Chapter 236: Feminine Hospital Drama

The moment Bella Trevors walked into the room with her usual swan-like grace, both Nadia and Emma cocked their heads at the same time without even thinking about it.

“Bella Trevors—!?”

The two ladies blurted out at the exact same time.

She hadn’t changed much since they’d last seen her — at least, personality-wise.

Fashion-wise… she was a walking paradox.

Today’s outfit was a peach cotton sweater layered over a crisp white shirt, paired with white short shorts so small you’d think they’d been through a dryer set on vengeance mode.

The fabric hugged her curves snugly to lift and shape her perfectly round bubble butt as if it were being showcased in an art gallery.

In other words—

They were so short you could see the curved and smooth underside of her flawlessly round butt.

Even her smooth, juicy thighs were on full display for everyone to admire, despite the fact that the weather was getting colder by the day.

But Bella Trevors had a rule—never sacrifice sexy for seasonal appropriateness.

An expensive Hermès handbag dangled from her delicate right arm like it was just another casual accessory in her lavish life.

Without greeting a single soul, Bella rushed to Scott.

“OH. MY. GOD. I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU’RE HURT—!”

She practically threw herself into his arms, pressing her cheek against his like she was marking her territory. At the same time, she dramatically flung her Hermès bag aside… and it just so happened to land right on Emma’s face.

Emma could dodge bullets—she actually had before.

But right now, dodging wasn’t the point—getting Scott’s attention was. So she let the bag hit her square in the face and then flopped back onto the bed and clutched her face like a drama queen.

“AHH! MY FACE—!!”

She kicked her legs up for extra flair, her fingers spread over her eyes—though not so much that she couldn’t sneak a peek to see if Scott was watching.

Before he could even ask if she was okay, Bella had already cranked up the intimacy.

She wrapped him in an even tighter hug.

“I WAS SO, SO, SOOOOO WORRIED ABOUT YOU WHEN I HEARD HOW BRAVELY YOU SAVED THE CEO OF CROWE ENTERPRISES!”

She gushed—then shot Emma a devilish little grin over his broad shoulder.

Emma’s eyes widened.

『Oh, it’s on, bitch! (╬ಠ益ಠ)』

She was already gritting her teeth like a primitive cave man as steam shot out of her nose.

Meanwhile, Scott sat there with a blank expression and half-lidded eyes, looking like the very picture of “suffering from success.”

If Jake were here, he’d be laughing his ass off.

On the other hand, Bella wasn’t slowing down.

She stylishly maneuvered him back against the bed so her soft curves could press insistently against him.

Scott could feel her full, round breasts pressing against his chest, flattening like warm, perfect pancakes the harder she pushed into him. They were so soft it almost felt unreal—but at the same time, so firm and perky that her nipples teased against him in a way that made his pulse quicken. If Emma wasn’t there, a part of him would’ve been very tempted to find out exactly why they were this hard.

『They’re like friggin’ bullets…!』

He gripped the sheets so his hands wouldn’t wander.

Bella gave him a confident and teasing look.

Those half-lidded bedroom eyes and that flirty smile.

『He’ll be all mine very soon…』

Her cheeks were lightly flushed.

“You know, Scott, I was so angry when you left me at Mantis Tower like I was some nobody…”

There was “diva” in every syllable that left her lips.

“I wanted to call you, but—ugh—Bella Trevors doesn’t call a man who ditched her! But then…”

Her tone softened suddenly to drop the theatrical edge.

She stroked his back with surprising gentleness.

Now, it didn’t feel like she was trying to seduce him.

“When I heard you were hurt, I didn’t care that you’d ignored me for weeks… or that you’ve never treated me like the queen I am. I just wanted to see you.”

She looked up at him with a dazzling smile, then lovingly cupped his cheeks.

“And thank God your beautiful face is intact. What would I tell daddy—!? Oh, we could always make an appointment with my colleague’s plastic surgeon.”

She launched into more rambling—how hard it was to get here, how she’d picked the fastest car in her multi-million dollar garage, how she had to postpone a business dinner with a producer offering her a movie deal. It was part worry, part humble-brag… with the emphasis heavily on the brag.

Scott wasn’t sure whether to feel touched she came at all, or mildly guilty that she’d missed her fancy dinner… though, if he was being honest, he didn’t actually care.

Off to the side, Willow and Nadia, actual royalty… had somehow managed to become the most irrelevant people in the hospital room.

Willow’s eyes sparkled as she watched Bella like she was a walking gold statue.

Nadia, on the other hand, had nothing to add and wisely kept her mouth shut.

Bella kept going, now on a tangent about how she could spin this into major PR for Scott’s modeling career.

“Erm, no need for that…”

Scott chuckled wearily as he placed his hands on her shoulders to calm her down.

“Not that I’m not happy to see you, but… how’d you even know I was here?”

Bella just leaned in closer.

He lightly pushed her back again.

She rolled her eyes, sat on the bed with one leg over the other, and folded her arms beneath her chest.

“Sweetheart, you’re a celebrity. Something good or bad happens to you? Someone in the media will always spill it.”

She snatched the remote from the bed and turned on the television.

All eyes turned to the screen.

A reporter stood on the expressway where the SUV had gone up in flames the night before.

“Good afternoon, everyone. I’m Finn from Meteor News 8, here with the latest on the accident that almost claimed the lives of the CEO of Crowe Enterprises and a model… uh, I forgot his name.”

He grinned at the camera like an idiot.

Bella’s face scrunched in outrage.

She yanked her handbag from Emma’s lap to dig out her phone—then casually tossed it back at Emma like she was her assistant.

This time Emma caught it as her face screamed I will strangle you in your sleep.

Scott quickly shot her a calming look.

“I can’t believe they don’t know your name, bae!”

Bella huffed, texting furiously.

“Hang on, I’ll get him fired. Let me message Daddy.”

Emma’s head snapped toward her. “BAE—!?”

Too tired for another round of drama, Scott just turned the TV up.

Now the broadcast had shifted to a group of fangirls holding signs with his name and life-sized cutouts of him.

“I still can’t believe it! I saw the traffic camera footage from last night and WOW!”

One girl squealed.

“Is there anything Scott McQueen can’t do? I love him sooo much!”

“WE LOVE HIM TOO!”

“KYAAAAAAAHHHHHHH~! (≧◡≦) ♡”

The others shrieked, loud enough to make Finn flinch.

The scene cut to two middle-aged men.

“Honestly, people are missing the big question here and I gotta point it out—what was that pretty-faced boy doing with Adira Crowe in the first place?”

Scott immediately felt all eyes in the room turn to him.

“Wh… What…? (๑•̌.•̑๑)”

“…”

“…”

They didn’t say a word.

On TV, the second man grinned.

“Here’s my theory: Madam Crowe’s having an affair with him. Look at that woman—built like Lady Dimitrescu if she was three feet shorter. She’s got ovarian fortitude, I’ll tell you that. Her aura is so manly I’d pump her up with testosterone and let her fuck me from behind. Her husband’s busy with politics, so she’s using this Scott guy as her boy toy. Bet she’s paying him big time, too.”

“Kind of like a sugar mommy! (๑•̀д•́๑)✧”

“It’s gotta be!”

The two men folded their arms and nodded.

Finn awkwardly ended the segment before he got himself sued.

Scott arched a brow. “That’s so dumb…”

He turned to the others—only to see they were all still staring at him like interrogators.

“You guys… don’t actually believe that crap, right?”

He suddenly started to sweat.

Emma rubbed her chin. “I mean… it’s you…”

Scott groaned. “Fucking hell…”

Emma got up from the bed with a very loud harrumph.

Everyone’s heads turned toward her. She stood there with her eyes closed, chin lifted, basking in the attention like a queen about to deliver a royal decree.

“Ahem! I know you all came here to see Scott and check how he’s doing…”

She walked to the other end of the bed, climbed right onto Scott’s lap—no hesitation—and settled herself squarely on his crotch as she looped her arms lazily around his neck.

“As you can see…”

She spoke sweetly.

“He’s very strong and healthy, so there’s no need for anyone to waste more time here, yeah? Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. Just drop off whatever gifts you brought him… and leave.”

Every sentence was just Emma venomously trying to mark her territory, yet she spoke in the same polite, hostess-like tone you’d hear at a charity luncheon.

Her smile was pure and angelic…

Right up until Bella rolled her eyes.

“Well, that’s dumb.”

The angelic smile twitched.

Emma’s eyes stayed closed, but the corners of her mouth tightened ever so slightly.

“What did you say?”

Her voice was light and pleasant.

But there was a threat somewhere in that question.

Bella didn’t even look up as she idly admired her fresh manicure.

“I said that’s dumb. Why would I leave my sweetheart’s hospital room when I haven’t even taken any pictures with him yet? My followers deserve to know how he’s doing.”

She blew gently on her nails.

The relaxed and casual look on her face was enough to tell anyone she didn’t give a damn.

If there was anyone on earth designed to get under Emma’s skin, it was Bella Trevors.

Trapped beneath Emma, Scott desperately wished he could dissolve into thin air.

Emma’s hand slid into his hair and tightened (hard) while she kept that frozen smile in place. But now the room could see the veins throbbing on her temples, the creeping red flush in her cheeks. She looked one insult away from boiling over into steam.

“I said… leave.”

Unfazed, Bella fished a nail file from her handbag and began leisurely filing her nails.

“No can do~”

She even whistled a little tune.

Emma’s smile finally cracked.

She stood, stormed over, and snatched Bella’s wrist.

“CAN YOU JUST GET OUT ALREADY—!? NO ONE WANTS YOU HERE!”

There was so much disgust in her voice.

Bella’s brows lifted in surprise.

“… Did you just raise your voice at me?”

She stood too.

Their glares locked like clashing blades.

Before sparks could become a fire, Nadia rushed between them.

“EMMA! STOP THIS!”

She placed both hands on Emma’s shoulders.

Wrong move. Wrong timing. Wrong target.

Scott groaned and covered his face.

“No… I’m not doing this again…”

PAAHH! Emma slapped Nadia’s hands away.

Nadia stumbled back and rubbed her hands.

『I can’t believe she…』

She was completely stunned.

Willow’s guards tensed, ready to intervene, but Willow raised one hand to halt them.

Nadia’s eyes turned glassy. She looked hurt.

Emma rolled hers.

“Oh, please. Don’t start pulling the innocent card just to make me look like the bad guy. You’re staring at me like I betrayed you, when you’re the one who won’t keep your hands off my boyfriend! You know how much he means to me, how much our friendship means—and you still try to get between us!”

Nadia stepped forward.

“I DIDN’T! You know how much I value our friendship! I’d never risk it!”

Emma shot back instantly.

“THEN WHY DO YOU HAVE FEELINGS FOR MY MAN!? HE’S NOT YOURS! HE’S MINE! WE SHARE EVERYTHING—BUT I WON’T SHARE HIM WITH YOU! CAN’T YOU ACCEPT THAT—!?”

Each word was punctuated by a jab of her finger into Nadia’s chest.

Nadia tried to stay calm and keep this from turning into a fight, but with every word Emma spoke (and with her finger poking against her chest) her anger grew. It felt like every thread of self-control was being ripped apart.

She marched forward and pointed straight at Emma.

“HE’S YOURS—AND YET YOU STILL SHARED HIM WITH GWEN, DIDN’T YOU—!?”

Almost immediately, Nadia clapped her hands over her lips like she’d spoken without thinking

The words landed like a bomb.

The room froze.

Emma just stared, wide-eyed.

Scott closed his eyes and prayed.

『Please don’t drag me into this. Please don’t drag me into this. Please—』

Willow’s lips curled in approval.

She folded her arms and nodded like a proud parent.

『Finally standing up for yourself! (.-`ω´-)✧』

In her head, she was such a good coach.

Emma’s throat felt tight.

Her mouth opened but no words came.

She took a shaky breath as her glassy eyes narrowed to hold back tears.

“So…”

Her throat squeezed in pain.

“So… that’s how you feel…”

Her voice was already shaking with so much shame and pent-up insecurities.

“I… I’m sorry…”

Nadia stammered as she reached out.

“I didn’t mean—”

Emma turned sharply to Scott. “Scott.”

He straightened.

“Yes… ma’am…?”

His prayers had failed.

“Send her out. Now. I don’t want to see Nadia Al-Rashid’s face ever again.”

Now it all came down to Scott.

He looked at Nadia and could see the guilt and regret already written on her face. He knew that if he told her to leave, she would go without holding it against anyone.

But when he looked back at Emma, he saw how hurt and furious she was.

Quietly, Scott stood, took Bella’s hand, then Willow’s, and led them both out of the hospital room.

“You son of a—!”

Emma supersped toward them, but—click!

Scott locked the door to trap Emma and Nadia inside.

He leaned against it, exhaling in relief.

BANG! BANG!! BANG!!!

Emma’s fists hammered the door.

“SCOTT! OPEN THIS DAMN DOOR OR I SWEAR TO GOD YOU’RE GONNA REGRET THIS!”

Scott straightened and slipped one hand into his pocket while his casted arm hung loose.

“AHEM—Sorry, but no. You two aren’t leaving until you hug it out like good girls.”

Emma laughed with so much disbelief.

“You’ve gotta be shitting me!”

“Not quite… (¬_¬)”

“You’re stupid if you think that’s gonna work again!”

“My IQ begs to differ…”

“Open this door! (ꐦ ಠ皿ಠ )”

Emma pounded on it at superspeed.

Scott yawned as he turned to Willow and Bella.

“Excuse me, ladies. I need to make a call…”

He pulled out his phone and walked off.

“There’s only one man who can handle this. The cheat code for complicated relationships…”

He dialed.

“Dr. Goode.”

The line clicked.

“Mister McQueen. What now?”

Dr. Goode’s tone was already exhausted.

“Yeah, uh… I need your help.”

“Of course you do.”

The doctor sighed, already regretting answering.

In ten minutes, Scott explained everything.

Dr. Goode was silent for a long moment.

“I… I can’t even begin to understand how you end up in these situations. I’m on my way.”

The call cut.

[Ding! You have a new mission!]

The sound of the System made Scott jolt in fear.

It’d been a long time since he’d even heard it.

“A mission…?”
