Chapter 936: Capsules

Tundra’s breath caught for a moment as he stared at the name.

BioGenix.

He’d heard that name before… many times, actually. Shane had spoken of it during one of their strategy briefings, and he also asked a lot of questions about this mysterious company…

Apparently, it was a biotech company once tied to the World Government. The same company that had spearheaded Project Z.

It was basically the beginning of the end. It was the origin of the Zombie Virus after all…

Tundra stepped closer, brushing dust off the plaque. The logo was still visible… It was an abstract helix wrapped in a circle. It was already half-faded but unmistakable.

He looked around again, this time he was a bit more careful…

There were remnants of lab equipment in the corner, like a broken centrifuge, shattered vials, and a rusted containment locker.

The drawers were empty, and the data systems had long since degraded. Whatever secrets this place once held had been lost to time.

Still, the connection was undeniable.

This wasn’t just a villa. It was actually a research outpost of the said company… Or perhaps, a hidden office of BioGenix, buried beneath the guise of a coastal estate.

Tundra’s fingers curled slightly. He could feel the urge to plant a bomb… just in case. But he resisted since there could still be some items they could salvage from there.

He needed to know more about this place. Soon, he opened a side door…

Clank!

He then found a stairwell leading downward… It was toward what looked like a sealed sublevel.

“Alright… Let’s explore this place…” Tundra muttered as the air grew colder.

For now, he didn’t think of calling anyone to follow him. After all, he couldn’t feel any danger or other creatures or humans inside this building.

Furthermore, if this place truly held remnants of Project Z, then it was too important to disturb without understanding what lay beneath. With his current strength and set of skills, he should have no problem exploring this place without causing damage…

Just like that, Tundra adjusted his grip on his weapon and descended the stairs alone.

Whatever this place was, it had survived the apocalypse almost untouched, and it must have other secrets.

After considering for a moment, he still picked up his radio and informed everyone of his plans.

[ Everyone. I’m entering a secret passage I found in the Director’s Office… Just continue your search and check on me later in case I don’t return. ]

After that, Tundra moved through the corridor carefully. Unlike the rest of the villa, this place was pristine. There was no dust at all, as if it were kept clean regularly by someone.

The walls were made of steel, and the air, though cold, was clean.

There was also no power, but the facility had clearly been sealed properly.

He passed through a set of steel doors and entered a wide chamber.

Rows of cylindrical pods lined the walls…

“Hmmm? Cryochambers?” Tundra muttered as it was quite similar to the ones they found beneath the New Genesis Shelter.

Each one was about the size of a standing coffin, with transparent panels and embedded control interfaces. Most were open with their lids retracted, but they weren’t damaged.

There were no signs of cracks or even corrosion. They were just dormant as if they were unaffected by the passage of time.

‘Interesting… How are these things still looked pristine and ready to use?’ Tundra was confused.

He then approached one and examined the interior.

The cushioning was intact, the internal tubing hadn’t ruptured, and the biometric ports were still in place.

‘It must be those medical chambers or something…’ Tundra thought as he soon found the name of the device on the side…

Vital Capsules.

Unsurprisingly, even the documents around weren’t damaged, and he still found information about these things.

Apparently, they were advanced medical pods designed for rapid healing and cellular stabilization.

It was not for resurrection, or stasis like the CryoChamber, but recovery. They could accelerate healing, purge toxins, and stabilize critical injuries.

In the early days of the apocalypse, they had been reserved for high-ranking officers and elite researchers.

And here were twenty of them untouched.

Tundra exhaled slowly. “This… could change things.”

He checked the control panel. No response whatsoever… Obviously, there was no power.

Still, the capsules themselves were intact. If they could restore the facility’s energy grid, these could become one of their most valuable assets.

Soon, footsteps echoed behind him.

He turned as the others arrived… They were Otto, Sona, Zephyrion, and Eldric. They had followed his trail through the villa and down the stairwell.

“Tundra?” Eldric called out. “We didn’t find anything upstairs. Just dust and broken furniture so we followed you here…”

“Then this is what matters,” Tundra replied, gesturing to the chamber.

Otto whistled. “What are these? Stasis pods?”

“Not quite…” Tundra said. “They’re called Vital Capsules. Medical-grade recovery units. If we get them working, they could heal critical injuries in hours.”

Sona stepped closer, inspecting the interface. “No power?”

“None…” Tundra confirmed. “But the structure’s intact. No signs of sabotage or something…”

Zephyrion wandered toward the far wall, his skeletal bird fluttering ahead. Eldric, meanwhile, crouched near a panel embedded in the floor.

“Found something…” Eldric said. He pried open the hatch and revealed a manual switch. It was likely a power relay or emergency override.

He flipped it without hesitation…

Clank.

Unfortunately, nothing happened.

“No current,” he muttered. “We’ll need to trace the power lines. Maybe the generator’s buried deeper.”

Tundra nodded. “We’ll map this place carefully. If we can restore power, we’ll test one capsule first. Anyway… I think this is a good place to start a new shelter. What do you think?”

Otto nodded as he couldn’t deny that the location was good. The terrain was an easy fix too… And there wouldn’t be any problem for that. Even if there’s a mountain, they could easily carve it out for their convenience.

Sona also agreed… “I also like this place… Should we contact Shane now?”
