Magus Supremacy - Chapter 574
Chapter 574: Flip the script!
Chapter 574
Mada and Grey’s clash was so intense… In fact, every single battle raging across the arena was so fierce that the crowd didn’t even know which one to focus on anymore.
They had never expected that a bunch of yellow bands would actually be able to keep the direct descendants on their toes. Though none of them had managed to push those elites to go all out yet, they were getting dangerously close.
One of those standouts was Mada, who had completely lost himself to rage.
He suddenly shot out an invisible Ki blast from his palm.
BAM!
It connected with Grey’s gut, sending spit flying from his mouth as he went bouncing backward across the platform.
“Crap,” the Supreme Magus muttered as he stabbed his sword into the ground, bringing his sliding body to a stop. His eyes locked on the direct descendant, who was already rising to his feet with a murderous expression.
“What happened? Getting slow all of a sudden?” Mada grinned wickedly as Ki blazed around his feet. The ground beneath him cracked and split wider under the intense pressure.
Without hesitation, he burst forward like a blur, appearing mere inches away from Grey with his sword already swinging toward the Supreme Magus’ head.
“First Formation: Gust of the Wind,” Grey called out inwardly as he thrust his sword forward.
BANG!
A huge gust of wind shot out, fast and sharp, slicing through the air toward the incoming descendant. But Mada’s instincts kicked in.
He abruptly halted, slammed one foot into the ground, and pivoted on the other, barely dodging the incoming attack. The blast smashed into the ground where he had stood, creating a massive crater.
“That won’t work on me…” Mada began, but his words froze on his tongue when he spun around and found Grey already in front of him, grinning.
BAM!
A powerful punch slammed into Mada’s gut, forcing spit from his mouth as his body was hurled several meters away like a ragdoll.
Not wanting to give him a moment to recover, Grey blitzed forward, lightning crackling around his feet. In an instant, he was above Mada, his sword raised high.
‘Wind Slash!’ he roared inwardly.
WOOOSH!
A huge, visible arc of compressed wind burst from his sword and shot toward Mada’s head.
The descendant immediately spun aside, barely avoiding it as the blade of wind grazed his cheek, drawing a thin line of blood before smashing into the space he’d just been in with a thunderous bang.
Orion—the principal, whose sharp eyes scanned every battlefield raised an eyebrow in visible confusion as he studied the strange technique Grey had unleashed.
‘Huh? Why does that seem so familiar? That wasn’t Ki-based, and it definitely isn’t part of the Cromwell’s technique. But… that energy feels like something I’ve sensed before. What exactly is that?’ he thought with a deep crease forming between his brows.
“You can’t replace me!” Mada roared, veins bulging across his forehead as he crouched low and exploded forward. In the blink of an eye, he appeared right in front of Grey, who was still midair.
“You’re just a peasant!” he bellowed, slamming a Ki-filled punch straight into the Supreme Magus’ abdomen before Grey could react, sending him crashing out of the sky and slamming violently into the ground below.
The impact echoed like a clap of thunder. Dust and debris shot up as the crowd gasped in disbelief at the sheer brutality of the exchange.
“Ack!” Grey coughed out specks of blood as he tried to steady himself.
‘Looks like he’s getting faster and I’m getting slower. Damn it! It’s all because of this damned weight! I want to pull them off, but this bastard isn’t giving me the chance to!’ he thundered inwardly.
Just like he thought, Mada was already in front of him, swinging his sword from the side with murderous intent.
The swing was met by Grey’s blade, and a powerful gust of wind exploded in all directions. But Mada didn’t relent. His sword kept moving at terrifying speed, almost like a blur, keeping the Supreme Magus on his toes.
It wasn’t easy, not one bit. With every strike, Mada poured more power and speed into his attacks, pushing Grey further to the edge. Slowly, the Supreme Magus began to lag behind.
He was getting slower, his movements heavier, his body screaming in protest. More and more strikes began to connect— a slash across his cheek, another cutting through his arm. His once-clean shirt was now shredded from a deadly strike that barely missed his vitals.
This brutal exchange went on for several minutes. Mada roared and swung with unrestrained fury, while Grey, though battered, remained calm— blocking and evading only the lethal blows.
Kent, who was watching from the sidelines, was tense beyond belief. His palms were sweaty, his heart pounding as he watched the chaos unfold along with the other participants and Albed.
‘Come on! It’s already a miracle that this squad managed to survive against the direct descendants for this long. And out of all of them, only Mada is going all out from the start. It’s shocking that Grey’s still keeping up… but how long till he breaks?’ Kent thought nervously.
‘Hmph. This agent is quite strong,’ Albed thought with a small frown on her face, eyes locked on Grey’s battered form.
After several more exchanges of rapid swings and furious curses, Mada finally leaped back to admire his handiwork. Grey stood there— panting, bleeding, his body trembling slightly from the damage he’d sustained. Blood trickled from his wounds, pooling beneath his feet. His head hung low, and Mada’s lips curled into a cruel smile.
“Though I wanted. and still want to kill you, I decided to make you suffer a little. And I’m proud of my makeover. Though, part of me wants to spare your life, which is why if you grovel at my feet right n…”
“You done?” Grey interrupted coldly, still panting, his head lowered.
“Huh?” Mada muttered, confused.
“I said,” Grey repeated, slowly lifting his head. The earlier smirk and playful grin were gone. In their place was a serious, hardened expression. “You done? Because I assure you, I’m just getting started.”
Thud. Thud. Thud.
In one swift motion and a flick of his wrist, the weights on his arms and feet slid off, hitting the ground with a heavy thud that cracked the floor beneath him.
Months ago, when Yami first gave him those weights, they each weighed around 200 kilograms. But as Grey grew stronger, their weight automatically increased, keeping up with his growth. And right now, the ones he’d just dropped weighed close to 400 kilograms combined.
As the weights fell, a rush of relief surged through his body. He felt lighter— faster, almost reborn. He began bouncing lightly from one foot to another, feeling his energy surge as Mada and the crowd stared in confusion.
Then, Mada’s eyes widened slightly. He couldn’t hear anything.
‘Wait… his footsteps. They’re too silent. I… I’m unable to hear anything.’
“How about we flip the script now?” Grey suggested with a small grin flashing across his face, and then…
FWIIISH!
He vanished from sight.
But he hadn’t teleported. He’d simply moved so fast that nobody— not even Mada could track his movement.
And the next second, he was already standing right beside Mada.
