Magus Supremacy - Chapter 576
Chapter 576: Using Fifty Percent!
Chapter 576
“What?!” Selene shouted as she shot out of her seat in disbelief. Her jaw clenched tightly, her eyes wide open in pure shock. She had just witnessed her daughter—Noelle, a direct descendant get defeated by the yellow bands of all people.
“Kek! And she calls my son weak.” Rowen chuckled loudly, his laughter echoing through the arena until it turned into a full-blown cackle.
‘Ho…how did Noelle lose?! She was clearly getting the upper hand a moment ago, so how come she suddenly lost? What’s happening here?!’ Selene thought, her mind spiraling as she completely ignored Rowen’s mocking comment.
Her sharp gaze stayed glued to the arena, fixed solely on Ray, who lay on the ground face-flat, huffing and panting as sweat poured down his face.
‘That gauntlet… it made use of strange powers. Lightning ability?! That must have been what stunned Noelle, paralyzing her for a moment. Where in the world did he get those gauntlets?’ she wondered with furrowed brows, her teeth grinding back and forth audibly as anger surged inside her chest.
“How dare he hurt my kid?!” Selene growled furiously. The whip strapped around her waist began vibrating with a faint but dangerous hum as she glared daggers at Ray lying motionless on the arena floor.
“This is a tournament, Selene. Getting hurt is inevitable. As long as she isn’t dead, it’s fine. Calm yourself down before you do something reckless,” Orion quickly intervened, his tone calm but firm.
‘Fine, for now… I’ll keep quiet.’ She took a deep breath and sat back down with a deep frown still plastered on her face, her arms crossed as she watched the other battles unfold below.
Meanwhile, Kent—who had also been watching Noelle’s defeat couldn’t contain the excitement bubbling inside him.
‘Yes! We… we can actually salvage this situation! My goal was for them to push the direct descendants hard enough to make them use half their power, but if they can actually defeat them, this will be a massive win for me.’ He grinned widely, pride swelling in his chest as the other students began cheering and jumping up and down in disbelief.
They couldn’t rush into the arena to help Ray and the others since they were still considered active participants. All they could do was watch and celebrate from the sidelines, silently hoping the trio could hold on.
“W…we actually did it, huh?!” Jared muttered in disbelief as he pushed himself up, his body trembling as he walked over to Finral, who had a deep scowl on his face.
Ray, after lying still for several seconds, managed to drag himself up as well, his entire body drenched in sweat. He was completely drained, every ounce of Ki spent, and could barely keep his balance.
“Good job, guys,” Jared commented with a tired but genuine smile.
“We aren’t friends,” Finral muttered sharply, his voice edged with irritation.
“Oh come on!” Jared groaned, throwing his hands up in exasperation.
“Exactly,” Ray added with a cold frown. “What you did to someone who was only helping you was wrong—completely unacceptable. You betrayed Grey and cost him his spot in this tournament.”
“Tsk.” Jared clicked his tongue and turned around with a glare. “Wasn’t interested in making friends with any of you anyway.”
“Good,” Finral muttered, scanning the battlefield for the next threat. His eyes widened almost instantly. “Duck!”
“Huh?!” Ray muttered, confused, and looked up just in time for his own eyes to widen in alarm. “Shit!”
The three of them instantly dove to the ground as a massive, visible shockwave tore through the air where they had stood moments ago. The pressure rippled across the platform, cracking the tiles. If they hadn’t ducked, that single blast would have hurled them clean off the stage.
With thumping hearts, they looked in the direction where the shockwave had come from, and there, they could see Rivock and Pink (Thalos) exchanging blow after blow, each impact sending violent shockwaves rippling through the air.
__
BOOOM!
A massive shockwave erupted as both warriors clashed swords, creating an immense gust of wind that tore through the platform.
Rivock and Thalos were locked on each other, teeth gritted as their blades pressed against one another, sparks flying with every ounce of strength they poured in. Then, almost simultaneously, they both leaped back. In an instant, Thalos bolted forward like a crimson blur.
In the blink of an eye, he appeared right before the direct descendant. Without hesitation, his sword streaked through the air in a deadly arc, aiming to cleave Rivock clean in two. But the descendant was fast, faster than expected.
Rivock launched himself high into the air, causing Thalos’ sword to strike the ground with a thunderous BOOM, the force rippling outward like a heatwave.
Right above Thalos, Rivock didn’t hesitate. He swung his sword vertically, unleashing a massive Ki slash that cut through the air with terrifying precision. The slash descended toward Thalos, who swiftly leaped back, letting the attack crash into the ground and cleave it open, sending debris flying in every direction.
A cloud of dust erupted, and Rivock took advantage of it immediately. Dashing straight into the haze, he reappeared right in front of Thalos, his sword sweeping upward from below, slicing through the dust as it dispersed.
But Thalos was gone.
The next moment, a presence flared behind Rivock. His instincts screamed. He spun around instantly, but it was too late. A solid kick came flying straight at him, and he barely managed to bring his sword up to block it.
BAM!
The kick collided with immense force, the ground beneath them shattering as shockwaves tore outward. The direct descendant was sent skidding backward, his heels digging deep trenches into the cracked surface before he finally steadied himself.
He regained his stance just in time to see Thalos’ blade slicing through the air, stopping mere inches away from his throat.
“You’re fast, alright,” Rivock said with a sharp grin. “But there’s a reason I’m a direct descendant and considered a beast.”
Almost instantly, a strange structure formed beneath his feet, like a pulsating platform of Ki. It launched him into the air like a living trampoline.
Thalos’ sword hit nothing but air with a deafening BANG, and while airborne, Rivock swung his sword again. This time, the slash was massive, cutting through the air at terrifying speed.
‘Shit! Too fast!’ Thalos thought as he tried to pivot aside, but it was too late.
The slash smashed into him with brutal force, sending his body skidding across the ground for several meters before he finally crashed to a stop.
“Congratulations,” Rivock said, grinning wickedly. “You’ve just made me use fifty percent of my strength.”
Then, with a sharp snap of his fingers…
BOOOM!
An explosion tore through the air as Rivock activated his clan’s signature technique, Exploding Ki. The blast sent a shockwave that engulfed Thalos completely, lifting him off his feet. Blood spurted from his chest as he was hurled backward, his body spinning uncontrollably before crashing into the ground.
