Chapter 247: Conscious and Romantic
Isaac was already back on his feet, stumbling as he forced some space between him and Emma while the nanites of his Volkner Gauntlet spread across his body.
『Fuck it… even the failsafe is malfunction—!』
They crept like liquid metal as they morphed into the familiar armor plates of his Xenon Suit.
『DAMN IT!』
But the progress was sluggish.
His broken, bleeding fingers weren’t helping—every throb made his focus scatter.
Emma didn’t wait.
She shot forward like a bullet and mercilessly cut through the snowy air.
Isaac barely managed to conjure a nano-shield over his forearm before throwing himself sideways with a burst of force. Her impact cracked like thunder as her fist smashed into his guard and sent him tumbling across the ground.
He blinked at the shield.
It was barely hanging together and fractured like glass.
“Oh come on… (ꐦ ಠ皿ಠ )”
Isaac muttered under his breath.
But whining wasn’t an option.
Emma was already on him again.
This time, Isaac summoned a different defense.
[Xenon Suit now deploying Plasma Shields…]
A roaring plasma shield crackled to life like it was a gladiator shield made of electricity.
When she rammed into it, the shockwave sent her ricocheting into a massive pine tree.
The tree collapsed, throwing snow everywhere.
“Phew…”
Isaac exhaled as he clutched his side.
“That… was a close one…”
He sounded like he’d just sprinted ten miles with a broken rib.
His sweat was cold and he could barely feel his arms.
But relief lasted all of two seconds.
Emma emerged from the rubble like an enraged goddess of the storm as snow fell from her shoulders while her wild hair floated upward as though gravity itself had given up on her.
Her golden-brown skin rippled with muscle as every vein stood out like molten steel.
“You insolent human…”
She snarled like a lion as her eyes sparked red.
Isaac froze.
His butt hit the snow as he scrambled backwards like a panicked animal.
“Wait—wait, wait wait! Emma can’t do that—”
The glow in her eyes deepened, redder, hotter as each second twisted his guts tighter.
Then she unleashed it.
BZZZZZZZZTTT!!
A scorching red wave of energy erupted from her eyes like a gamma burst and obliterated trees as it tore the frozen ground apart in a molten line. Isaac barely rolled clear before the blast vaporized the snow where he’d been lying.
She didn’t stop.
Red beams fired in staccato bursts as each strike detonated the earth like meteor impacts.
Isaac dodged left, right, forward while his half-formed suit sparked as he rolled through snow and debris.
“Cough—cough!”
His chest burned as he staggered forward.
Each dodge felt like a miracle.
“I can’t seem to catch a break, can I…?”
Another blast—his malfunctioning thrusters flared just enough to shove him aside when the beam torched a towering spruce into blazing embers.
Isaac threw a wild glance over his shoulder.
The fire climbed high as smoke billowed into the night. .
If he’d been a second slower, he’d be barbecue.
“All I wanted…”
Isaac wheezed and slapped a hand over his face.
“… was one damn vacation with Jenna before drowning in CEO paperwork! (´-﹏-`;)”
But Emma’s eyes were charging again.
Rather than eyes, you could call them twin furnaces locked on him like heat-seeking missiles.
Isaac spat into the snow then growled.
“Fuck it…”
He formed a gauntlet over his left hand.
The plasma hummed dangerously in his palm.
The charge was so unstable it made the port spark with so much electricity.
And then—
“Alright—NOW!”
Scott’s voice interrupted the disaster.
Out of nowhere, murderbots launched from the silver jet and whirred in formation as they surrounded Emma. Their glowing cannons lit up the forest, and before she could blast them, they opened fire.
Plasma rained down like a relentless rainfall to hammer her into the snowy earth.
“WHAT IS THIS TECH—!?”
Emma roared as she ripped herself from the crater.
ZOOOOOM!!
She flashed upward with super speed.
BLAAAAM!
A punch straight through one drone to shred its core.
Then, with both hands, she grabbed two others midair and crushed them like soda cans.
Sparks and broken metal rained from her grip.
“These inferior human inventions will never match the strength of Pontiachs!”
“You know…”
Scott’s confident voice sounded again.
“I thought about that, Endra. Kehehe… ( ̄ω ̄)”
The consciousness inside Emma froze.
This was the first time she’d heard her name in ages.
Her head snapped toward the voice.
Scott stepped out from behind a tree.
He looked so casual as he kept both hands tucked behind his back, smiling like he was in on the punchline of a joke only he understood.
Emma’s lips curled into a hungry grin.
“So, Mael… have you finally decided to submit to me?”
She hungrily bit her lower lip.
“To act as the pet I will use to expand the Pontiach race?”
She extended her hand as her voice melted.
What she said was crazy, but a velvety voice like that could make anything sound like a treat.
It was still irresistibly sexy.
Scott smirked and jabbed his thumb over his shoulder.
“I’ve got a buddy back home who’d kill to be a sex slave for your… muscle mommy agenda. Not sure he’s what you’d want in a man, though.”
Hidden behind a tree, Isaac almost facepalmed despite his injuries.
Emma’s fists tightened as her eyes glowed at Scott like she wanted to riddle him with holes.
“Submit…”
Her eyes burned hotter.
“Fuuu… (ー_ー)✧”
Scott sighed as he tapped his boot in the snow.
“Look, I really, really, REALLY get the whole world domination thing through freaky intergalactic orgy. Been there, done that with Ezel—well not really. But…”
He tilted his head toward her.
He still has that annoying smirk on his face.
“… that’s my girlfriend’s super hot body. So forgive me if I’m not thrilled about some millennial cosmic whore joyriding in her skin.”
He pointed a thumb at himself and grinned.
“Emma Graves is mine.”
Isaac’s stomach twisted.
The words cut deeper than any beam—like confirmation he had no chance with Emma again.
“After everything I’ve done…”
His fists squeezed tight as he gnashed his teeth.
“I feel like shit…”
He wanted to sigh but all that came out was cold air.
Emma tilted her head, curious.
“Ezel… I have not heard that name befo—”
Scott didn’t let her finish.
In one motion he whipped out both alien devices (the disc and the sphere) and activated them.
“And you won’t have to worry about it.”
A violent hum shook the air as the disc glowed and pulled like a black hole.
Emma’s eyes went wide with madness.
Her scream merged with Endra’s distorted voice as her essence was yanked free. She clawed at the air to fight the pull while her unending shriek haunted the night.
“NO! NOOOO!!”
But resistance was useless.
Endra’s consciousness was dragged into the disc and immediately sealed away as Scott activated the sphere’s energy field around it.
The forest went eerily quiet.
“Phew…”
Scott collapsed back into the snow, coughing.
Emma’s body fell limp in the snow.
“Uhnnn…”
Her eyes fluttered open.
Her vision blurred and her head pounded.
The night sky felt too bright.
“Ugh… my head… (; ̄Д ̄ )”
Isaac struggled to his feet and limped toward her.
“Emma, are you o—”
He reached an arm out for her.
But before he could get close, Scott bolted over to her like a man mad with panic.
“Emma!”
He shouted as he dropped to his knees beside her.
He brushed her hair aside with trembling hands.
Emma blinked at him, eyes hazy, voice weak.
“Uhm… what’s… going on?”
She squinted, unable to fully see.
But she knew his voice, as well as his touch.
She could recognize it anywhere.
Scott just smiled as relief settled into his face.
Emma followed his gaze downward—and froze.
Her face lit up red like a tomato.
“Why am I dressed like a slutty Russian soldier?”
She tugged at the shamelessly skimpy lingerie under the heavy greatcoat.
Scott smirked.
“Believe it or not…”
He scratched the side of his head.
“There’s a lube that comes with that outfit… (;一_一)”
━ ━ ━ ━
Early morning at the Lebedev Estate.
It was anything but peaceful.
Dozens of flashing police cars lined the iron gates and snow-covered driveway as red and blue lights painted the walls in frantic colors.
Officers swarmed the estate like bees, some questioning staff, others scribbling down reports, and a few grim-faced investigators examining the blood-stained marble floors where corpses had been dragged away hours ago.
Jenna sat quietly in the reception hall, her luggage stacked beside her as she stared at it like she could will herself back home through sheer force of will. Her fingers drummed lazily against her knees as she exhaled a long sigh.
『Sigh~ so much for a vacation. Ue… (´﹏`”)』
Her lips curled in mild annoyance.
『I seriously can’t think of a single good thing that came out of this shitty trip…』
But then—Scott’s face popped into her head.
She blinked, then smiled despite herself.
The disaster had at least fixed one thing: she and Scott were finally back on better terms.
The awkward distance between them? GONE.
Now being around Emma wouldn’t feel like navigating a live minefield.
“Tee-hee…”
She giggled softly.
『Worth it. I guess all it takes to fix a crappy relationship is one life-or-death situation.』
And then, the doors creaked.
Isaac walked in, patched up like a stitched doll, bandages wrapped across his face, head, and torso. His steps were uneven, but his chin was held high in typical Isaac fashion.
Jenna froze—then immediately snorted.
The laugh almost slipped out of her nose.
Isaac blinked, brow raised.
“Huh? What’s so funny?”
He instinctively touched the thick strip of bandage across his nose bridge.
That was it. Jenna broke into a full-on snicker.
Isaac realized instantly what the joke was.
He let out a short chuckle himself and ran a hand through his messy hair and gently tugged it down to cover the huge wrap on his head.
“Instead of laughing, shouldn’t you be glad these injuries didn’t ruin my handsome face—for you?”
He talked with a crooked grin.
Jenna arched a brow as her full lips twitched before she gave him a soft smile. Then she quickly looked away and forced out that usual posh composure of hers.
It was obvious she was trying to hard not to care.
And it definitely wasn’t working.
“Oh please… you’re handsome, sure. But let’s not act like you don’t have a hundred dumb models back in the States who’d line up to say the same thing.”
She waved her hand with exaggerated sass.
Isaac scratched the back of his neck nervously as he dropped his head for a short second.
“Uhh… fair enough.”
But his chest tightened.
Other than Emma, he couldn’t remember the last time he’d been honest about his feelings with any woman.
『Here goes nothing! (´•̀ᴗ•́`)و ̑̑』
He took in a breath to steady himself.
It felt like he was about to dive off a cliff.
“Okay… I can do this.”
He looked straight at Jenna.
“Sure, you’re probably right about the models. But none of their concern for me would even come close to how I’d feel if you cared about me.”
Jenna froze up so badly she almost shattered.
She turned to him sharply, eyes wide.
“E… Eh—!? (☉д⊙)”
Her cheeks instantly flushed red.
“What did you just say…? ”
Isaac didn’t flinch.
He was ready to repeat himself word for word.
But before he could, Jenna whipped her head away and dramatically crossed her legs.
She looked like a flustered little doll.
“Shut up, shut up! I heard you already! (>///<)…”
She tried to layer her tone with sass, but the nervous wobble in her voice betrayed her.
The pink in her cheeks only deepened.
Isaac just chuckled softly, watching her squirm.
・・・
Meanwhile, across Moscow…
Emma was sprawled out on a king-sized bed in a luxurious penthouse suite. She wore nothing but an oversized black tee and white lace underwear, her long legs stretched in every direction across the tangled sheets. She snored softly as drool glistened on the pillow, one hand rubbing the empty side of the bed like she expected someone to be lying there.
“Uhhnnn…”
She groaned mid-sleep, lips curled into a goofy smile.
“Puhaa… Zzz…” (∪。∪)。。。zzz
Her soft butt poked out some more.
“Of course I’d let you eat spaghetti off it~”
An oddly perverted look appeared on her face.
“Mmm… Nngh…” (.-ω-)zzz
But after hours of her wandering hand rubbing against only cold sheets, she finally realized it.
Her eyes fluttered open and her elegant lashes batted as she sat up groggily.
“Scott…?”
She rubbed her eyes.
Her hair looked criminally messy.
The floor-to-ceiling windows of the penthouse spilled snowy brightness into the spacious room.
Emma stretched her arms and yawned.
That was when she noticed the sheets.
Stains. Lots of them.
The more she pulled the duvet aside, the more her brow arched and her jaw dropped.
“Eh…? (〇_〇;)”
Used condoms littered the bed.
Some still tied, some half-filled, others scattered like discarded balloons across the floor. She picked one up delicately by the rim and held it like evidence.
“When did we…?”
She tilted her head dramatically, eyes crooked.
“I don’t remember this…”
Her confusion only deepened when she shifted her hips and a sharp pain jolted through her lower body. Her hand slapped over her mouth as her eyes shot open like flashlights.
“OMG—! (´⊙ω⊙`)!”
In a panic, she dipped a hand into her underwear… and fished out a sticky, used condom.
The fact she had to dig her fingers deep into her hole like a miner in a cave said a lot.
She just sat there for a moment, staring at it.
Then her lips curved into a shocked grin.
“Damn, he’s good…”
But another wave of soreness between her legs made her wince as she clutched her hips.
“Dang… he really got me good.”
She rubbed her butt against the bed.
Maybe it would let her remember the sensation of how riding him last night felt.
Four condom packs emptied? There’s no way it could’ve been that good.
“What was he on, rhino pills?”
She hissed, massaging the ache, before finally catching sight of Scott—seated on the balcony, legs crossed, silent against the snow-laden skyline.
Emma’s lips softened into a smile.
“Huuuum… I see. So that’s how it is. Perfect. (`・ω・´)✧”
She hopped off the bed like a Mario game, careful to avoid stepping on the graveyard of latex, and padded barefoot toward him.
“Someone had fun last night…”
She teased as she gently slid her lithe arms around his shoulders from behind.
Scott smiled faintly.
“Yeah… I feel kinda exhausted too.”
He let out a yawn, eyes fixed on the view.
Emma pressed her nose against his neck and started sniffing him as she planted soft kisses.
“Mmmm~ you’re such a bad boy, yunno. You must’ve fucked me senseless—I don’t remember a thing. But judging from how sore I am, you went wild.”
Her chuckle was low, sexy, peppered with kisses.
But Scott didn’t respond.
His eyes stayed locked on the snowy horizon.
Emma noticed immediately. Her smile faltered.
“Something wrong…?”
Scott shook his head slightly.
“Not really. It’s just… I’ve been trying to reach Gwen and she’s not picking up. Not even Aunt Tess.”
He switched off his phone, jaw tight.
“I’m worried…”
He sighed heavily.
Emma’s expression softened.
She brushed his arm and kept her voice warm.
“Yeah… I’m worried too. She called me a few times, then suddenly stopped.”
Scott turned, startled.
“Wait, she called you? Why didn’t you answer?”
Emma froze, cheeks heating.
“Uhm—I was… busy with some stuff at the SMPE.”
She let out a nervous laugh.
“Totally not related to me dressing up as a masked lady and interrupting your time with two princesses…”
Scott blinked. “Eh? (゜-゜)…”
Emma immediately shook her head as she stylishly steered the conversation away.
“Forget that! Look—when we’re back in Metro City, how about we go visit Gwen right away? See how she’s doing at college, yeah?”
She gave him her best reassuring smile.
Scott still looked troubled, but when Emma leaned in closer and kissed him softly, his shoulders loosened just a little.
She wrapped her arms around him again and made sure to press her chest against his back.
“So… I suppose I can’t talk you into some more sleep with your girlfriend?”
Her tone already sounded hungry.
“Down, girl. We just did it some hours ago.”
“Awwww. But I don’t remember… (◞‸◟;)”
“Well, I do.”
“You’re a meanie, you know that?”
The two of them chuckled right after.
Then, Scott smirked faintly.
“Don’t mind me, you totally can. I love sleep. Especially with excellent company.”
But his smile faded quickly.
He still couldn’t stop worrying about Gwen.
Emma nuzzled him as she spoke softly.
“You just want to see Gwen before you do.”
She caressed his chest.
“I get it, honey. ❤️”
She kissed his neck again and hugged him tighter.
