Magus Supremacy - Chapter 500
Chapter 500: Furry dog down!
Chapter 500
“AHHHH!” Mada roared in anger as he swung his sword with all the strength he could muster, causing the beast to pivot and avoid the deadly strike.
But Rivock appeared exactly where it pivoted to, and without wasting a second, he swung his Ki longsword. The blade smashed into the beast with explosive force, sending it hurling several metres away before it crashed to the ground.
“Aerius.” Grey calmly called out, his tone sharp and steady as he pointed his palm forward, already standing behind the staggering beast.
The wind howled like a living spirit. In an instant, a thunderous bang echoed as a blast of compressed air slammed straight into the beast’s back, hurling it forward with crushing force.
“Mada!” Grey called again.
“Shut the hell up!” Mada roared back, bracing himself as the beast came flying directly toward him.
Infusing his sword with every ounce of Ki he could muster, Mada swung it upward from the ground in a vertical arc. An invisible Ki slash surged forth, cutting the air with a sharp hiss as it sped toward the beast.
But as if sensing the danger, the Lycan crossed its massive arms in an X shape, letting the slash crash against its body. A deafening bang resounded, but when the dust cleared, no damage could be seen on its hide.
Another roar tore through the air. Rivock suddenly appeared above the beast, swinging his foot down like a hammer, aiming to smash its head.
Growl!
The beast snarled savagely as it spun mid-motion, its fist colliding with Rivock’s foot. The impact was brutal. Rivock was slammed out of the air and thrown across the battlefield, his body bouncing once before he landed heavily.
The beast immediately charged at the weakened direct descendant, intent on finishing him.
‘Time to act.’ Noelle hyped herself up as her eyes narrowed. With a burst of speed, she darted forward, her body blurring. In the blink of an eye, her hand snatched up her whip lying a few metres away.
The Lycan was already within killing distance of Rivock when Noelle snapped her wrist. Her whip lashed through the air with a hiss, coiling tightly around the beast’s legs. The sheer momentum jolted to a stop, halting its attack.
“Ahhhhhhh!” Noelle roared, her face straining as Ki swirled around her arms and whip. With sheer determination, she yanked back. Her body trembled under the immense strength of the beast, but she managed to drag it an inch away from Rivock.
“Breathing Technique: First Formation!” Grey shouted as he bolted forward. His body felt lighter than air, as though the weights he once carried no longer held him back.
He leaped high, his sword glowing faintly. “Gust of the Wind!”
Bang!
A gunshot-like crack split the battlefield. The beast twisted, attempting to pivot away, but the attack pierced into its shoulder instead. The strike ripped through muscle, spraying foul black blood.
The Lycan howled in agony. Before it could recover, Noelle yanked her whip again and cracked it forward. The weapon shot toward its head with terrifying precision.
It raised its arms to shield itself, but at the last moment, the whip swerved, snaking sideways. It coiled into the beast’s ribs and dug deep, ripping open flesh and spilling blood.
“Rivock! When I say jump, leap with all your Ki and smash your feet into its guard!” Grey barked sharply.
The beast ripped the whip free, snarling louder than ever, when suddenly the atmosphere shifted. Around Grey, the air vibrated. His hair floated above his shoulders, caught in the invisible current.
What none of them could see immediately was the manifestation forming around him. Ten swords forged entirely from wind appeared above his head, each one hovering, spinning, and whistling with deadly intent.
Grey pointed his hand forward, his eyes glowing with determination. “Go.”
WOOSH!
The swords shot forward like arrows, tearing the air apart. The beast sensed the incoming danger and quickly raised its arms in an X again. The blades pierced deep into its guard, their invisible edges slicing into flesh.
“Now!” Grey’s shout rang across the battlefield.
Rivock’s feet flared with Ki, glowing a blazing yellow. He bent his knees, swirling power into his legs until the ground beneath him cracked. Then, like a cannon, he exploded upward. The impact was so fierce that a crater nearly ten metres deep formed where he once stood.
Launching high into the air, he smashed both feet into the beast’s crossed arms, slamming into the guard formed by the wind swords. The combined force ripped through the Lycan’s defense. The swords tore open its flesh, and Rivock’s devastating kick sent the monster flying backward.
Its body rippled like a broken wave as it was blasted through several houses, stone and wood crumbling in its wake.
“Woah! That was fun.” Rivock chuckled slightly, though his breathing was heavy.
The beast staggered back into view, its body mangled. Its forearms dripped with blood, its chest gaped open with gashes, and yet, even in that pitiful state, its glowing eyes burned with hatred.
It still refused to surrender, bolting forward once more.
Rivock just sighed, shaking his head with a grin. He raised his hand and snapped his fingers.
Immediately, an explosion boomed across the beast’s body as its arms were blown clean off. The severed limbs fell heavily to the ground, twitching as blood spurted wildly, forcing the Lycan to halt its charge in shock. It was suddenly, and completely, armless.
Rivock’s grin widened to the point that it nearly split his face in two. His lips curled back so far that it looked as though his cheeks might tear from the sheer madness in his expression.
The beast stood frozen for a moment, staring at its dismembered arms on the ground. Its gaping stumps spewed an immense amount of dark blood, and almost instantly, its already pitch-black eyes grew even darker. The pupils dilated further and further until the last trace of iris vanished.
“Damn it! It’s about to go berserk. We need to finish it now!” Rivock warned, his voice sharp with urgency.
But it was already too late. The beast had moved.
Its target? Grey. And its speed was staggering—so fast that it blurred, crossing the distance in the blink of an eye.
“Shit!” Rivock’s instincts screamed for him to move, but Grey quickly shook his head, steadying him with a glance.
“We need a huge explosion at eleven o’clock. Don’t worry about me!” Grey shouted back, his tone firm, just as the beast appeared in front of him.
With a snarl, the armless Lycan swung its leg like a massive hammer, aiming to crush him. Grey, aided by his wind magic, propelled himself backward in a sudden burst, the gust carrying him several feet away from the deadly strike.
He felt the air itself sharpen around him as Ki surged through his body, building in his legs and chest. Another kick whistled past him, and Grey pivoted hard to the side, narrowly avoiding the strike as dust and gravel erupted where the foot landed.
“Now!” Grey bellowed, his voice cracking under the strain. His Ki and mana had reached their boiling point, and his hands trembled uncontrollably with the sheer pressure of the energy gathered.
Rivock was already in position, his palms glowing with destructive brilliance, waiting for Grey’s signal. Sweat streamed down his forehead, but he held his stance, forcing all his remaining power into his arms.
‘This is all of my Ki. Please… let it be enough.’
BOOM!
“Triple Threat Burst!” Grey roared with everything he had. Blood erupted from his mouth, but he ignored the pain and the tearing sensation in his body. His fist slammed into the beast’s throat with brutal precision.
The ground cracked and shattered beneath them as the force lifted the monster clean off its feet. Its massive body was hurled violently through the air, flung directly toward Rivock’s waiting trap.
For a brief second, the black haze in its eyes faltered, its berserk state trembling. But it was too late.
The Lycan managed to skid to a halt right in front of Rivock, still trying to comprehend what had happened. Before it could react, Rivock surged forward. Blood dripped from his lips, but his determination only burned brighter.
He leaped high and slammed both hands directly onto the beast’s head.
The impact was devastating. The beast’s knees buckled under the crushing force, the ground beneath it fracturing like glass under a hammer. Its body convulsed in resistance, but without arms to counter or push away, it was helpless.
Rivock pushed off and retreated a metre back, coughing blood but grinning wildly. “Goodbye,” he whispered.
Snap.
Only then did the beast realize what had been done. A trickle of heat rolled down its head—then the world ended in fire.
BOOOOM!
A catastrophic explosion erupted from its skull, tearing the entire upper half of its body apart. Fur, bone, and flesh were blown to ash, leaving only its neck spurting torrents of blood in a grisly fountain.
The Lycan collapsed in ruin.
Rivock dropped heavily to his knees, exhausted and drenched in sweat, while Grey fell face-first into the dirt with a harsh thud. Only then did the beast’s lifeless body finally crash to the ground with a thunderous impact, signaling the true end of the battle.
