Chapter 420 – Golden rat
BOOOOOMMM!!!
Selene found herself hurdled back, her body slashing the bellowing wind viciously. In her wake, she was slamming against the crimson trees continuously and each with a sickened crunch.
At last, the speed of her body lowered significantly, making her stop when the bones of her back splintered apart as they met an immense blood-red tree with drops of blood as leaves.
She grunted sharply and fell on the black grassy field beneath, her blood smearing the ground, painting it in red.
She coughed, and pieces of her organs mixed with blood escaped her mouth in torrents.
She cursed and spat.
The blow she had received on her face had been disastrous, and now she found herself bleeding extensively, her head dizzy.
Selene muttered something to herself, causing the blood covering her face to freeze then shatter into ice that was dispersed by the wind.
Her garbled flesh began to stitch together. And inside her body, she did the same, using her Frost Law to heal her wounds.
Having a fragment of an Origin, her ice was more powerful than regular one. And yet, facing her opponent she felt like it wouldn’t be enough.
She staggered back up and raised her head just in time to see Elira flying toward her, a part of her stomach ripped open showing her internal organs spilling out from her.
It was eerie.
Selene acted. She used her frost and changed its nature to create snow then used it to intercept Elira.
She bounced upon the snow cushion, then fell on the ground weakly.
Elira coughed and cursed as her whole internal organs were pouring out. The pain submerging her mind was beyond anything she went through in her entire life.
But Elira bit her lips, used one of her souls with healing aspect, and rapidly healed all her wounds.
She stood up and stood beside Selene, her face hardened like bloodied steel.
“How is it possible?” Elira rasped, voice hoarse with pain, wondering how they could be so easily overpowered.
Selene didn’t answer her question. She didn’t need to, for Elira herself knew why.
They were fighting against one who was the master of the Origin of Bloodline. In front of him, even their Elysiari bloodline was way weaker than what it was supposed to be.
Because of that, they were not able to fight at full force and that even though they were using their Elysiari transformations and Vael language.
The situation was dire.
“That’s interesting.”
Suddenly a calm and soothing voice echoed through the crimson forest they found themselves in.
They had been fighting all over the world and destroyed many parts of it until they found themselves hurdled here like ragdolls.
The simple fact of being inside the forest gave the two Elysiari a very bad feeling.
Footsteps began to echo all around, before soon a being appeared in front of them.
Seeing him, both sisters’ eyes became murderous, an intense desire to slaughter the goddamn rat in front of them swelling inside their hearts.
The being was indeed a rat. But a golden rat with crimson red eyes shining softly. His golden fur was luxurious, and he walked on his two feet, with a black robe framing perfectly his body.
He wore a monocle on his left eye, and was smoking a black pipe in his mouth.
Seeing him in that way, so clean and unbothered, none would believe that he had been fighting for hours against two Law Creator rank beings.
The rat was Laka himself, The Bloodline Sage.
“I have never seen such a bloodline as yours.” Laka said.
He paused, took a puff on his pipe, and blew out golden smoke before continuing calmly,
“I must exert quite an effort to suppress your bloodline. That’s interesting. That’s truly interesting.” He smiled, showing disgustingly bright golden teeth.
“If you willingly accept to be my test subjects, I shall forgive you for this offense of attacking me and destroying my world and killing my population.”
Elira gave him a thin smile, “Oh will you really?”
“Of course.” He grinned, “I always keep my word.”
Then he fixed his gaze on the silent Selene, tilting his head softly to one side,
“And you…” he began, and inside Selene’s Luminara trembled, “you smell familiar.” Laka said, not breaking his gaze with Selene.
“I don’t know where or when…but I know you.” He took another puff, “and something tells me it’s very important. Something tells me I must know why I feel this familiar feeling from you.”
He began to slowly walk toward them once more.
“You accept willingly to tell me,” the golden rat said, “and I might let you go free when you are no longer of use to me.”
“What if we refuse?” Selene said flatly, her face devoid of any kind of emotion.
At that instant, she was frost itself. Cold, unfeeling and unbothered.
There was no fear, no apprehension. And she looked at Laka like how a god would look at a mortal.
Elira’s expression shifted. She summoned more than twenty of her souls and began to inject inside of her all their power at the same time.
The aftermath of this would be a steep price to pay, but at that moment it was not the time to care about such a thing.
It was time to give everything she had to succeed in her mission.
Absolutely everything.
Her aura exploded, making the crimson trees around disintegrate into smouldering ruin.
Elira’s body began to be shrouded by many kinds of power. Thought, Fire, Healing, Weapons Mastery, Soul Manipulation, Space Holder…
Everything became her.
Selene, meanwhile, didn’t have any kind of big transformation. Yet the fact that each of her breaths was transforming the forest into one worthy of an Ice Age was enough to show her determination and lethality.
They had felt the power of their opponent, and they knew they needed to give their all in order to win.
And so they did.
But Laka only laughed, “You have chosen the hard way, I see.”
He took another puff of his pipe, and this time…the whole world was instantly veiled in golden fog as thick as oil.
The two sisters immediately felt a harrowing pressure yanking away their breath.
“Fine,” Laka’s voice rumbled, filled with wicked delight, “Let’s play, little toys.”
Selene and Elira exhaled, then blurred into motion, just in time to avoid a sudden attack.
The place they stood just an instant before became shredded viciously and tainted by a deep, stinking black substance.
A substance that would devour one’s bloodline.
The battle continued.
…
At the same exact time, in front of a world made of living shadows, two beings stepped out from the void and stood there, watching the world in front of them.
Their hair were golden and their eyes the greenest of green to ever grace the universe.
Orien Worldborn looked at the world with a small smile, “Hm, so let me recall. She wants me to visit the shadow siblings and make sure everything is still as planned, huh?”
“Yes, my lord.” Klaus answered curtly, hoping that his master didn’t pick up the trembling inside his voice.
‘My master? Is he even my master anymore?’ Klaus wondered internally, but actually he knew very well who was his master.
He was now but a slave. And his master was that monster that the universe seemed to be unaware of.
It was honestly bone-chilling to know that such a being was living free without any scrutiny or any restrictions.
And because of that…
“Perfect then, let’s go. I heard there were two women among Shadow’s offsprings.” Orien smiled, “Been a while I tasted something outside my race.”
“What do you think about it, Klaus?”
“They would certainly not mind your affection, my Lord.”
Orien smirked even more.
“Klaus, you have such a sweet mouth. That’s why I like you.” He laughed, then took one step forward, “Let’s enjoy this trip, shall we?”
With one step of them, they bypassed the barrier and entered deep inside the Shadow Realm.
