Chapter 580: Clean Save!

Chapter 580

“Lightning Whiplash!” he called out, and then…

BANG!

An ear-shattering explosion thundered across the arena as Grey blasted off from where he stood, completely shattering the ground beneath him. The air around him crackled violently, his body blurring into a streak of raw lightning as he bolted toward Mada like an unleashed tempest.

Mada froze, utterly stunned. The speed the Supreme Magus had just displayed was far beyond what his eyes could track.

“Feel the Supreme Magus’ Wrath!” Grey roared, his voice echoing with dominance. With a single swing of his sword, three consecutive booms ripped through the air as the blade elongated, lightning surging around it like a living serpent. In a flash, it whipped out and coiled violently around the direct descendant, binding him with crushing force.

Mada screamed as the whip lifted him high into the air before slamming him down with such terrifying impact that the ground caved in instantly. The platform shattered in that spot, collapsing into a crater while the rest remained barely intact as both combatants hit the ground with thunderous force.

The lightning energy coursing through the weapon was so immense that Mada’s body convulsed uncontrollably. Within seconds, he was completely paralyzed—his body stiffened and consciousness faded into darkness.

The entire crowd went dead silent. No one dared breathe too loud. The display of power they had just witnessed was beyond comprehension.

“That seals it,” Orion muttered, a frown creasing his face. “He is really a Cromwell. That technique belongs to them.”

‘I’m not done with you yet,’ Grey thought with a dangerous grin as the lightning around his body slowly began to fade.

His Ki reserves were nearly empty, yet surprisingly, his mana remained full—brimming with energy. Calmly, he strode toward Mada, whose body lay sprawled on the shattered platform, blood dripping from his mouth.

‘The female descendant’s already been knocked off, so I can’t take hers. But you and that devilish Rivock will do just fine,’ Grey mused darkly.

He crouched beside Mada and focused. Instantly, he could sense it—the faint movement of Ki within Mada’s body. Without hesitation, Grey pressed his palm against the man’s abdomen, feeling the flow of energy being drawn out, seeping slowly into his own body.

“Wh… what’s he doing?!” Sera gasped as she leaned forward, trying to get a better look. Grey’s body blocked most of her view since he’d angled himself to hide his actions from the leaders’ eyes.

“Who knows?” Leo shrugged, turning his attention back to Rivock’s fight.

‘No…’ Orion’s expression darkened, his fingers twitching. ‘That movement just now—yes, he’s using a Cromwell breathing technique. But something feels… off. The Cromwells channel Ki to form their techniques, yet his feels raw. Almost like… mana?’

‘Could it be? Or am I just imagining things? Let’s see… but why’s he doing that to an unconscious Mada?’

‘Yes!’ Grey thought as his eyes gleamed faintly. ‘I can feel his Ki flowing into me, refilling my Dantian. Damn, I don’t even know where this ability came from, but it’s useful as hell. I just don’t know if it’s temporary or permanent.’

His satisfaction quickly shifted to alarm when he noticed something strange—the aura around Mada was fading fast. His eyes widened in realization, and he instantly pulled his hand away, standing up straight.

‘Fuck! Good thing I stopped when I did, or he’d have died from me siphoning too much Ki. If that happened, those old geezers up there would’ve had my head before I could even blink,’ he thought, clenching and unclenching his fists with a sly grin spreading across his face.

‘I’m close… so damn close to evolving into a Stage 3 warrior. I can feel it. All I need now is something bigger—something that’ll push me beyond my limits. Then I’ll ascend.’

He exhaled slowly, lightning flickering faintly across his skin, a quiet smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

‘Soon,’ he thought. ‘Very soon.’

“Instructor Kent, the platform where I and Mada stood shattered to the ground. Does that mean I’m out of the tournament?” Grey asked, a look of disappointment flashing across his face.

“Look down!” Kent barked sharply. Grey immediately did as told and noticed he was standing atop a large slab of the platform still floating slightly above the crater.

“You’re technically still on the platform,” Kent continued. “So go and take care of Rivock.”

‘Perfect.’ Grey’s lips curved into a wide grin as lightning crackled faintly around his boots. He leaped upward, landing on another section of the arena near Finral, Ray, and Jared, who had been watching both his and Rivock’s battles unfold.

“Damn! Who knew you were that strong?” Ray said with a tired grin, sweat dripping down his temple. “You actually went toe to toe with Mada and not only held your own, but beat him! That’s insane. The same Mada who used to beat the hell out of you back then.”

Grey tilted his head slightly, his expression unreadable. “And it took four of you to defeat Noelle, huh?” he replied, his smirk widening just a bit. “I’m honestly surprised you even pulled it off. I was already thinking of how I’d have to jump in and save you all.”

As he spoke, movement from the side caught his attention. A familiar pair of boots shifted nervously on the cracked platform. His gaze sharpened, and his expression instantly darkened.

“G… Grey, I just w…” Jared started, voice trembling slightly.

“Save it.” Grey coldly said as lightning crackled around his fingers fiercely but he quickly controlled it luckily, nobody noticed.

“I will still take my revenge for the humiliation and betrayal you gave to me that day so always watch your back because I can stab you in the back like you did me but the difference would be that mine would be literal and lethal.” He delivered his words with such intensity that the aura radiating off him was so fierce that Jared’s throat went dry, and he audibly gulped.

“Oh shit!” Ray suddenly shouted, eyes widening in alarm.

“Huh? What happened?” Grey asked, frowning as he turned to Ray only to see him pointing behind.

Grey spun around just in time to see Rivock slam Thalos into the ground with brutal force. The gargoyle’s stone skin cracked as Rivock raised his hand, forming a Ki sword shimmering with deadly light.

“Got to go,” Grey said simply, his voice calm yet sharp.

Lightning began to roar around his feet, sparking violently as wind coiled around him in a mini-storm. In the next instant…

BOOM!

A thunderclap tore through the air as Grey vanished, leaving behind a faint trail of electricity. He reappeared instantly in front of Rivock, his own sword flashing up to meet the descending Ki blade.

Their weapons clashed in a blinding burst of light, and the collision unleashed a massive gust of wind that blasted out in every direction, shaking the entire coliseum.

Dust swirled around them, and the crowd could only stare as the Supreme Magus stood firm, his lightning dancing wildly against Rivock’s Ki.
