Chapter 422 – The Prince
In one second he was talking to the shadow’s siblings, explaining subtly what they were soon about to do, and in the next second Orien found himself attacked by the shadow’s siblings viciously.
That attack didn’t come alone, and instead was accompanied by two more presences that descended down on him wanting to flatten him down.
And just at that time, he suddenly felt his connection with his Progenitor severed.
Alarm bells rang sharply inside Orien’s head. With incredible strength and harrowing velocity, Orien burst through the very barrier of the Shadow Realm and exited the world.
The cry of The Will could be heard echoing across the white-silver expanse that Orien now found himself standing in.
He frowned his golden eyebrow, irritation beginning to bubble inside his eyes, “Where is this?” he scowled, feeling the wrongness of the space.
The space held nothing except Fate, Destiny and Causality. Apart from that, everything was completely void of the other natural laws that governed reality.
‘Now, where am I?’ Orien asked once more.
Suddenly, he snapped his head in one direction. There, he saw a world entoured by many phenomena slowly rotating on itself peacefully.
Orien took one step toward Laeh only to pause. He straightened back and looked at the beings encircling him in a wide circle.
There were Ebony, Sylphira, Noctis, Ester, Shadow… and Klaus himself.
At this sight, Orien’s face parted away to a thin smile. He fixed his glowing green eyes on Klaus, ignoring completely the rest as if they were worthless,
“What is the meaning of this, Klaus?” he asked softly, almost gently.
Orien was not dumb, and he could already guess what was happening. Still, he was doing something Klaus saw his former master scarcely do.
The Prince was giving him a chance to redeem himself and join him back. Doubtlessly, he would be punished, but it would be light and far less painful compared to the consequences of betraying The Chosen One.
At that instant, Klaus wished with all his being that he could just follow his true master and fight with him and for him.
He honestly wished that, and that even if he would eventually die at the hand of his enemies.
That was what he wanted.
He was born to take care of Orien. In fact, he was created by the Progenitor only to care for Orien. That meant he had been with him since Orien was but a baby unaware of anything.
Protecting him and obeying him was ingrained into him… yet he was betraying that very aspect of himself.
His soul was screaming in pain, and his eyes were bleeding green blood.
Klaus hung his head low, and slowly muttered, “I am sorry.”
He sought forgiveness, knowing well that Orien was not one to forgive.
Orien didn’t say anything else and instead now looked at Ester. He smirked.
“Silver hair and a unique aura around her. Yes, you are definitely from that world I destroyed long ago. That world with Noah, am I right?” he said, finally beginning to piece the truth together.
Ester smiled faintly, “Yes, you are right. I am Ester Vaelgrim, Elysiari of—!”
“I don’t care who you are, woman.” Orien cut Ester mid-speech, his smile still on his face despite the fact the pressure around them was increasing steadily and dreadfully.
Immediately all of them began to prepare for battle.
Orien’s grin widened.
“You must honestly underestimate me to think that you will be fine if you are alone with me.” He whispered, his green eyes glowing more sinisterly, “The naivety of some beings truly is charming.”
He cracked his neck, and an apocalyptic green aura burst from him and enveloped the whole expanse in an instant.
The whole Buntu trembled.
Far away, Laeh began to quiver in apprehension, feeling the power waving out from the Chosen One.
Ester frowned, her senses warning her of a lethal danger.
Not only her, but all of them.
“I am Orien, you goddamn fools.” His eyes began to glow with searing light, “To even be able to touch me, you must bring at least a True Child of Progenitor. And that…”
He ducked suddenly, rotated his body behind, and delivered a resounding kick to the empty air.
The sound of bones creaking then cracking sharply echoed across the expanse, followed by a torrent of blood appearing out of nowhere and a whimpered cry of a woman.
Sari found herself hurled backward mercilessly, her invisibility now undone.
Finally stopping, she kneeled on the empty space and looked at her ribs. There was now a clear shape of a foot on them, covered by a green light that clung to her body tightly.
Her eye widened as that part of her body began to darken, followed by a distinct scent of rot. She was being poisoned.
She snapped her head forward to see Orien looking at her as if she were filth. His eyes were identical to the eyes of the Progenitor, Luelle. It was like trillions of green leaves were swirling inside his eyes.
Klaus took one step back in shock, as if unaware of this.
Ester was screaming in horror at the sight of her mother. She disappeared and appeared beside Sari using shadow teleportation, wanting to help her.
The situation immediately changed, and now a looming sense of death was floating above their heads.
“You will not be killed, Klaus.” Orien suddenly said, “for I can see you are being obliged to do all of this.”
He looked at his guard and smiled, “Still you shall pay for such weakness. But that would be for later.”
He looked at Ester trying to help Sari, with the latter looking at him with unconcealed hatred.
The siblings’ shadows were unable to budge, the sight of Orien’s Aura bringing back the painful memories of them being enslaved by Luelle.
They were transfixed.
Shadow was the only one still having his head on his shoulders, yet even he knew that attacking Orien at that instant was seeking an immediate meeting with Death itself.
A sudden heavy silence settled around. One only broken by the soft comforting whispers of Ester to her mother.
“It’s fine.” Sari said, smiling weakly, “This is nothing.”
“This is not nothing! Can you heal?” she asked, her body tense and ready for any attack of Orien.
The man didn’t seem in a rush, looking around with a cold, critical gaze. But each passing second his power was getting stronger.
“I can heal. It will just take time because his power holds the nature of Progenitor. It’s more powerful than my Law.” Sari said, already working to heal herself.
She was caught off guard, not expecting to be seen. But now she knew the kind of monster they were facing.
They had underestimated a lot the stature of Orien.
He was pampered by Luelle. And that meant having power handed to him easily.
Ester nodded at her mother’s words, then stood up. They might have been surprised, but they were not done yet.
They had not played all their cards and most importantly,
“You are in our home, Orien.” Ester growled, her whole body beginning to be shrouded in deep living shadows, “You are standing in my husband’s domain and authority.”
Her body became shadow itself, her face only showing now a wide row of sharp teeth with no eyes, no nose.
The surrounding began to darken.
“And when you stand in front of his domain, you shall follow his rules.”
Instantly, all around the white-silver expanse, the voice of Noah riddled with authority and power rang:
The effect was immediate. An overwhelming pressure descended down on Orien as his aura was cut in half, and with that his own power.
He frowned, yet it was not done.
Sari’s wounds immediately closed up, supported by Noah’s authority. She stood once again, feeling as fresh as before.
Now, Orien sensed danger. Yet he smiled.
“You cannot die?” he asked, smiling, “Let’s test that theory, worthless women.”
Ester and Sari’s pride was immediately touched by his words.
And so with a resounding and earthshaking roar of anger, the mother-duo began their assault, and with them, their subordinates.
