Chapter 449: Hunting the Hunters

In the blink of an eye, Jiang Chen and Ying Luo passed each other like ships slipping through the night.

Jiang Chen hid himself so well that not even Ying Luo noticed him—let alone Lu Yi.

“Ying Luo, teleport three times in a row,” Jiang Chen ordered through their soul link the moment they crossed.

Ying Luo’s eyes lit up at his familiar presence. She didn’t look back, just let out a piercing dragon’s roar—”Roar!”—and tore open space itself, vanishing ten million kilometers away in an instant.

“Again? Is all this running really necessary?” Lu Yi muttered, caught between disbelief and helplessness. “Those two aren’t worth the trouble—we could’ve taken them.”

Then it hit him. Qiu Feng and his partner were already gone, completely out of range of his divine sense.

Spatial teleportation… what a terrifying power. When will I ever touch the Dao of Space myself? The thought stirred a restless hunger in his chest.

…

Qiu Feng grit his teeth. Damn it, that true dragon teleported again!

If this keeps up, they’ll slip away. And where the hell have Liao Tongfang and the others gone?

He pulled out a spatial transmission talisman, his mind racing.

The news had already reached him—Wen Renxiu and his whole group had been wiped out.

On top of that, Liang Youwen had given strict orders: everyone inside the Purple Crest Immortal Sect’s territory was to put everything into catching Lu Yi and the true dragon.

The goal was simple—seize Lu Yi before the sect’s Nirvana Cleansing realm powerhouses returned.

Qiu Feng and his six allies had spread out, loosely surrounding Lu Yi and the dragon girl. The net wasn’t closed yet—there was still plenty of space between them—but Qiu Feng figured another fifteen minutes would be enough to lock them in completely.

As for Jiang Chen, he should’ve still been far away. After all, he had just wiped out Wen Renxiu, Sun Tianhan, and their group in the Southern Breeze Mountain Range. There was no way he could rush over so soon.

What Qiu Feng never imagined was that Jiang Chen, like Ying Luo, had mastered space itself—and his command of it was far beyond hers.

Right now, Jiang Chen was already behind him. So close he could reach out and touch him.

“You won’t get away!” Qiu Feng barked, clutching a spatial talisman in one hand and a half-transparent crystal in the other.

The other Nirvana Peering realm expert stepped up beside Qiu Feng, glaring coldly in the direction Ying Luo had vanished.

Just as Qiu Feng was about to crush the crystal packed with Nirvana Cleansing-level Immortal Origin to trigger his talisman, a single word cut through the air—low, cold, and final:

“Die.”

It slipped into their ears like a blast of ice from the depths of hell.

Qiu Feng’s head snapped around, eyes wide. “Who—!? Jiang Chen!? No—!”

His companion’s hands shook. “Wait—please, don’t—”

But the crushing weight of death was already upon them, leaving their bodies rigid, their spirits breaking under sheer terror.

Mercy was the last thing Jiang Chen intended.

Just like with Wen Renxiu and Sun Tianhan, Jiang Chen unleashed the power of Gravity and Space. The two men didn’t even have time to scream before their bodies and souls crumbled into dust.

A moment later, system chimes rang out in his sea of consciousness:

[Ding! Plot alteration detected! You’ve blocked Protagonist Lu Yi from showing off and cutting others down. His Heavenly Fate Value has dropped by 2000!]

[Ding! You’ve gained 4000 Villain Value points!]

Wordless Heavenly Jade. Death Calamity Dark Star Moon Dao Embryo.

With a flick of his hand, Jiang Chen swept up their treasures and left as calmly as if he’d just crushed a pair of ants, not two Nirvana Peering realm powerhouses.

Having killed Qiu Feng and his partner, Jiang Chen cloaked himself and shot toward Ying Luo and Lu Yi.

In the blink of an eye, he appeared at Ying Luo’s side. His vast divine sense spread outward, covering eighty million kilometers and laying everything bare.

Five Nirvana Peering realm experts were rushing in from different directions.

At their head was Liao Tongfang—like Qiu Feng, a Peak-stage Nirvana Peering realm powerhouse.

Another delivery of resources. A faint grin tugged at Jiang Chen’s lips, though he held back from striking.

Better to let Lu Yi notice the danger first. Then, just like before, Ying Luo could teleport them away while he quietly cleaned up Liao Tongfang and the others.

Time slipped by.

Nearly fifteen minutes later, the fastest of the pursuers—Liao Tongfang—closed in on Ying Luo’s range. Both sides instantly locked onto each other.

“A Peak-stage Nirvana Peering realm powerhouse!” Lu Yi’s eyes lit up, like a starving man spotting a feast.

“Lady Ying Luo, if we work together we can bring him down! Once he’s dead, we split the loot seventy-thirty. I’ll take seventy, you take—no, no, you get seventy, I’ll take thirty. How about it?” He leaned toward her, eager to coax her into turning back so they could kill their pursuer and cash in on the spoils.

But Ying Luo didn’t even glance at him. She stuck to Jiang Chen’s orders and kept flying straight ahead.

Lu Yi slapped his thigh hard. “Damn, Ying Luo, we really could’ve won this!”

“It’s not an option,” Ying Luo shot back. “Big brother warned us—there are more coming. The second we stop, we’ll be surrounded.”

“You’re just… too cautious! If we take out the one chasing us, the others might not even make it in time to help him.” Lu Yi let out a long breath and shook his head, resigned.

Ying Luo didn’t bother answering. She pulled out a chunk of Space Essence Gold and casually tossed it into her mouth, chewing like it was nothing more than candy.

“That’s—Space Essence Gold!” Liao Tongfang’s eyes went wide. “Heavens above, that’s the Void Tribulation-level spatial treasure, Space Essence Gold!”

As someone well-versed in rare treasures, he recognized it instantly. His shock quickly twisted into raw greed. A true dragon with something like that? Unbelievable. But once I capture it, that treasure will be mine. With it, I’ll master the Dao of Space!

Just then, another figure streaked in from the distance—a Late-stage Nirvana Peering realm expert, one of the seven from the Compassionate Sword Immortal Palace.

“Master Liao!” the newcomer called out.

“Hold for now,” Liao Tongfang sent through divine sense. “Wait until more of our people arrive. No need to spook them and let them slip away.”

“Agreed. Better to wait for our brothers and lock this down. But we can’t waste too much time—Jiang Chen could show up any moment,” the newly arrived cultivator replied.

Liao Tongfang gave a short nod, saying nothing more.

A moment later, another late-stage Nirvana Peering realm expert appeared.

“Encircle them!” Liao Tongfang barked.

The three of them moved at once, closing in from different directions. Their combined pressure sealed off the space around Ying Luo and Lu Yi, forming a deadly triangle.
