Chapter 306: Kyle’s New Family! [FIXED!]

Calista was enjoying her night, and she hadn’t been on the internet for quite some time because she knew it would keep her distracted from her meditation.

She knew Kyle was using her for her body and was fine with that as long as the benefits kept coming, but what was this?

Why was she feeling uneasy when the thought of him with other women crossed her mind?

The fact that some were able to get versions of him shouldn’t hurt her ego.

The world told Calista that she could get everything she wanted because she had the looks.

This was something Kyle had constantly debunked with his behaviour, because there was nothing she did that could win him over the way she wanted.

She wanted that version of him so she could tell herself she was enough, but then she flicked on the internet at last.

The first thing she noticed was her phone buzzing like crazy as it was flooded with notifications.

Calista had no idea what was happening, but this is what happens when she decides to stay offline for 24 hours.

“The hell…!?” Calista’s eyes widened in shock the moment she noticed there was something online about her that put her in a compromising position.

Calista panicked right away because Kyle made his rules clear, and she had already lied to him once.

Even if it wasn’t what it looked like, the base trust was gone already, and this would only worsen it.

She frantically checked to see if Kyle had texted her and saw no messages from him.

“Maybe he didn’t see it…” Calista tried to console herself, but there was no way he wouldn’t have seen it, considering it involved his top talent.

And with the movie premiere doing the numbers it did, they were trending more than they ever had, and while this helped their marketing, as the fanbase already did their math,

There was only one logical conclusion to any of this: Lorenzo.

Lorenzo was with her all through, and if anything, that should spark some sort of romance between them.

They thought the real world operated like the ones they saw on television.

Calista knew this might be the end of whatever she had with Kyle — and that made her scared out of her mind.

But there was one person she could direct her rage at, and it was the woman who had posted it in the first place.

Calista barged out of her home and charged toward the woman responsible for all of this.

She needed a source for her rage and had her target right down the street, and she was about to give her a piece of her mind.

However, the woman wasn’t home — not everyone had the luxury of staying home 24/7.

Calista knew nothing about her, and this was an outcome she didn’t even think was possible.

Every second Kyle didn’t call or text her only increased her anxiety.

Calista had to call Isabella because she didn’t know if there would be consequences, even though this skyrocketed the anticipation for the movie.

“Hello Isabella, I know you’ve seen what’s trending online and I—!” Calista was interrupted by Isabella.

[[Breathe, Calista. We do not have a policy against dating fellow entertainers. You have your own life, and we respect it,]] Isabella reassured her.

This meant there were no potential consequences following the leak, and her career was at least safe.

“Thank you so much! What did Kyle have to say about this?” Calista asked.

This was the first time she was talking about Kyle with her, and Isabella raised a confused brow.

[[Is there a reason he should say anything?]] Isabella questioned.

She already had her suspicions that they were involved with each other, and to be honest, she didn’t care.

And the fact that Calista was worried showed it wasn’t the contract that bothered her, but the line she might have crossed with Kyle.

Isabella had no interest in being caught in the middle of whatever drama they had going on — but if she had to pick a side, it would be Kyle.

Because Calista was a replaceable talent.

However, Kyle was someone she was still trying to convince to enter the acting industry, because he was the real talent.

Calista remained silent for a couple of seconds because the last thing she wanted was to drag Isabella into this.

“Oh, it’s nothing. I’ll talk to you later,” Calista quickly said before ending the call.

She was in her head, and silence was the most effective way to send a message, because this showed Calista she wasn’t worth crashing out over.

Kyle didn’t return home to Ella. He knew she needed the house to herself after what happened, and this was the most effective way.

He spent the time with Cassandra and Jane, but to his utmost surprise, they ended up talking and playing trivia games.

Kyle was surprised by how much they knew about him and how little he knew about them.

He realised that they were getting to know him, and not just leeching off him.

It was pleasant — he felt seen, a feeling he didn’t know he needed to experience.

He trusted Cassandra, but seeing Jane make an effort warmed his heart, despite her not having the emotional maturity to comprehend the experiences he had gone through in his life.

They slept off in the parlour, with nothing sexual occurring all night.

Others would have screamed for a threesome, but this somehow felt more intimate than that.

“Good morning!” Jasmine greeted him, jumping on his back, prompting a smile to crease his face.

Jasmine had warmed up to him because Kyle was the family she now knew.

He looked after her and gave her food — that was enough to tell her all she needed. Kyle became her guardian.

He fed her things she had never eaten before, and that cemented her trust in him.

“Hello to you, too, Jasmine,” Kyle said, a broad smile on his face.

“Where are you going? You just got here!” Jasmine exclaimed, and Kyle remembered briefly what it was like having a younger sister or family.

“I have work, Jasmine. I have to go,” Kyle told her, but she hugged him tighter.

She was surprisingly strong for her age, but of course, her strength was no match for a grown adult, and Kyle broke away from her.

“I’ll be back,” Kyle said, patting her head.

“You promise?” Jasmine questioned, and Kyle nodded.

“Cross my heart and hope to die,” Kyle responded with a smile — but Jasmine panicked the moment she heard this.

“I don’t want you to die!” Jasmine blurted out, tears welling up in her eyes.

“No, Jasmine, I’m not dying… I’m just saying I won’t break the promise,” Kyle tried his best to explain, but Jasmine was still sobbing profusely.

Cassandra came in and saw Jasmine crying before looking at Kyle to ask with her eyes what he had done.

“I’m innocent!” Kyle quickly defended himself without Cassandra having to ask.

“He said he was going to die if he broke his promise!” Jasmine barked.

Kyle couldn’t contain his laughter as a chuckle escaped his lips before he explained the situation to Cassandra.

Cassandra proceeded to break it down in a way Jasmine could understand and wondered why Kyle had phrased it that way, even though it wasn’t his fault.

How was he to know she had never heard that saying before? Either way, Kyle now understood how he could have explained it better.

“You’re headed out?” Jane joined them shortly after, but she had something in her hand.

It was a lunchbox. There were maids here, but Jane and Cassandra preferred to cook their meals — after all, they were a small family.

“I’m headed to work. I have some loose ends to tie up,” Kyle responded.

Jane, dressed in a nightgown, walked up to Kyle to hand him the lunchbox.

Kyle immediately pulled her in when she was in range, before kissing her, and on cue, Cassandra’s hand obstructed Jasmine’s view, because this wasn’t the type of kiss a kid should witness.

Kyle’s tongue was down her throat, and Jane loved the feeling.

Cassandra looked at them — she caught herself smiling. What a great thing it must be to be this passionate.

They were done, and Kyle winked at Cassandra before gesturing for her to come to him.

Cassandra looked at Jane as though she sought her approval. She had no problem waiting until Jane was comfortable, but Jane already had a soft spot for her.

“I-It’s fine,” Jane muttered, before Cassandra walked up to him.

There was an understanding of the hierarchy in this household, and Jane was at the top.

Kyle kissed Cassandra, but it wasn’t as intense as with Jane, which was understandable. Still, Cassandra was glad just being a part of it.

“And now you — come here,” Kyle gestured to Jasmine, who ran toward him, and he planted a kiss on her forehead like a father would.

“I’ll see you all soon,” Kyle said before leaving the house.

But one thing was clear: these people were now his home.

I have found one and will be fixing previous chapters!
