barely managed to flip backward and land on his knees, panting heavily.

Lightning began crackling violently around Grey, dancing along his arms and shoulders as he blitzed forward toward the kneeling Rivock. Around his knuckles, something powerful—something dangerous was beginning to form.

A pair of lightning gauntlets began to take shape, crackling with raw energy. Without warning, Grey bashed them straight into Rivock’s jaws with such crushing force that, for the first time during the fight, a mouthful of blood burst out of the descendant’s mouth. His hair fizzled up wildly, and in the next second, his body went hurling into the air like a ragdoll.

“You speak too much,” Grey said coldly as wind whipped around his feet. Without wasting a second, he shot into the air like a bird of prey, his speed unreal as he appeared directly above Rivock. “Go down and eat dust!” he added coolly.

Wind, lightning, and Ki wrapped around his hands as he hammered them straight into Rivock’s abdomen. The impact was brutal—the descendant crashed into the ground in a blink, kicking up a violent storm of dust and debris.

The ground caved in instantly where he hit, leaving a massive crater as Grey dove back down toward where Rivock lay. In the twinkle of an eye, he was already upon him.

“You hit as soft as a pillow,” Rivock said coldly, his expression unshaken. He held out his palm toward the diving Grey, and almost instantly, a bright Ki beam shot out of it at full speed.

“Shit!” Grey muttered, crossing his arms over his face just in time. The beam smashed into his guard, hurling him out of the air and nearly slamming him into the ground.

But he flipped midair, landing on his knees as he skidded across the dirt for a few feet. His arms burned from where the beam struck, the flesh searing and throbbing with pain.

Before he could recover, Rivock appeared directly in front of him, Ki encasing his fists so tightly that they glowed like molten gauntlets. Then…

BAM!

His punch crashed into Grey’s face, smashing his head into the ground with a sickening crack. A tooth flew out along with a splatter of blood. Part of Grey’s head split open, blood spilling freely as he lay motionless in the caved ground.

“I’m not taking chances again,” Rivock muttered as he crouched and grabbed Grey by the hair. Ki began to spill from his palms, seeping into the Supreme Magus’ scalp like fire eating through paper.

“You made the wrong decision crossing my path. Now you’ll have your head blown to bits. Tsk, tsk, tsk… goodbye, Grey—or whatever you called yourself before. It doesn’t matter!” Rivock shouted the last part, his tone sharp after whispering the earlier words in Grey’s ear.

With a grunt, he lifted Grey with one hand and hurled him five meters into the air, preparing his fingers together, ready to end it.

Feeling the pressure pressing against his face, Grey’s eyes slowly fluttered open. The blinding sun burned down on him, and a searing pain crawled across his scalp. Then the whisper replayed in his head—Rivock’s threat.

‘H-he wants to blow my head up? I’m about to die?! He wants to kill me?! NO! I can’t die! I won’t die!’

“ARGHHHH!” Grey roared as sparks of lightning fizzing around his fingers grew fierce, violent, and wild. His eyes turned pure white as his hair floated above his shoulders. The air trembled around him.

He roared again…

BOOOOM!

Waves of lightning shot down from the sky, slamming into him with such brilliance that the entire coliseum blazed like a sunburst. Everyone was forced to shield their eyes, even Rivock. When the light finally dimmed, gasps filled the arena.

“Shit! Rivock!” Mada shouted in panic.

All around the direct descendant, two hundred lightning arrows had formed, pointing at him from every direction. Grey hovered in the air, glowing faintly, a confident smile forming on his face.

“You were saying?” he asked.
