Capítulo 989: Two-Headed

Shane thought it was just some gibberish words, but soon, he realized that one of its heads was speaking, while the other echoed in a distorted tone, overlapping like a terrible noise…

“Human… strong… too strong…”

The second head growled, drool and acid started dripping from its mouth. “But strength… will fade. All… will rot. All… will join us.”

Shane held the Shadowflame Longsword tightly as he looked at the Summoned Zombie Lord. “You can talk? That makes you worse than the others.”

The creature slammed its fists into the ground as shockwaves rattled Shane’s footing. “You… are food. We… are endless. You… are…”

Shane smirked as he realized that the Zombie’s intelligence didn’t seem to be that impressive as he thought. It was as if it just learned how to speak…

“Just give me a good drop…” Shane muttered as he attacked with his long sword.

The Zombie Lord roared, both heads screaming in discordant tones. “Then… you will be food… to me!”

With Shane’s sword, its regeneration weakened, suppressed by Undead Bane. As he attacked, the black fire spread deeper, weakening its tissue.

Shane leapt high as he wanted to trigger one of his Calamity Set’s abilities…

“Winged Descent!”

He then plummeted like a meteor with the Shadowflame Longsword in his hand!

Boom!

The impact exploded with a wave of dark energy and flames, stunning the Zombie Lord as it was cut on its body!

Its torso was wounded, but its four arms still moved and tried to capture Shane. However, it was too slow, and he easily dodged their hands.

“Persistent… but you’re already dead.”

The creature didn’t care and pounced once again with two arms clawing forward while the other two swung like clubs.

Shane jumped high but even with his agility, the sheer speed of the Lord forced him to block.

Clang!

The Shadowflame Longsword met the Zombie’s hand.

Sparks and black fire erupted, but the impact was so heavy that Shane was driven backward, sliding across the sand.

His Safety Protection token was even triggered and absorbed part of the damage.

“Good… you’re adapting to my attacks?” Shane muttered as he could tell that the Ogre Zombie Lord was actually adapting to his movement patterns.

The Zombie Lord’s left head didn’t answer, but it gurgled and started spewing a stream of acidic bile.

It didn’t end there…

The right head shrieked, unleashing a sonic roar that rattled Shane’s senses.

His Calamity Mask suppressed the mental interference, but the combination of acid and sound forced him to dodge hard, rolling across the battlefield.

‘Tsk… Sound-based attacks are always annoying to deal with.’

He retaliated with a slash as the Shadowflame Longsword ignited in black fire. The blade carved into its leg, and just like that, flames spread upward. The Shadowflame Burn stacked and swiftly consumed the Zombie’s flesh.

But the Lord-tier Zombie lives up to its name.

Its regenerative tissue was still strong enough to force the flames back. Shane’s Undead Bane suppressed the healing, but the monster still fought through it, swinging all four arms without getting tired…

‘Still slow…’

Shane then activated Phantasm Rush, and his speed surged. He darted between the strikes, slashing at joints and tendons…

Each cut left trails of black fire, but the Lord-tier Zombie’s vitality was immense.

Suddenly, one head spat acid upward while the other roared downward. It just created a deadly cross‑attack. Shane barely escaped thanks to his Death’s Glimpse tattoo skill, which was triggered passively, giving him two seconds of precognition, saving him from being caught in the trap.

He leapt high, cloak trailing embers. “Winged Descent!”

He plummeted like a meteor, the Shadowflame Longsword blazing. The impact exploded in fire and shadow, staggering the Zombie Lord. Its torso split, its four arms flailing wildly.

But it still lived.

The abomination roared, its wounds regenerating faster than before. Its claws slammed into the sand, tearing chunks of earth as it tried to grab Shane again.

Shane exhaled, his eyes narrowing. “Persistent… but you’re already dead.”

He raised the Shadowflame Longsword, and lightning started crackling from his Stormbreaker Talent.

“Tempest Crash!”

A burst of storm energy erupted around him, and arcs of lightning had even fused with the black fire and hit the Zombie Lord1

Boom!

The Zombie Lord couldn’t defend against lightning attacks!

It convulsed with both of its heads screaming in agony as shadowflame and lightning tore through its body.

Still, it refused to fall.

One arm shot forward, grabbing Shane!

It happened while he was mid-air, so Shane had difficulty dodging! Thankfully, he was still protected by his barrier. However, the Zombie Lord’s hands started crushing his barrier and soon, shattering it!

Shane gritted his teeth, slashing upward with the Shadowflame Longsword. The blade severed the arm, and black fire started consuming the stump.

The Lord staggered, but its remaining arms swung wildly, forcing Shane to retreat.

“It’s over…” Shane muttered to himself after realizing that the Zombie Lord’s attack had already weakened.

He dashed backward to get some momentum before he charged forward again… This time, he used his Armored Dash, and his blade pierced one of its heads.

Furthermore, Soul Rend triggered!

A critical strike occurred, removing a huge chunk of its vitality…

The head shrieked before the Zombie collapsed… However, the other head was still alive and roared louder before it spewed more acid in desperation.

This time, Shane just triggered his Bio-Armor and protected himself from the bio-hazard… Then, he raised the Shadowflame Longsword one final time…

“Fall.”

He drove the blade into its chest. Black fire erupted, followed by a lightning strike… and the Zombie Lord’s body immediately started writhing as the flames consumed it from within.

Finally, the abomination’s life had ended…
