“I am fine.” You Ruojin didn’t want to stay with the mer any longer, so she bowed her head and then rushed past the mer without even looking at him.

The mer watched her go and the furrow between his brows turned even deeper.

“Changfan? What are you doing here?” When Senior Xie saw her brother, she raised her brows and asked, “Wasn’t your conference going to end at the end of the month?”

“They cut it short because one of the investors ducked out right before the contract was going to be signed.” Xie Changfan turned and looked at his sister, but even then, he continued to glance up at the stairs, which made the woman frown. “What are you looking at?”

“The woman – who was with you right now? Is she okay? She looked kind of sick.” Xie Changfan climbed down the stairs and handed the documents and the minutes of the conference to his sister.

“Woman? Oh, are you talking about You Ruojin? She is fine, but it seems like after suffering at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, she has gotten some trauma when it comes to mers and closed spaces. That might be the reason why she reacted so strongly.” Senior Xie explained. Her explanation was short and concise, and yet it didn’t erase the frown on Xie Changfan’s forehead.
