Ji-eun groaned softly, one hand pressing against her forehead as she slowly sat up, her brows knitted in confusion.
Min Yoonji coughed, blinking rapidly. Gideon and Daewon, still lying side by side, opened their eyes in near sync, their chests rising as breath returned to their lungs.
[System Notice]Forbidden Runes have been destroyed.[Dragon aggression levels adjusting… recalibrating behavior protocols…Result: Dragonkind will no longer display uncontrolled hostility. Intelligence has increased.]
The remaining dragons those who hadn’t been slain paused. Their snarls faded, eyes glowing faintly with something other than rage. Intelligence. Awareness. Some even looked confused, as if waking up from a deep, violent trance.
And just above them, a glowing timer appeared numbers slowly counting down, second by second.
[Final Stage begins in: 09:59]
A glowing sword, long and sleek, wrapped in silver runes, floated gently down from the clouds. It twirled in midair, then embedded itself into the cracked ground with a metallic ring.
Two figures slowly descended after it.
The first was a woman clad in dark crimson robes with golden embroidery, the symbol of a coiling serpent wrapped around a pagoda stitched over her chest.
Her hair was tied into a single braid, and in her eyes burned the kind of calm confidence only found in people who had seen war.
She’s the Guildmaster of Longxu. (Zhang Lihua)
Beside her, standing with quiet poise, was another woman. It’s Yuki Nakamura of Japan #1 Guild.
Zhang Lihua stepped forward and gently touched the floating sword, her hand barely brushing its surface. The sword trembled in response and then rose to hover behind her.
Yuki finally walked toward the where Hiroshi stood, The guildmaster. His expression was stern as always, but his eyes softened slightly upon seeing her.
Before he could speak, Alexa stepped forward, her voice rising with a mixture of relief and disbelief. “Yuki, you finally return.”
Yuki let out a deep breath, her shoulders relaxing. “We went to the forest… but something strange happened. We got trapped in an area surrounded by runes. The energy was unstable. Then, it exploded. We barely made it out.”
Beside her, Lihua, the woman who wore light armor and whose sharp gaze always scanned everything around her, raised her hand and spoke, her voice calm but serious.
“I saw several people destroy the runes… But—” Her sentence cut off as her eyes drifted toward a group standing not far.
Her fingers slowly pointed. “It’s her… It’s them”
Everyone turned in unison to where she pointed.
Standing there, seemingly untouched by the chaos around them, was a small girl.
Her presence gave off a calm aura, yet also something ancient and mysterious. Floating in the air near her was a boy—young, Near them stood strange companions, a humanoid pig and a lizardman with sharp eyes.
The Crown Prince stepped forward, He took a deep breath, then spoke clearly so all could hear.
“I would like everyone here to meet someone very important to our kingdom.”
“This is Miss Aelorie, A Spirit Elf.”
There were soft murmurs and gasps across the crowd. Some tilted their heads, confused. Others narrowed their eyes in recognition.
“She is not just any elf,” the prince added, letting his words linger. “She is the very being we have long called The Goddess—our protector… the guardian spirit of our kingdom.”
The girl, Aelorie, stood quietly, her small figure unassuming, but her presence unmistakably powerful.
“For generations, Miss Aelorie watched over our lands,” he said. “She shielded us from disaster and gave blessings to our people when we needed them most. Her name has lived in stories, in songs, and in every prayer whispered in the woods.”
He turned to the girl now, bowing his head slightly. “Three years ago, she vanished without a trace. Many feared we had lost her forever.”
The prince looked back at them. “But now she is here again. Alive. With us.”
He gave a small smile. “And I ask that you offer her the respect she deserves—not just as a legend, but as someone real… someone who once protected us from the shadows.”
He raised his hand gently in her direction. “Our Goddess of the Glade, returned at last.”
The young boy, Grimzark floating in the air, his arms crossed with a skeptical look, tilted his head and asked casually, “Why are you in child form anyway?”
Aelorie blinked once, her expression still calm, though her lips curved into a slight frown.
“It’s because of the forest,” she said softly. “The cursed forest…Drained me, I had to take this form to preserve what little strength I had left.”
A murmur spread among the adventurers again, but before anyone else could speak, the boy smirked and shrugged.
“If you say so, Grandma.”
Aelorie narrowed her eyes. “I’m not that old.”
The boy floated lower, waving a hand lazily. “You’ve been around for a few centuries at least. You’re ancient to me.”
“I’ve raised saplings wiser than you.”
“Well, I’m not a tree.”
The Crown Prince cleared his throat with a smile tugging at his lips, stepping in before the two could continue.
“Let’s take this time to rest,” he said.
But even then, eyes wandered to a figure standing quietly.
Beside Lauren, a young man was speaking in a low voice, his expression relaxed, unbothered by the weight of what had just occurred And yet, his presence was impossible to ignore.
Someone nudged their friend and whispered, “Isn’t that… the newest S-rank from Korea?”
“S-rank?” another replied in disbelief, keeping their voice low. “No way.”
“You see what happened earlier, right?” a third voice joined in. “He! he defeated the Shadow Dragon! Alone.”
Then someone said, “That wasn’t just an S-rank feat. He should be more than that!”
“But that’s impossible,” another murmured, as if saying it out loud would somehow make it less real. “S-rank is the highest. There’s no ‘more’ than that.”
“But you saw it, what he did. That dragon wasn’t even given a chance.”
They all turned again, now openly staring.
