Capítulo 1001: Loyal Members

The ten recruits blinked in surprise when Shane ordered them to build a wall.

They had been brimming with excitement, ready to test their new strength against zombies or even evil Survivors.

So the sudden shift from battle to construction left them momentarily stunned.

Still, none of them complained. He was their boss, their leader, and they had already seen enough to know that Shane’s decisions were absolute…

One of them muttered under his breath, “A wall? I thought we’d be smashing skulls… But we will follow you, Lord Shan!”

Another recruit, who was also a bit surprised, realized that building a wall was indeed important and nodded. “Well, if the boss says build, then we build. Better to have defenses before the fight comes to us.”

But reality quickly set in… they had no tools.

After looking around, the building where hammers, saws, and cooking utensils had been stored was nothing but rubble.

Even if they wanted to prepare food, they wouldn’t have pots or pans to cook the fish they had.

Shane, however, already had a solution. While they were actually finding some tools within the shelter and looking for materials they could use, he was also browsing the Marketplace.

The System’s marketplace now has a lower tax rate…

Because of that, it had become less expensive to purchase things here…

Soon, his eyes scanned through the listings. With a decisive move, he spent thousands of Zombie Cores to purchase the essentials.

[ Marketplace Transaction: -3,500 Zombie Cores ]

[ Materials Acquired: Reinforced Wood Planks, Iron Nails, Steel Hammers, Hand Saws, Measuring Tools, Rope, Support Beams…

The list goes on.

Stacks of wood planks appeared in his inventory, smooth and sturdy, cut to precise lengths.

Boxes of iron nails that had been upgraded were also there… Each one was even forged to resist rust. Heavy hammers and sharp saws also materialized, along with coils of rope and measuring tools for construction. The important support beams that were made of enhanced steel were also included, thick enough to hold defensive walls against pressure.

The recruits stared in awe as Shane laid out the materials.

“Boss… you have all of this in your inventory? Awesome!” one said in astonishment.

Shane nodded. “I just bought them with Zombie Cores…”

Next, he pulled out several high-grade tents. Needless to say, they came from his Shelter Giftpacks.

[ Reinforced Military Tent (Exceptional) ]: A high-grade tent crafted from enhanced synthetic fibers and strengthened steel rods. Resistant to wind, rain, and zombie interference, it provides secure shelter for multiple occupants.

Effects: +15% Health Recovery, +10% Stamina Recovery

Special Effect:

Safe Haven – With temperature control and reduces fatigue accumulation by 50% when resting inside. ]

Shane needed to set them up since these guys needed to have a safe place to rest when needed.

The tents unfolded with ease, their fabric reinforced with weather-resistant layers. Each one was large enough to house multiple soldiers, with compartments for storage and sleeping.

“For now, these tents will be your resting place,” Shane explained. “We’ll build proper houses later.”

The recruits exchanged relieved glances. At least they wouldn’t be sleeping on the cold ground.

As for food, Shane knew this was the easiest problem to solve. He opened his inventory and revealed stacks of supplies.

Shane had those safe but unknown pieces of meat, bread, seasoning packs, and crates of various herbs.

The recruits’ eyes widened as they saw the sheer amount of food.

Shane even swiftly created an Ice Control Token!

He opened his inventory and withdrew a handful of raw silver ingots. They were clean, heavy, and bright.

Shane then used his various skills and warmed the silver just enough to shape it, then shaped it with a dagger.

He etched a circular design and carved a stylized tower in the center. It was the emblem for this outpost.

He made three of these same tokens and took him about 5 minutes for each of them.

“Quality matters,” Shane murmured to himself.

After all, the quality of the token would affect the result of Skill Infusion later in terms of usage numbers and durability. Furthermore, the success rate would also be higher.

Then he triggered the System.

[ Skill Infuser Talent: Active ]

He then selected his new skill.

[ Ice Manipulation Skill Lv4: Allows the Survivor to generate and control ice within a limited radius. It can freeze water, create ice barriers, and preserve food. Costs 40 Spirit Points per use. ]

[ You are about to infuse a selected item with one of your available Skills.

Warning: Spirit Points will be consumed. Infusion failure may result in item destruction.

Selected Item: Shield Token ( Polished Ironwood )

Selected Skill: Ice Manipulation ]

“Proceed…”

Just like that, a soft blue glow radiated from Shane’s palm.

[ Infusion Complete: Success ]

Shane lifted the finished piece and tossed it lightly, feeling the weight.

“This will keep the meat and the fish frozen. We’ll chill the supply tent… After all, these guys couldn’t use Inventory…

Soon, he made a total of three Ice Control Tokens.

[ Ice Control Token: Forged from pure Silver and carved into a circular medallion bearing the image of a tower. This item carries the essence of Ice Manipulation, granting its bearer the ability to command frost and cold. ]

Effect:

Ice Domain: Generate and control ice within a 3-meter radius.

Activation Cost: 50 Spirit Points per use

Usage: 50/50

Remarks: made by Shadow Strider ]

He handed the tokens to Misha, the only woman in the group of Super Soldiers.

After this, Shane looked at his Super Soldiers and realized why they seemed so off…

He swiftly checked his inventory and handed each of them four sets of clothes.

They were given two sets of casual clothes, a set of work clothes, and another set of battle gear!

“Perfect for construction.”

“Now this… this feels like a soldier’s uniform.”

“Thank you, Boss Shane!”

Even the casual clothes brought smiles to their faces.

Shane looked at them, satisfied.

“With me here, you will have everything you need… food, shelter, clothes, weapons. Now, let’s get to work. You should all be filled with energy after the transformation…”
