Chapter 235: Unwelcome Visitors
━ BC Medical Center, Meteor Hills ━
The middle-aged man stood with a posture that could make a soldier feel insecure. Broad shoulders, lean build, and not a hint of a slouch — the kind of physique you’d expect from a man who refused to age quietly. His full head of wavy white hair was stylishly slicked back, and a neatly trimmed beard framed his jaw, giving him a touch of youthful charm despite his years.
His face carried surprisingly few wrinkles, but the black eye patch over his right eye and the slightly stern curve of his lips gave him a “hard” touch.
The gray coat he wore had a golden Hero Agency badge over the breast pocket.
The mark of the Chairman.
“Oh?”
His deep, calm voice slithered into the room.
“Did I walk in on something…?”
His lone eye looked around the place and then at Emma.
She was still kneeling between Scott’s legs with her hands just about to tug his pants down.
“Uhmm—!”
Emma’s breath hitched as she shot to her feet faster than if the floor had turned into lava.
“Ch-, Chairman Lymtos!”
She blurted, chest puffed out, hands clasped neatly behind her back like a guilty schoolgirl caught by the principal.
The old man chuckled.
“Oh, no… none of all that formalities when you’re out of uniform, alright?”
He waved his hand dismissively.
Scott’s eyes narrowed. Just seeing the man’s face felt like a sharp jab on his nerves. His left fist tightened without him even realizing — as if holding himself back from knocking that damn cane right out of Lymtos’s hand.
Emma noticed this with one quick side glance.
She stomped down hard on his toes.
“OOOP—!”
Scott’s eyes bulged out, and he bit back a yell as her sneaker mercilessly smushed his foot.
“Stop. It.”
She muttered through a smile so wide it was painful.
Every tooth was on display—kind of like a clown.
“Emma—! I swear—!”
Scott hissed between gnashed teeth.
But she only twisted her heel harder.
Barely acknowledging them, the Chairman turned away to inspect the hospital suite.
Scott’s glare softened and became more mischievous.
『This is my chance!』
Without warning, his hand shot out — SMACK!
Emma gasped as she staggered forward and grabbed her butt like she was protecting national treasure.
Her face went bright red and her knees buckled a bit.
She whipped her head around to stare at him with wide, stunned eyes.
ARE YOU MAD?! she mouthed.
Scott simply yawned, as if the answer was obvious.
Lymtos’s voice barged in smoothly.
“Very nice facilities here, don’t you agree?”
Still flustered, Emma nodded too quickly.
“Y-, Yes, sir! But, uh…”
She glanced around, then asked with a slightly softer expression—
“Chairman, if you don’t mind my asking… what brings you here?”
“To offer a few congratulations—”
Another voice interrupted.
Agatha Neumann elegantly walked into the room.
Dark skin, long messy red hair that looked like it had survived a windstorm and somehow made it fashionable, and a sharp black pantsuit that hugged every thick curve without mercy.
Emma blinked.
“It’s you again…” she mumbled.
Last time she’d met Agatha, the woman had been in the exact same outfit — though this time, a silver Hero Agency badge gleamed on her chest.
Scott’s brow rose.
『Vice Chairman, huh…』
Agatha caught his lingering eyes and narrowed her golden vixen eyes at him.
“Hmm? You’ve got a girlfriend, yet you’re staring at me like you’re thinking of asking me out?”
Her smile turned a little flirtatious.
“Should I be flattered?”
Her voice was light, and the way she looked at Scott had a soft charm to it.
It was pretty clear she was trying to be sweet.
But Scott’s expression stayed cold.
He’d never liked the Agency’s brass.
To him, they were the problem of modern heroism.
Agatha tilted her head as she folded her arms under the abundant softness of her breasts.
“Is there a problem, boy?”
She spoke very calmly, but she still managed to sound quite intimidating.
Like she was daring him to say the wrong thing.
Scott didn’t answer and just kept glaring.
Emma looked completely lost right then.
『This is horrible… (╥_╥)』
She just stood in the middle of everyone with her eyes closed, a bit of sweat forming on her forehead, and an awkward smile on her face.
Lymtos stepped forward as his fancy walking cane tapped softly against the floor.
He put a firm hand on Scott’s shoulder and smiled.
“So you’re Miss Mercury’s boyfriend, hm? I’m sure you’re very proud of her. Not everyone makes it to S-rank, you know.”
Scott blinked.
“S-rank?”
His head snapped toward Emma.
“I… I was planning on telling you…”
She mumbled, scratching her cheek with a shy look.
Scott’s irritation faded into a genuine smile.
“About time. You’ve deserved it for years.”
Lymtos gave his shoulder a few measured squeezes.
“Dense bones. Strong muscle. Not bad for a civilian…”
His only eye narrowed.
Scott kept his cool.
“I’m a model. Gotta stay in shape.”
The Chairman nodded and began to leave.
Agatha gave them a little wave.
“Don’t let us interrupt your… freaky stuff.”
She smirked, making Emma’s face burn even redder.
Just as Lymtos reached the door, he stopped.
“Mercury…”
He called her without turning.
“I’ve heard rumors you’re quite the supporter of Nightwatch… Is that true?”
The question made Emma freeze, while Agatha shot the Chairman a narrow-eyed look, like he really shouldn’t have brought that up.
Lymtos didn’t even wait for her to answer.
“Your silence says enough.”
He turned his head just enough for her to see his smile.
“The Agency doesn’t condone professional heroes who support terrorists. Especially not S-ranks. That would make us look… very bad.”
Emma’s hands trembled.
The old man’s smile didn’t change.
“Let’s hope nothing happens to you.”
And then he was gone.
Agatha followed him out, leaving the room silent.
Emma dropped onto the hospital bed beside Scott and clutched her chest.
“Phew… I thought I was gonna die… now I understand how he keeps the top heroes in check. The man radiates mad dictator energy.”
She turned toward Scott — only to see him staring at the door with a very vicious expression.
“Uh… Scott?”
“I don’t like the way he talked to you…”
Scott stood up and grabbed the IV pole beside the bed.
“Where are you—”
SNAP!
The wheels broke off under his hands and left him with a metal staff.
“I’m dragging him back here to apologize.”
“IDIOT!! (◣_◢)✧”
Emma’s hand grabbed his ear and yanked hard.
“Ow, ow, ow—!”
Scott dropped the staff instantly and squealed in pain.
But Emma wasn’t having any of it as she dragged him back to bed like a strict mother.
“You’re still recovering from whatever insanity you got into last night! So you’re going to sit down, shut up, and let me feed you something nice. Is that clear?!”
Emma forced him back onto the bed with a firm shove.
Standing over him, hands planted on her waist, she glared down with the kind of “don’t mess with me” face that could make villains rethink their life choices.
Scott rubbed the ear she had mercilessly yanked moments ago as he wrinkled his face like a kid who just got scolded by his mom.
“Jeez… you don’t have to be so mean…”
He muttered, still massaging it like it was the most fragile thing in the world.
Emma stared at him for a long moment… then her pretty face softened. The fire in her amber eyes faded into a much warmer and worried vibe. She carefully sat on the bed beside him, held his face in both hands, and gently tilted his head up to meet her eyes.
“I… I’m sorry, okay?”
She said softly.
“I just don’t want you getting into more trouble. Whatever the Chairman says doesn’t matter to me. I’ll never stop supporting the kind of hero you are — or what you’ve chosen to stand for.”
She leaned back slightly so he could see her full, warm smile on her beautiful face as her thumbs brushed against his cheeks in slow, gentle strokes.
“It’s one of the many reasons I love you…”
“Cheesy, but I like it…”
“I know some other things you like~ ❤️”
Emma bit her lower lip.
Without waiting for him to respond, she leaned in and placed a tender kiss on his forehead as her silky fingers combed gently through his hair. The kiss lingered just long enough to make the both of them get into the mood.
From that one kiss, she slowly moved closer until she was straddling him, her thighs snug around his hips and the soft curve of her bubble-shaped butt pressing sweetly against his crotch. She wrapped her arms around his head, gave him another light kiss on the forehead, then rested her chin on top of his head.
“Alright then…”
Scott’s voice came out low as he buried his face against her soft breasts, teasing them with little nibbles. All he could really taste was the fabric, but he could still feel the warm, tempting softness beneath.
His arms tightened firmly around her slim waist as he held her like he wasn’t about to let her slip away.
Emma stared down at him with bedroom eyes.
“You’ve been focusing on my breasts a lot these days? Is there something you like?”
“They’ve gotten bigger under my care, yeah?”
“Tee-hee! And perky too… don’t forget…”
“How could I?”
He cupped one of her breasts, massaging it gently with just enough pressure, while his head tilted up to trail soft kisses along Emma’s neck. The feeling made her hold onto him even tighter as she pressed her butt firmly against his crotch and rubbed her body against his.
・・・
Outside the hospital
A sleek black SUV parked by the main entrance.
Inside, Nadia sat with her head leaning against the big side window as her sylph-like fingers lightly pressed against the cool glass. Her back was straight, her shoulders tight, and there was an uneasy tension in the way she held herself.
Willow sat beside her, staring with an arched brow.
“You sure you want to do this?”
She shifted a bit closer to Nadia.
“I could just deliver the get-well gifts for you. You wouldn’t have to see him.”
Nadia didn’t answer right away.
Her lips pressed into a thin line as her soft eyes were still on the hospital’s tall glass doors.
The call from Marcus about Scott’s accident had pushed aside every bit of pride she had. It didn’t matter that he had stood her up the day before—she wasn’t the type to be so petty that she wouldn’t come to check on him.
But that didn’t mean she was comfortable.
Her voice came out quietly.
“It’s not about awkwardness. I’m mature enough to see past yesterday… but if Marcus called Emma first, then she’s probably already up there, taking care of him.”
Her hands squeezed into small fists over her chest.
She sounded so vulnerable.
“And I… I don’t know if I’m ready to walk in on my best friend and the guy I—”
She stopped herself as her eyes fell even lower.
Willow watched her for a moment.
All she could muster was a pitying smile.
“You made that ‘no man between us’ promise because you’d already accepted that one day you’d have to go back to Saudi Arabia and marry your cousin, right? So… no point in starting a relationship.”
She reached over and brushed Nadia’s bangs aside.
“But Scott’s… well, Scott. I haven’t seen much of him, but I can tell he’s any woman’s type. Handsome, kind, infuriatingly impossible to ignore. Even a saintess would struggle not to fall for him.”
Nadia gave a weak, almost guilty smile.
“Thanks…”
Her voice was tight to the point of breaking.
Willow’s expression firmed.
She raised a fist and grinned with determination.
“Alright, let’s go. (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ Time to see your best friend… and possible significant other.”
That got a small laugh out of Nadia.
“Yeah… okay.”
Outside, the drivers stepped down and moved quickly to open the SUV doors for the two women.
・・・
Back in the hospital suite—
Scott and Emma were sitting on the bed with a small table set across their laps. It was stacked with dishes Emma had cooked herself… and that was exactly the problem.
The spaghetti looked like it had been through a drought.
The beef stew, instead of rich and red, was blackened like it had been forged in a volcano.
The other dishes each had their own tragic backstory.
Scott forced down a bite, trying not to gag.
『Yup… Emma’s cooking is still a war crime. And I can’t believe I’m saying this… but without Nadia around to give her pointers… it’s gotten worse. (;一_一)』
Emma beamed at him like a chef awaiting praise.
“What’s wrong? Enjoying it too much?”
She giggled, then scooped a suspiciously charred portion of beef stew.
“Say ahhh~ my sweet vigilante… ❤️”
Scott’s stomach turned.
He still hadn’t finished the last bite she’d given him.
If she shoved another in—
“LOOK! Over there!”
He blurted as he pointed past her.
Emma spun around. “Huh? Where—?”
The second her back turned, Scott spat the mangled food into the small plastic bin meant for used bandages. It was already half-full of the last “bites” he’d hidden.
When she turned back, Scott smiled nervously.
“Ahaha, I was talking about your beauty. And uh… that fa—fat ass of yours.”
He felt a little stupid just saying it.
But, as expected, there wasn’t a single compliment he could give Emma that wouldn’t make her blush.
Her cheeks went pink immediately.
“Oh, youuu~ ❤️”
She scooped another ominous portion.
Scott broke into a sweat.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
Emma froze, spoon in hand. “Come in…”
There was hesitation.
“Come in?” Scott repeated with a confused face.
The door slid open, and in came Nadia and Willow who were both flanked by security.
These men carried big gift boxes.
The moment Emma saw Nadia, the spoon slipped from her hand and clattered onto the plate.
Nadia stood awkwardly in the doorway as her eyes darted everywhere except Emma’s face.
“Uh… Emma… you… you look well…”
She forced a smile, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes.
Scott closed his eyes like a sage that had just reached the realm of enlightenment.
『It can’t go on like this… can it?』
It could.
“MY DARLING SCOTT!!”
A blonde beauty shoved past the security as well as Nadia and Willow like they were all nobodies.
“Fuck no… (;一_一)”
That was all Scott could say.
The lady standing there was Bella Trevors.
Hollywood’s mean queen had returned.
