Chapter 1313: The Proud Sun
In the years following the Battle of Ravenfell, the Acadian Empire had gone through major reforms.
First and foremost, the security in every metropolitan city had increased. More Magi were incentivised to patrol the lands in search of the vile cultists.
In preparation for the war to come, resources from the Royal Family of Acadia were distributed not just to the Four Pillars, but also to several other arcane academies throughout the Empire.
However, the biggest change to take place on the Ulier Continent was the annexation of the Southern Federation!
After it was brought to attention that the Cult of Bones had several secret cells in the Southern Federation that recruited children to brainwash them and have them join the Cult of Bones, the Empire put its attention and resources into annexing these lands.
Needless to say, there was no opposition from the kingdoms within the Southern Federation. The truth of the matter was, they could do nothing about it even if all the kingdoms grouped together.
The greatest Magi in the Southern Federation were at the Mana Vortex Rank. Even if they banded together, they could never hope to defeat the Emperor of Acadia.
After the annexation, the forces of the Empire swiftly moved into the lands south and got rid of all the cells belonging to the Cult of Bones. They established proper rules and regulations in the lands, and before long, the Southern Federation was under the control of Acadia.
Not long after, the Empire sent its Magi into the treacherous lands within the Murky Mountains. It was unknown whether they were hunting for beasts or orcs. However, there had been a steady flow of warriors into this region in the past three years.
Of course, only a handful of people knew that the reason for sending men into the Murky Mountains was to find the snake who had backstabbed the Empire during the Battle of Ravenfell.
It was only yesterday that they were successful in locating the hideout of the traitor.
And today… the lands were overflowing with blood.
Flanked on both sides by rows of Mana Vortex Magi in golden armour, a tall and muscular man with broad shoulders strode forward, his hands clasped calmly behind his back.
Wearing white and gold robes, he stood in stark contrast to the blood-soaked ground and the hundreds of corpses strewn around him. A mane of golden hair framed his refined face, and his golden eyes gleamed with indifference.
His most striking feature was the radiant sun-shaped emblem that shone upon his forehead.
This was the Third Emperor of the great Acadian Empire!
With every step he took, the eyes of the men flanking him shone with a brilliant light. They were all waiting to see the great display of power that was about to unfold.
At last, the Emperor arrived at the base of the mountain. He stood before the cave entrance, a thoughtful look on his face.
“Is this where he’s hiding?” He asked with a gentle voice.
A Magus nearby thumped his chest plate and respectfully answered, “Yes, Your Majesty! We have already cast a barrier around the mountain. He has nowhere left to go.”
The Emperor hummed in acknowledgment. Then, he entered the cave.
The insides were also littered with corpses—courtesy of the Magi of Acadia. This was payback, after all.
Not even sparing the corpses a glance, the Emperor made his way deeper into the mountain until he arrived at a cavernous chamber.
There, seated on a raised dais, was a figure dressed in black. He had a hunched back, and it was difficult to identify his gender.
This person was none other than the greatest assassin of Ulier…
The Silent King!
The Emperor finally halted in his footsteps, his gaze settling on the hunched back figure.
“Not planning to run?” He asked with an arched brow.
The Silent King finally raised their head and gazed at the blond-haired man. “That’s a powerful barrier you put around this mountain, Your Majesty. I’m afraid even a group of Mana Core Magi won’t be able to break through it.”
“Is that so?” The Emperor tilted his head.
The Silent King sighed. “I have no excuses for my actions, Your Majesty. And I shall not provide any justifications for what I did. So just… kill me.”
“Such an act is beneath me,” said the Emperor, his voice dripping with contempt.
The Silent King frowned, a trace of hope flickering in their eyes. “What… do you mean?”
“The weak should be given an opportunity to keep their lives,” The Emperor murmured, looking down on the assassin.
“So I shall give you a chance to defend yourself. If you succeed, I will let you live.”
The Silent King’s eyes narrowed.
Without hesitating, he rose to his feet and got into a fighting stance as he drew his daggers. “Thank you for this opportunity, Your Majesty.”
The Emperor simply looked at him with boredom.
“Then… I shall make my move!” The Silent King disappeared.
The Emperor’s eyes gleamed with a golden light. Mana coursed through pathways in the most optimal way. He gathered mana into his fist and launched a powerful blow.
Golden Zenith Style: World Breaker.
BOOOOOM!!!
Mana surged in sync with the Emperor’s strike, and in a matter of moments, the force of his punch erased the Silent King until nothing remained of him.
But that wasn’t all…
The shockwave blasted straight through the mountain, carving a gaping hole clean through its core before erupting outward.
BOOOOM!!
With a deafening, thunderous crack, the barrier around the mountain shattered. And even then, the force of the attack continued on, gouging a deep ravine a full mile beyond the mountain’s far side.
As the mountain slowly crumbled, the Emperor emerged from the dust. He hovered in the sky, with a radiant golden halo cloaking him.
When the Magi beheld this glorious sight, their eyes blazed with zeal and reverence, and they erupted into thunderous cheers.
“Long live the Emperor!”
“Long live the Emperor!”
The Emperor turned towards them and gave them a light nod. Then, he flew away, disappearing behind the clouds.
This was the strength of the Emperor of the Acadian Empire!
This was the Strongest Magus of the West!
This was the Proud Sun!
This was Lucian Acadia!
