Chapter 575: A Gift that came in handy!

Chapter 575

CLAP!

BANG!

BOOOM!

A deafening clap followed by a thunderous bang echoed out as Finral’s palms struck each other, and the shockwave from the impact was more than enough to lift Noelle off her feet, make her cough out blood, and hurl her several metres away into the air.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Noelle crashed down and came to a halt, clutching her abdomen in pain while trying to rise up. But before she could properly recover, Ray appeared directly in front of her with an uppercut aimed straight at her chin.

She immediately tilted her head to the side, narrowly avoiding the uppercut, and then without hesitation, smashed her palm straight into his abdomen.

“A little gift,” she muttered coldly.

BOOOM!

An invisible Ki beam exploded from her palm and smashed into his abdomen, causing him to spit out blood as his body went tumbling backwards like a rag doll.

Noelle slowly rose to her feet, her chest heaving in and out heavily. The same went for the others, all of them panting as their bodies trembled from exhaustion.

Their chests burned as the last of their Ki reserves dwindled rapidly, and it became painfully clear that they would soon run out of energy completely.

“I got to give it to you all,” Noelle muttered with a small smirk as she cracked her whip and straightened it with a sharp flick. “You actually managed to push me back more than I expected, which is shocking. But it still doesn’t change the fact that you’re all too weak to harm even a hair on my body!”

Zoom!

She zipped forward at full speed. Jared dashed out to intercept her, but her whip lashed out like lightning, slamming into his abdomen and digging deep enough to draw blood that splattered across the tiles.

Before she could follow up, Finral—now without his sword, appeared beside her, his leg shooting out in a powerful roundhouse kick. But she leaped back, avoiding the strike that smashed into the air and cracked the ground.

‘Twenty seconds left,’ Next up was Ray, who appeared behind her in a flash. Springing from the ground like a rocket, his feet crashed into her back with brutal force, sending her tumbling forward violently.

Liam was already waiting in front of her tumbling form, sword thrusting toward her abdomen with precision.

She tried to pivot aside to dodge, but the sword still struck, tearing through her fabric and grazing her skin enough to draw droplets of blood.

‘He shed my blood? A peasant shed my blood? Unacceptable!’ she roared inwardly as rage flooded her face. She immediately smashed her foot straight into Liam’s abdomen with all the Ki she could muster.

The one-eyed student’s pupil widened so much it looked like it might pop out of its socket. His mouth opened as blood surged up his throat, and he coughed it out violently before being sent flying several metres away.

In fact, he was hurled completely off the platform and onto the bare ground below. That meant he was out of the tournament, leaving the remaining trio standing there, completely stunned.

“Who’s ne…” she started to ask while turning around, only for her words to be cut short as Finral’s fist came flying toward her face, followed by a stab from Jared’s sword.

Her whip instantly reacted, coiling around Jared’s blade and halting it with a loud metallic clang. At the same time, she leaned her head back just in time to avoid Finral’s punch.

Then, in one smooth motion, she swung her whip, hurling Jared directly into Finral and sending both of them crashing away like bowling pins.

‘Damn it! Are we really going to lose here?’ Ray gritted his teeth as frustration built up inside him. ‘We’re already down one man. What the hell can we do now?’

He clenched his fists in anger and was about to place his hands on his head when his eyes caught sight of the pair of gauntlets wrapped around his wrists—the very ones Grey had given him.

Instantly, Grey’s voice echoed in his head, the words that came with those gauntlets replaying vividly…

«Don’t ask me questions because I’m not going to answer you. I’m giving these to you, and if you ever find yourself in immense danger that you can’t punch your way out of, charge them with your Ki and smear your blood on them. Then wait for it to take effect.»

Those were Grey’s exact words.

‘Charge it with Ki and smear it with blood, huh?’ Ray thought to himself as his eyes darted up to see Finral and Jared tag-teaming against Noelle, trying to hold her off.

“Damn it! What more can I lose here?” he mumbled under his breath, his teeth clenched. Without hesitation, he focused all his remaining Ki straight into the gauntlets.

While doing that, he drew his blade slightly and sliced open a line on his forearm. Blood flowed instantly, and he smeared it across both gauntlets. Almost immediately, they lit up—not too brightly, but enough to make the ground beneath him vibrate faintly. For a single second, everything went silent, then…

Crackle! Crackle! Crack! Sizzle!

Lightning began to arc across his gauntlets, crawling up and down like chains of blue fire. A wide grin spread across his exhausted face. His eyes shimmered with determination, sparks reflecting off them as if they shared the same energy that surged through his body.

Then…

BAM!

Finral was sent flying with blood spraying from his mouth, his body twisting in the air before crashing onto the platform.

“Shit!” Ray cursed sharply. There was no time to admire the gauntlets or the electricity sparking across his body. He dashed forward instantly, every step exploding with speed. He knew he had just five seconds left before the effects of the pill wore off.

‘What does lightning do?’ he thought quickly. ‘It electrocutes, right? Then that’s exactly what I’ll do!’

Noelle noticed his sudden charge and immediately sent her whip flying at him. The air cracked violently as it approached.

Ray ducked low, the whip slicing through the air above him. “Cover me!” he shouted.

Even though both Finral and Jared were battered and drained of Ki, they didn’t hesitate. They threw themselves forward, blocking the whip’s path as it tried to curl back toward Ray. Every clash against it sent vibrations across the field, but they held on long enough.

Ray was already in front of Noelle. She noticed too late. With fury, she swung her fist toward him, but using every ounce of his boosted speed, Ray pivoted sharply to the side, avoiding it by the skin of his teeth.

And then—it happened.

The pill’s effect wore off, but right at that very moment, Ray’s hands—still covered in lightning-coated gauntlets shot out and gripped Noelle tightly by the shoulders.

Zzzzzzzzt!

An ear-piercing shriek escaped her mouth as lightning erupted wildly from his hands, electrocuting her repeatedly. Sparks scattered across her body as her muscles twitched uncontrollably, her eyes wide in disbelief.

Not wanting to kill her, Ray leaped backward, releasing his grip. Noelle stood frozen in place, her entire body trembling, hair standing on end, the scent of burnt ozone filling the air.

But Ray didn’t let the moment slip away. Gathering every last drop of Ki left in his body, he clenched his lightning-charged fist and hurled it forward with all his strength.

BANG!

BAM!

His punch connected straight with her abdomen. The deafening impact sent shockwaves rippling across the arena. Noelle’s body was lifted off the platform and hurled backward, crashing through the barrier and into the crowd of participants.

The arena went silent for a heartbeat, and then…

Ray stood there, panting heavily, before his knees gave way. Finral and Jared collapsed beside him, all three falling to the ground in unison, completely spent but victorious.

‘We… we did it,’ Ray thought weakly as his vision blurred. ‘We defeated a direct descendant. A red band…’

He managed a tired grin. ‘Thank you, Grey.’

The last thing he felt was the faint warmth of the gauntlets on his hands losing their spark—literally.
