Chapter 1250: Sense of Déjà Vu

A chunk of Adam’s mask was sliced clean off, exposing the left side of his charred jaw.

In the dark of night, not many people could see his appearance, but the one standing right in front of him, the handsome swordsman in white robes, was able to see it clearly.

He couldn’t help but grimace ever so slightly. The swordsman’s gaze then shifted to Adam’s exposed hands, his frown deepening.

“Were you born like that?” He spoke in Acaros. “Or did some sick man put you through torture?”

Adam completely ignored what the swordsman said, his lips slowly curling into a wide grin.

He first scanned his surroundings and noticed that close to a dozen Magi had already perished, their corpses still ablaze from the flames of his blades.

As for the rest of the ninety-or-so Magi, they all had terrified looks on their faces—including the Mana Vortex Magi. They all surrounded him, but none dared to attack. They were all gripped by dread.

After all, not even half a minute had passed, and the casualties were already so great.

Adam tilted his head, his attention shifting to the handsome swordsman and the two Magi in black flanking his sides.

“Shadow magic,” he murmured. “And quite a good application of it, I must say. Tell me, are these two your dogs? Are you some kind of big shot? I wonder if I’ll get in trouble after killing you…”

His words elicited an enraged emotion from the two Magi dressed in black. Adam could see it in their eyes. This caused him to laugh hysterically. His ability to get under people’s skin was still flawless.

Meanwhile, the handsome swordsman remained as stoic as ever. He first gazed at Adam’s twin blades, then at the dark, tattered cloak he wore. Finally, he looked at the strange beast strapped to his back. At last, he said:

“Magus, hand over those artifacts, and we may spare your life.”

Adam’s grin froze abruptly, and he suddenly felt a sense of deja vu. He couldn’t help but mutter under his breath:

“That’s exactly what one of those bastards said to Magus Stockholm…”

The handsome swordsman frowned. “What—”

But the words got caught in his throat when one of the Blades of Fulgrim came hurling straight towards him. One of his guards stepped forward and efficiently blocked the blade.

Though his hands trembled from the impact, the sword in his hand remained steadfast, indicating that it, too, was likely to be a Grade 4 Artifact.

The handsome swordsman couldn’t help but grow restless and furious. “You dare interrupt me, outsider! Everyone, attack!”

Standing at the center of the formation, surrounded from all sides, Adam put away the Blades of Fulgrim, putting them inside Gege’s mouth.

“But unlike him,” he began, his lips once again curling into a wide grin. “This won’t be my last stand.”

Imbuing a ridiculous amount of mana into his hands, he got into a fighting position. A tyrannical aura radiated from him as the air around him distorted ever so slightly.

“Come!” he roared. “All of you!”

His words marked the beginning of an elemental barrage of spells. All sorts of magical spells, ranging from fire, lightning, ice, and air projectiles, were hurled at him from every direction, threatening to engulf him completely.

Adam waited for the last possible moment, scanning his surroundings with great focus, before his figure turned into a phantom. Utilizing Stellar Steps, he nimbly traversed through the chaos and destruction around him and reached his target within moments.

Disrupting the hand seals of a lanky Mana Vortex Magus, Adam struck with a powerful palm thrust.

Hand of Doom: Spectral Palm Strike!

In the next instant, the lanky figure’s chest caved in as he coughed out a mouthful of blood. A moment later, a gaping hole came into being as his heart, lungs, ribcage, and all the muscles in that area were blown away, turning to blood mist.

Just like that, Adam had killed yet another Mana Vortex Magus.

But he didn’t waste another moment. He grasped the collapsing corpse of the lanky figure, then hurled it at the nearest group of Magi, who were preparing to cast another spell.

Blinding this group of Magi momentarily, Adam retrieved one of the Blade of Fulgrims, activated the enchantment, and then viciously swung it at his enemies.

The flaming blade tore through the group of half a dozen Mana Liquefaction Magi as effortlessly as a searing knife through butter.

Just as the next volley of magical spells threatened to drown him from all sides, Adam utilized his movement technique again and disappeared from his spot.

Not even a minute had passed since the start of the battle, but the madman had already murdered around twenty Magi—two of whom were at the Mana Vortex Rank!

His initial plan was to kill off the strongest of the group—the handsome swordsman in white robes—hoping that his death would deal a severe blow to the group’s morale. But it turned out, dealing with the swordsman was harder than he had anticipated.

So Adam changed his approach. He was first going to deal with all the Mana Foundation and Mana Liquefaction-level fodder, occasionally murdering a Mana Vortex Magus if it was convenient. The handsome swordsman and his guards would be dealt with later.

Dodging a spear attack by a Mana Liquefaction Magus by effortlessly sidestepping, Adam brought his hand to the enemy’s face, and then…

Hand of Doom: One Hit!

In the next moment, the man’s head burst open like a watermelon, and he fell lifelessly to the ground.

Adam grabbed the man’s spear, dodged another barrage of arrows, then hurled the spear straight at one of the archers standing in the distance.

The spear ruthlessly impaled the archer, who turned out to be a Mana Foundation Magus, killing him in a matter of moments. Though he was weak, his actions were quite annoying to Adam.

The madman did not stop at all after killing his enemies. His momentum was smooth, and his flow immaculate as he reaped life with every step he took. During the time he had spent in Mabi, he had perfected his mana combat techniques to a great degree.

Now, he was reaping the fruits of his labor.

Another minute passed, and Adam slaughtered another score of foes. But at last, he found himself cornered at what seemed like a dead end.

The ground beneath him churned and shifted, coiling around his legs and binding him in place. At the same time, a group of Magi had finally finished their spell components.

The next moment, the sky above Adam blazed with a blinding light. He extended his senses upward and noticed…

A barrage of Great Fireballs was raining down on him.

And the next moment, the flames swallowed him whole.
