Magus Supremacy - Chapter 571
Chapter 571: Childish Leaders!
Chapter 571
BAM!
BOOM!
A thunderous quake exploded outwardly, the ground beneath Thalos’ body shattered instantly as pink blood shot out of his mouth.
For the first time in his current form, a mere human had managed to hit Thalos straight into the ground.
After slamming him into the ground, Rivock didn’t even bat an eyelid. He simply spun around and began walking away casually, leaving the crowd stunned. The blue band who had been smashed into the ground was completely unmoving.
“Di… did he just kill him? How is that allowed?”
“What are the academy doing? He just killed his fellow student?”
“Or maybe he just knocked him unconscious. You all should stop overreacting.”
All these whispers didn’t concern Rivock as he was now five steps away from Thalos’ smashed body.
“Kek, Kek, Kek!”
A deep, menacing chuckle suddenly echoed out, causing everybody to turn their gaze toward the deep crater in the ground formed by Thalos’ smashed face.
And from it, he rose up — pink blood dripping down his forehead, unseen by the crowd but very visible to Rivock.
On hearing the chuckle, Rivock spun around with shock written all over his face, stunned at the fact that the student was seemingly fine and had shrugged off such a devastating attack.
“First time in ages… first time I bled from the hands of a human no less. Fascinating.” Thalos’ lips curled into a twisted grin as he straightened his back. “You really are strong, and it makes sense why Grey decided not to engage you and left you for me.”
Rivock frowned, confusion written all over his face.
‘What is he yapping about?’ he thought, narrowing his eyes.
“Which is why I ask you,” Thalos continued, his voice carrying a strange excitement as he banged his knuckles together. A pair of stony-looking gauntlets materialized around his hands, glowing faintly as cracks of light ran through them.
“Shall we go again? This time, properly.”
“Huh?” was all Rivock managed to say before…
BANG!
A thunderclap-like sound echoed as Thalos instantly blitzed from where he stood. In the twinkle of an eye, he appeared directly in front of Rivock with an uppercut aimed straight for his chin.
“Crap!” Rivock hissed beneath his breath as he quickly swirled Ki around his feet and leaped a meter away just in time. The gargoyle’s fist sliced through the air with a violent crack, missing him by inches.
‘Now I’m sure the academy made a mistake assigning this guy a color,’ Rivock thought, his jaw tightening. ‘He’s no blue band anymore. From now on, I’ll treat him like a red band. I’ll take this seriously.’
He bolted forward at immense speed, appearing directly in front of Thalos in a split second with a punch streaking toward the gargoyle’s face.
Thalos didn’t flinch, leap, or even move back. Instead, he swung his own fist forward, meeting Rivock’s blow with a deafening bang that sent shockwaves exploding in all directions.
The ground beneath their feet cracked violently, chunks of rock getting kicked up as the clash continued to intensify.
Kent couldn’t believe his eyes as his mouth hung agape, completely lost for words at the sheer power both fighters displayed.
‘Wh… who is this student? I don’t think I paid attention to the blue bands properly, but damn, he’s strong. He’s actually able to contend with Rivock? This is crazy! Who assigned him a band? Clearly, they made a mistake.’
“Impressive,” Rivock commented with a wide grin on his face, his tone carrying a hint of excitement. Without losing his rhythm, he instantly ducked low and swept his legs around in an attempt to take Thalos off his feet.
But as if he had sensed it earlier, Thalos reacted with equal speed, leaping a meter off the ground with such force that the spot he stood on cracked even deeper.
Now airborne, he didn’t waste a second. Twisting his body midair, he swung his leg downward in a devastating axe kick aimed directly at Rivock’s head.
The descendant barely managed to react, raising his hands above his head just in time to block.
BANG!
Another shockwave rippled through the ground as Thalos’ leg smashed into Rivock’s guard, the impact forcing Rivock’s knees to buckle. The ground beneath him split apart, the cracks deepening in all directions.
‘So… strong and heavy,’ Rivock grunted inwardly. Swirling Ki into his arms, he reinforced them and, with a powerful surge, threw Thalos off. The gargoyle flipped backward several times before landing smoothly on the ground with a thud.
Before Thalos could even regain balance, Rivock blurred forward again, appearing right in front of him and slamming a brutal punch straight into his gut.
BOOOM!
A massive burst of wind exploded outward as Thalos’ mouth puffed up, struggling to hold in the pain. His body lost control and was sent skidding backward more than five meters before he managed to dig his feet into the ground.
He hadn’t even fully stabilized when Rivock was already in the air above him again.
“Take that!” the descendant roared, whipping his leg outward and unleashing a crescent-shaped Ki slash that tore through the air toward Thalos.
The gargoyle slammed his feet into the ground, grinding himself to a halt. Without hesitation, he drew back his right arm and swung it forward with incredible force.
BOOOOM!
The air detonated as his fist struck the incoming slash dead center. The world seemed to freeze for a heartbeat—then, like fragile glass, the Ki attack shattered into bright yellow fragments, scattering everywhere before erupting into a violent gust that swept across the arena and forced the spectators on the lower levels to shield themselves.
The leaders observing from above exchanged glances, amusement and confusion flickering across their faces as their attention shifted from one duel to the next.
“Huh? Is it just me, or is Rivock getting weaker?” Selene mocked slyly, a wide grin tugging at her lips.
‘Hmph! These students we didn’t expect much from are actually putting up a decent fight against the direct descendants. How come?’ Leo thought, his brows furrowing slightly.
“Trust me,” Rowen growled, his voice low and edged with irritation, “if Rivock decided to get serious, he’d give even you a run for your money. So keep your bitchy mouth shut!” His left eye gleamed a dangerous shade of yellow for a brief moment.
“I’m starting to want you to make me shut up,” Selene shot back sharply, clapping her hands once as the air began to tremble around them. The pressure rose dramatically, sparks of Ki energy crackling faintly in the air.
Orion sighed deeply and facepalmed, choosing not to get involved in yet another of their petty squabbles. Instead, he focused his attention back on the battles raging below, watching as the chaos continued to unfold.
