Chapter 667: You Ruojin: Things Are Changing

Three days later,

“These should be enough?” Yuo Ruojin looked at the blueprints that were placed in front of her. She had been working hard on the new project that Boss Xie had given to her; it was a really small project. She was asked to make a blueprint for Whisperknife. A kind of dart caster that could be used by children and mers when they were being bullied or followed by a stranger. This project was supposed to be under Xu Yiyi, but according to An Yang, that woman had been ignoring this project for a long time.

Since that woman had failed in providing the blueprint, You Ruojin was the one who benefited from it. This was her first project, and You Ruojin didn’t dare to make a single mistake. She stayed in the office for three nights and four days before she was able to finish the blueprint. Rubbing her tired eyes, You Ruojin let out a yawn. “But I should still take another look at this blueprint. Who knows, maybe I made a mistake?”

With that, You Ruojin lowered her head and started to read through all the information that she had written down on the blueprint. From the activation core that could be used to trace and aim to the crystal chamber, dart port and grip, it was ergonomic, wrapped in treated leather with a small safety charm. She had even added a silencer to make sure that no one would be able to hear a thing when the dart caster was activated.

The blueprint looked quite good to her, but she was not the one who was going to make the final decision.

You Ruojin let out another yawn, but she stifled it with the back of her hand.

“Here.”

You Ruojin was startled when something cold and hard was pressed against her forearm. She raised her head and looked at the mer who sat beside her desk. He was a silent and quiet mer who only talked with his friends and hardly paid any attention to anyone else in the office. He had never talked with You Ruojin throughout her entire training period; in fact, it would be better to say that the mer had never listened to a thing that You Ruojin told him in the past. All the ‘his’ and the ‘good mornings’ that You Ruojin gave him had been wasted.

“Are you talking to me?” You Ruojin was quite surprised when she saw the mer talking to her. She blinked her eyes and looked around, making sure that no one else was present near her desk, and then turned to look at the mer while pointing at herself the whole time.

The mer, who was seated next to her, slowly turned and looked at her. With an annoyed yet amused sigh, he said to her, “Who else do you think I am speaking to? Do you see anyone else other than yourself?”

“But you have never spoken to me before!?” You Ruojin stated with what one would call an awed voice.

The mer arched a brow upon hearing her remark. “So what? Are you telling me that I cannot talk to you?”

When You Ruojin shook her head, he smiled and pointed at the coffee can. “You should take a sip of the cold coffee that I brought you. Don’t worry; it’s not open, so you don’t have to worry about anything. There is nothing extra added in there.”

You Ruojin smile turned silly as she picked up the coffee can. “I never said that there was something added to the cold coffee.” She was just surprised; this was the first time anyone had taken care of her in the office; usually, people would avoid her. But today was some kind of special day; it had to be!

She sheepishly drank sips of the cold coffee while rubbing her eyes when someone walked behind her and placed a small vial of eye drops. Surprised, she tilted her head backwards and looked at Boss Xie, who was staring down at her. “Use these eye drops and come to my office after ten minutes. I will take a look at your blueprints.”

“Okay!”

You Ruojin happily agreed, as she had been waiting for an opportunity to show her blueprints to Boss Xie, after she was done applying the eyedrops, she walked over to the cabin where Boss Xie usually worked.

When Xu Yiyi saw how happy You Ruojin looked, she was filled with a sense of indignation and anger. “That woman! She stole my project and yet I don’t see a sign of apology. How can Boss Xie do this to me? Just because that woman came through the back door, she has been given special treatment.”

Xu Yiyi was quite angry after finding out that her project had been transferred to You Ruojin. as she was a weapon expert, she thought that no one would be able to design the blueprint, and even if she delayed, Boss Xie would have to silently wait for her. Xu Yiyi was deliberately dragging this matter forward because she was waiting for Xie Changfu. He was Boss Xie’s brother and a really good-looking mer. The two siblings looked after the department. Thus, she was waiting for Xie Changfu to return from his business meeting before providing the blueprint. But who would have thought that instead of waiting for her to finish the blueprint, this woman would hand the project to You Ruojin?

Xu Yiyi was half certain that Boss Xie knew her feelings towards her brother, and that was why she was coming between the two of them. As if that would be enough.

However, this time around, no one joined in her scoldings. Everyone in the office saw that for the sake of making this blueprint, You Ruojin didn’t go home for more than three days and stayed at the office all day long and even at night. She had worked hard, and that was the reason why Boss Xie trusted her with the project. Xu Yiyi wanted to make use of this project to win the heart of Xie Changfang, but they didn’t have the time to waste!

Even the client was now urging them to finish the project and its blueprint. If they cannot make it, then let them pay the compensation. Who had the time to wait for Xu Yiyi to finish making the blueprint? What was more, Xie Changfu was not going to return for another month! Could the client wait till then? This woman was dreaming if she thought that they could drag the matter till then.

When Xu Yiyi saw that no one was joining, she snorted and then walked away from the employees’ lounge; she was not going to stay in this place any longer. Just wait, once she had won Xie Changfu’s heart, she was going to make sure that these people would suffer.

You Ruojin, on the other hand, had no idea that someone was so upset with her. She arrived at the cabin where Boss Xie worked, but when she saw that there was no one there, she couldn’t help but purse her lips. Frowning hard, she stood outside, not wanting to step inside the cabin when the owner was not there.

“What are you doing here?”

You Ruojin jumped and turned to look at An Yang, who was walking toward the conference room; in her hand was a thick file of papers. She glanced at You Ruojin and then asked, “Are you looking for Boss Xie?”

“Yes. do you know when she will return?” You Ruojin asked.

“She must be in the inventory. Go and look for her there.” An Yang replied as she looked at the watch on her wrist, she paused and added, “And also let her know that she is needed in the conference room in the next half an hour; she better be there or the meeting will be delayed. The material for the meeting is on her computer after all.”

You Ruojin nodded and then went to look at the inventory where Boss Xie was supposed to be but as soon as she arrived at the room, she didn’t see anyone. Instead her eyes fell on the flaming red core that was sitting on top of a mount, with an acrylic kinda box around it.

“Woah, what is that?” She walked over to the crystal core that was illuminating the room better than the lights and peered inside the glass box. “Its glowing!”

Her curiosity burned in her mind and she couldn’t help but want to reach out and touch the crystal. But as soon as she raised her hand to touch the core, someone stopped her.

“Don’t touch it or you will lose your fingers.”

Almost at once, You Ruojin dropped her hand and turned to look at Boss Xie, who had stepped out of the side room. “What are you doing here?”

“I —Chief An sent me here.” You Ruojin replied, her voice breaking slightly as she realised she looked like a little thief.
