Chapter 903: Urgent Message

The looting resumed with urgency.

Now that the system had finalized all notifications and rewards, survivors moved quickly to clear the remaining Zombie Pig corpses by looting them.

They knew the decay threshold was approaching, and anything left unclaimed would not vanish, but the quality of loot would not be that great…

Just like that, squad leaders gave short commands as they reminded the others to also loot those who were trapped in the pitholes.

Furthermore, they reminded the survivors to be careful of the possible remaining traps that hadn’t been completely destroyed yet.

As for those injured, they must ensure to close up any open wounds first to avoid getting an infection.

Despite the pace, fatigue was everywhere.

Those who had fought on the front lines, especially melee units and suppression teams, were visibly drained.

“This is tiring…”

“Well… Adrenaline’s gone. My body feels so heavy now.”

“True… I wanted to rest, but the loot quality will drop if we don’t loot them now.”

Some leaned against walls, others sat down mid-loot, heads bowed, and hands trembling. Even with potions and stimulants, the exhaustion was real.

They had been fighting for over 24 hours after all.

Fortunately, the Warden Units were already deployed.

The androids stood guard across key sectors, scanning for threats and maintaining perimeter security. Their presence allowed the survivors to rest without fear.

The city wall had been patched. Emergency repair drones had sealed the breaches with reinforced barricades, and a few turrets were back online. They were rotating slowly, tracking movement beyond the horizon.

It wasn’t perfect.

But it was enough… Once they were done looting, they knew that they could swiftly sleep.

Shane watched the field for a moment longer, then turned away.

He didn’t need to give more orders. The survivors knew what to do.

***

Back in his room, Shane moved on instinct.

He stripped off his gear, peeled away his sweat-soaked clothes, and stepped into the shower.

Pssshhh~

The water was lukewarm, just enough to rinse off the grime and tension in his muscles… He didn’t linger for long after getting himself cleaned…

After drying off, he slumped onto his bed, letting his body sink into the mattress.

His muscles ached. His mind buzzed. But he was alive.

Before sleep could take him, he opened his interface and tapped into the regional chat.

He wanted to see what the others were saying.

Then, Shane noticed that there was actually the Red Night Event’s Score Leaderboard. The Top 100 Survivors and Top 20 Clans had actually been listed.

For now, Shane checked the Regional Chat…

He wasn’t really looking for anything, but he just wanted to check so he could relax quickly and fall asleep.

[ Tori: The leaderboard’s up! Eclipse Revenant took Top 1 again. No surprise there. ]

[ Lance: Overlord Clan got Top 2. That’s expected. But wait… Shadowbinders? Top 3? Weren’t they ranked 19th overall before the event? ]

[ Kris: Bro… I had to double-check. I thought it was a glitch. Shadowbinders came out of nowhere. ]

[ Jun: That’s wild. I thought they were just a stealth-focused clan. Didn’t know they had that kind of firepower. ]

[ Leo: They probably completed a ton of hidden missions. That’s how you climb fast. Also, I remember that they only have 1 Shelter… They have a small population too. They must’ve done really well. ]

[ Jamina: Speaking of hidden missions… I got one for hiding underwater for 1 hour straight. I didn’t even know that was a thing. I was just panicking in a swamp pit. ]

[ Evan: LOL. I got one for killing 30 infected clan members. I thought I was just granting them mercy since there’s really no cure for that. Anyway, felt kinda bad… but also not. ]

[ Iona: Mine was “Survive 20 consecutive ambushes without using a healing item.” I didn’t even know I did that. I was just broke. ]

[ Hal: I got “Loot 100 corpses solo while under attack.” I thought I was just being greedy. Turns out I was being efficient. ]

[ Ren: Wait… I got one called “Don’t speak for 12 hours.” ]

[ Hermes: You didn’t speak for 12 hours? How the heck is that even possible? ]

[ Jamina: Anyway, I heard that the Shadowbinders lured several Lord-class into a tunnel and collapsed it on purpose. That’s gotta be worth points. ]

[ Iona: I’m not even mad. That’s genius. Dirty, but genius. ]

[ Kellen: I completed a mission called “Use 50 different weapons during the event.” I was testing everything I looted. Didn’t know it counted. So cool. I got nice rewards too. ]

[ Jun: I got “First to Boil rat meat during the Red Night.” I swear the system is mocking me. ]

[ Leo: Confirmed. You’re the Rat Master. The system respects your culinary arts. ]

[ Tori: Anyone get the Master Gift Packs yet? I chose the Medical and Shelter ones. The trauma kit inside is insane. ]

[ Lance: I picked the Transport Pack. The foldable electric bike is legit. Already zooming around the shelter. Feels so cool. We just need to fix the roads. ]

[ Kris: I got several Stealth Packs for myself. The sound suppression boots are so quiet, I scared a medic by accident. ]

[ Jamina: Entertainment Pack. I got a holo-projector and a harmonica… It’s weirdly soothing. ]

[ Evan: Food Pack was stacked. High-calorie ration bars and nutrient paste. Tastes like cardboard but works. ]

[ Iona: What? You still have a problem with food? What Clan do you belong to? Anyway, Shelter Pack had a collapsible defense barrier. Already installed it near our gate. It auto-deploys when it detects movement. ]

[ Hal: Anyone try the Weapon Pack? Mine came with a modular rifle and a smart scope. It tracks heat signatures. Try it guys. You can’t find these items in the Survivor Store or Reputatio Stores easily. ]

[ Ren: I got the Water Pack. The contamination scanner is super useful. Found out our backup tank was compromised. ]

[ Kellen: I got the Survival Tools Pack. The encrypted GPS beacon is cool. It even shows underground tunnels. ]

[ Mira: I got 3 Medical Packs for me. The auto-suture device seemed useful. No skill required. Just press and patch. ]

[ Jamina: Guys… Did anyone know what special reward the Top 1 Clan Members get? ]

At this point, Shane already felt sleepy… However, a private message woke him up.

[ Travis: Shane! Careful! Lancelot is planning to attack your base! ]
